Mr. William Clifton Rose Obit (C)

Mr. William Clifton Rose, age 57 of Cloudland, GA passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Rose was born November 22, 1956 in South Dakota. He was a salesman with Pro-X Power Sports and a lumber yard worker.

Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his parents, Williams Clifford Rose and Elaine Rose. He was a member of Hoyt USA Shooting Team and was also an avid archer, hunter, and fisherman. Mr. Rose was a member of New Life Family Church in Midway, GA. 

Mr. Rose is survived by his sons, Justin DeWayne Rose, Kyle Cliffton Rose, and Michael Mason Rose; and companion, Patty Rose Compton. 

At Mr. Rose's request he was cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. 

Mrs. Mattie Ruth Hill Obit (M)

Mrs. Mattie Ruth Hill, age 99, of Subligna, GA died Friday, November 14, 2014 at

Dalton, GA.

 

Mrs. Hill was born April 25, 1915 in Subligna, GA, the daughter of the late Ab Phillips and Maude Wilson Phillips.  She was a graduate of Subligna High School.  Mrs. Hill was a member of Subligna Baptist Church.  She was the owner and operator of Blue

Mountain Antiques in Dalton and Rocky Face for several years.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Perry Hill; and a son, Carey Hill.

 

Mrs. Hill is survived by a son, Stephen (Robin) Hill, Newnan, GA; daughter, Jennifer  (Robert) Besal; and 4 Grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Subligna

Baptist Church.  Rev. Charles Bishop will officiate. Interment will follow in Subligna Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Keith Wilson, Ivan Wilson, Scot LaVelle,

Ray Sutton, Max Cordle, and Larry Scoggins.  Honorary pallbearers will be Don

Cochran, Phil Cochran, Coleman Cochran, Jr., Benny Price, and Melvin Plunkett.

 

Mrs. Hill will be in state from 12:15 until 1:45 p. m. on Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Subligna Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made

to Subligna Baptist Church Building Fund, 35 Subligna Baptist Church Road,

Summerville, GA  30747.

Mr. Edward Eugene Sewell Obit (M)

Mr. Edward Eugene Sewell, age 85, of Summerville, GA died Monday, November

17, 2014 at his home.

 

Mr. Sewell was born June 8, 1929 in Menlo, GA, the son of the late Johnny Sewell, SR

and Mamie Knox Sewell.  He was retired from Cornet Carpet Mill.  Mr. Sewell was

a lifelong member of St. Thomas Baptist Church in Menlo, GA, where he served

as a deacon.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna

Johnson Sewell; sisters, Lorene Rush and Canary Hubbard; brothers, Jessie Sewell,

Chestley Sewell, SR, and Johnny Sewell, JR.

 

Mr. Sewell leaves behind a devoted, loving cousin, Sheraldine (James) Miller;

cousin, Bobby Martin; nephews, Theron Finley, Pastor Andre Finley, Eugene Rush,

Chuck Hubbard, Gregory Sewell, and Chestley Sewell; niece, Gwendolyn Ruffin; sister-in-law, Hazel (Mark) Price; sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson and Carol Johnson; brother-in-law, Rufus (Annie) Johnson; and a host of Cousins, Nieces, Nephews, and Friends.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, November 21, 2014 at Mason

Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Andre Finley officiating.  Burial will be in the

Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Mr. Robert Edward Giles Obit (M)

Mr. Robert Edward Giles, age 63, of Summerville, GA died Monday, November

17, 2014 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

 

Mr. Giles was born February 5, 1951 in Key West, FL, the son of the late Willie

Ray Giles and Mary Magdalena Kazimir Giles.  He was employed with HCI.

He was a veteran of the United States Navy.  Mr. Giles was a graduate of

Northeast Alabama Junior College with a degree in science.

 

Mr. Giles is survived by a daughter, Kristina Giles; brothers, Raymond Giles and

John Giles; grandchildren, Brent Laney and Cole Lewis.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Mason

Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating.  Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

Ms. Theresa Irene McDowell, age 55, of Trion, GA, died Friday, November 14, 2014, in Summerville, GA.
 
Ms. McDowell was born April 14, 1959, in Trion, GA, daughter of J.B. and Bertha Eulene Vernon Timmons.  She was Baptist by faith and was preceded in death by her son, Quincy Arp; a sister, Annette Timmons Campbell; grandparents, Bill and Emma Vernon, and Robert L. and Tavie Timmons.
 
Ms. McDowell is survived by her parents, J.B. and Bertha Eulene Timmons; son and daughter-in-law, Joesph and Nicole Wilson; daughter and son-in-law, Wendy and Randy Smith; a brother, Eddie Timmons; sisters and brother-in-law, Kay and Mike Bartlett, Carol Tuttle; grandchildren, Autumn and Kaamel Baldwin, Kyle and Jade Timmons, Raven and Gavin Wilson, Dee McCutchins, Taj Smith, and Darrikus Smith; great-grandchildren, Kaamel Baldwin, Kaasyn Baldwin, and Kaapt’n Baldwin.

Mrs. Doris C. Dickson Obit (C)

Mrs. Doris C. Dickson, age 83 of Taylor Street, Summerville, passed away Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Dickson was born in Gore, Georgia on September 3, 1931, daughter of the late Julius Levi Coulter and Nellie Ruth Patrick Coulter. She was the valedictorian of the Gore High School graduating class of 1948, and was the recipient of the Rotary Club Award. Mrs. Dickson was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and enjoyed helping the Elderly and Needy through church programs. She was retired from Bigelow Sanford, working as a Secretary. Mrs. Dickson was preceded in death by her husband, Donald J. Dickson on October 28, 2013.

Mrs. Dickson is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Angela Dickson of Cartersville; sister, Brenda Hatcher of Louisville, TN; grandchildren, Ashley(Shaun) Jankiewicz and Hailey(Eric) Rosenblum; great grandchildren, Ansley and Mallory Jankiewicz, and Bradley and Tyler Rosenblum; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Othell) Tucker of Lafayette and Bonnie Hayes of Ocala, FL.; niece Linda and Johnny Armstrong; her Calvary Baptist Church Family; close friend, Susan King; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as her devoted caregivers: Cassie Fulmer, Vickie Fulmer, Debra Hannah, Cheyanne Hardin, Talor Noles, Barbara Sills, Alene Smith, Sheila Stowe, Peggy Stricklin, Tara Taylor and Lindy Womack.

Mr. Bernard Clifford Shaw, age 84, of Lyerly, GA, died Saturday, November 15, 2014, at his residence.
 
Mr. Shaw was born February 15, 1930, in Gaylesville, AL, son of the late Jim Shaw and Edna Todd Shaw.  He was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, he was a farmer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Otis Shaw and O. B. Shaw; a sister, Helen Bobo; a son-in-law, Charlie Wooten; and a great-grandson, Austin Galletta.
 
Mr. Shaw is survived by his wife, Leona Chitwood Shaw; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary Don and Gay Shaw; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mike Woodard; brothers, R. L. Shaw and George Shaw; a sister, Thelma Norman; 5 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Williamson was born December 29, 1943 in LaFayette, GA, the son of the late Luther Williamson and Beatrice Childers Williamson. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
 
Survivors include children, Terry Williamson, Tammy Rigdon, sister, Lorene Cordell, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lemous Obera Keen, age 68, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Keen was born July 1, 1946, in Menlo, GA, a daughter of the late Gladstone Davis Dempsey and Annie Ruth Lawson Dempsey.  She was a member of the New Generation Christian Church, and prior to her retirement, she was employed with Mount Vernon Mills.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Dempsey.

Mrs. Keen is survived by her husband, Melvin Keen; a son, David G. Keen; a daughter, Samantha Smith; a sister, Maxine Majors; and grandchildren, Abbigail Smith and Cain Smith.

Mrs. Sarah Denver Maddux Obit (M)

On December 25, 1915, the Good Lord sent us a precious gift, Mrs. Sarah Denver Maddux.  On November 14, 2014, He called her home.

“Denver,” as she was known to and loved by all, was born in Chattooga County, GA, daughter of the late Flavil and Floy Willbanks.  She was a faithful member of the Pennville Church of Christ, and was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Maddux; a sister, Polly Pope, and two brothers, Boley Willbanks and Gene Willbanks.

Survivors include her two children, Donny Maddux of Trion, GA and Andrea Pitts of Canon, GA; grandchildren, Angie King of Hartwell, GA, Savannah Pledger of Summerville, GA, Micah Maddux of Trion, GA, Heather Willingham of Trion, GA, Brooke Maddux of Trion, GA, and Noel Stone of Chattanooga, TN.  She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maddux will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, November 16, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min.
