Mrs. Vera H. Williams Obit (ER)

MRS. VERA H. WILLIAMS, age 89, of Nixon Street, Summerville, 
Georgia passed away Tuesday afternoon.  A native of Chattooga 
County, Georgia, She was born to the late Emmett Jackson and 
Blanche Irene Chandler Hemphill on December 19, 1924.  Mrs.
 Williams was a member of First Presbyterian Church P.C.A.; 
affectionately known as “Miss Vera”, She was retired Educator
 from the Chattooga County School system.

Surviving are husband, Andrew M. Williams, Jr.; daughter,
 Suzann W. Lanier & Sidney A. Lanier, Jr. of Summerville; sons, 
Gregory A. Williams & Marilyn D. Williams of Dublin, GA. And
 Andrew M. Williams, III & Sue M. Williams of Blairsville, GA.;
 grandchildren, Darin M. (Ginny) Williams, Kerry W. (Danny) 
Welch, Andrew M. (Laura) Williams, IV, Abigail W. Williams, 
Aleiandra S. Lanier, Sidney A. Lanier, III; great grandchildren,
 Britton S. Williams, Blake T. Williams, Brileigh C. Welch,

A Celebration of Life, service will be held Thursday,
 October 9th, at 2:00 P.M. from the First Presbyterian Church,
 P.C.A. with Rev. Greg King and Rev. Donald Treick officiating,

Mrs. Lillie Ruth “Dinky” Warren, age 66, of Trion, GA, died Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Warren was born November 24, 1947, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Thomas Glen Westbrook and Mildred Lee Landers Westbrook.  She had worked as a waitress at the Huddle House.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Neil “Jimmy” Warren.

Mrs. Warren is survived by her sons, Byron Dustin Hines, Jack Warren, and James Ray Warren; daughters, Crystal Hines Blakley, Beth Warren, and Diane Mountain; brothers, Thomas H. “Butch” Westbrook and David G. Westbrook; a sister, Chris Taylor; grandchildren, Ariel Whitney Driver, Austin Blakley, Christopher Montgomery, Amber Mountain, Schovan Warren, and Aaron Warren; special friends, Jenith Lowrance and Glenda Harden.

Funeral services for Mrs. Warren will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 7, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Fleener officiating.

MRS. KAYE CASEY, age 57, of Hair Lake Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014, in a Rome hospital. She was born on October 25, 1956 in Chattooga County, Georgia, to the late Albert and Mary Nell Morrow Gilbreath. Mrs. Casey was a member of Horizon Baptist Fellowship and a Teacher in the Chattooga School System. She was preceded in death by a brother, the late Dennis Gilbreath.

Surviving are husband, Roger Casey; daughters and spouses, Laura Casey, Carla & Bucky Chisolm all of Summerville, and Cara & John English of Signal Mt, Tn.; grandchildren, Calleigh Hall, Ty Hall, Madlyn Henderson, Kayleigh Byars, Sarah English, and Layton Chisolm; brother and spouse, Mark & Susan Gilbreath; step mother, Polly Gilbreath; step brother, Eddie Lively; two Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8th, at 11:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Caldwell officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Mr. Jeffery DeWayne Warren, age 44, of Trion, GA died Friday, October 03, 2014
from injuries received in an automobile accident.
 
Mr. Warren was born January 21, 1970 in Rome, GA, the son of the late Ike Curtis
Warren and Jessie Lorella Harris Warren.  He was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills.
Mr. Warren was a member of Life Gate Church.
 
Survivors include sisters and brothers-in-law, Shelia and Mike Rench,  Teresa
and Jimmy Hughes; special friends, Cindy Rollins and Haven Rollins; Nieces and
Nephews.
 
Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, October 5, 2014
at Williams Cemetery.  Rev. Delbert Young will officiate.  Active pallbearers will be
Erick Housch, Nate Rench, Tyler Kendrick, Jason Brown, Justin Broyles, Mike Chandler, Bade Eller and Mason Eller.  Honorary pallbearers will be all members
of Life Gate Church,  and all employees of the Slashing Department of Mt. Vernon Mills.

Mr. Marshall Steven “Steve” Kirby Obit

MR. MARSHALL STEVEN “STEVE” KIRBY, age 66, of Teloga Community, Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday evening in a Rome hospital. Born in Ft. Bragg, N.C. on May 20, 1948, He was a son of the late Raymond D. “Boog” Kirby and Jo Elizabeth Keef Kirby. Mr. Kirby was a Disabled Veteran of the Viet Nam War, and a member of the V. F. W.

Surviving are son-Kelly Kirby of Menlo; grandchildren-Jaylen Kirby, Lane Kirby, and Braden Kirby; sisters & brothers-in-law-Linda & Bill Powell of Ringgold and Patsy & Nolan White of Summerville; three Nieces also survive.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, October 4th, at 11:00 A.M. from the J.D.Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. John Mann officiating. Mrs. Barbara Adams Peek Obit (M)

Mrs. Barbara Adams Peek, age 86, of Trion, GA, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014, surrounded by her family and friends.  Mrs. Peek most recently resided in Centre and Cedar Bluff, AL, and formerly in Valley, AL.

Mrs. Peek was born February 4, 1928, in Fairfax, AL, daughter of the late William Joseph Adams and Verna Griffin Adams.  Barbara Peek was the epitome of a gracious southern lady.  She made friends wherever she went, and charmed everyone with her smile, laugh, warmth, sweetness, and love.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She created beautiful homes and cared for her family well.  She welcomed everyone in to share her hospitality, and made each person feel very special.  She leaves a strong legacy for her family, each of the incredibly blessed to have had her in their lives.  She will be terribly missed.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Peek was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Lewis Peek; her siblings, Lillian Adams Yates, Dorothy Adams Thomas, Tinsley Adams, and Kenneth Adams.

Mrs. Peek is survived by her children, Harold Clayton Peek of Broomtown, AL, Sally Peek (Christina Martin) of Decatur, GA; her sisters, Betty Adams Williams, Elaine Adams Butts, and Evelyn Adams Robinson of Lanett, AL; her brother, Donald Adams of San Diego, CA; her grandchildren, Mary Katherine Peek Miller (Andy Miller) of Cedar Bluff, AL, and Rowan Lewis Kunz-Peek of Decatur, GA; her great-granddaughter, Ava Caroline Miller of Cedar Bluff, AL; and one great-granddaughter on the way, Olivia Madeline Miller.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Peek will be held at 4:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Sunday, October 5, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mr. Joseph Lamar Martin Obit (C)

Mr. Joseph Lamar Martin, age 70, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Martin was born in Trion, Georgia on June 9, 1944, son of the late Joseph Columbus Martin and Nadene Crider Martin. He was a Dairy Farmer, having owned the Martin Dairy, was a sales representative with Branson Tractor in Rome, and was a former auctioneer. Mr. Martin was a member and Past Master of Chattooga Lodge #704, member and Past President of the Chattooga Shrine Club, member of the Yaarab Shrine Temple in Atlanta, member of the American Legion, the VFW, and Sons of the Legion, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. 

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Dot Stowe Martin; children, Kevin Martin, Kim Martin and Phil (Rhonda) Stowe; three sisters, Mardean Loggins, Glynda Searles and Charlsie Johnston; five grandchildren, Ally Martin, Kady Martin, Courtney Stowe, Meagan Stowe and Zev Greenberg, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service for Mr. Martin will be held Sunday, October 5, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Carolyn Mae Craig, age 65, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Craig was born July 11, 1949, in Valley Head, Al, daughter of Oscar Dale Cason and Pauline Patrick Cason.  She was a member of the Trion Church of God, a loving wife, mother and mawmaw.  She  was a CNA having worked at Oakview Nursing & Rehab and retiring from Shepherd Hills Health Care, and preceded in death by a sister, Opal Daniels, 2 brothers, John Carson, and Joe Carson.

Mrs. Craig is survived by her husband, Johnny Joe Craig, daughters, Pamela Edgeman, Sheila Willingham, Barbara Wilson, brothers, Robert Cason, Sam Cason, sisters, Faye Paige, Betty Buckels, Madeline “Matt” McKinney, Margaret Reeves, grandchildren, Ashley Collins, David Wilson, Patrick Kirby, Justin Hammitt, Kaitlyn Hammitt, Johnnie Beth Wilson, Erika Willingham and great grandchild, Addison Collins.

Mr. Robert Lee "Bobby" Jay, age 74, of Mentone, AL, died Saturday, September 27, 2014, at his residence.
 
Mr. Jay was born June 10, 1940, in Savannah, TN, son of the late Elton Edward Jay, Sr. and Virginia Keathley Hurst Jay Covey, and was adopted at an early age after the death of his parents by the late Forrest and Gertie Hurst Morrow, the sister and brother-in-law of his mother.  He was a member of the Southport Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis, IN for 30 years where he served as Sunday School Teacher, Youth Sponsor, Deacon, and Elder.  He currently attended Howard's Chapel in Mentone, AL.  Mr. Jay was retired from Rolls Royce where he was employed as an Aeronautical Engineer.
 
Mr. Jay is survived by his wife, Mary Speed Jay; daughters and son-in-law, Mary Jennifer Jay and Ronald Pyke, and Julie Leigh Jay; a brother, Elton Jay; a sister and brother-in-law, Darryl and Eddie Perkins; grandchildren, Garvey Pyke, Fergus Pyke, Parker Jay-Pachirat, and Mia Jay-Pachirat.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Jay will be held at 2:30 P.M. (E.S.T.) Mrs. Kathryn Griselda “Gris” Trammell Obit (C)

Mrs. Kathryn Griselda “Gris” Trammell, age 78, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Monday, September  29, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Trammell was born in Lyerly, Georgia on July 19, 1936, daughter of the late Frank Thomas and Jessie Lucille Durham Thomas.  She was a member of the Ridgeway Baptist Church, the Joi Club of Ridgeway Baptist Church and was one of the Founders of the Saddle Club.  Mrs. Trammell retired from Trion Elementary School where she worked as a Paraprofessional.   Following her retirement, she spent her time cleaning houses.

 Mrs. Trammell was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Trammell; infant daughter, Gwyne Trammell;  daughter, Kathy Trammell; brother, Durham Trammell; and sisters, Ann Hammonds, Esma Ramirez and Marie Hasty.

 Mrs. Trammell is survived by her children, Tim Trammell, Tracy and April Trammell, Cindy and Danny Ray Bryan; brother, Wallace Thomas; Grandchildren, Carrie and Adam Lathem, Adam and Tabatha Trammell; Rankin Bryan, Haley Lloyd and Colt Trammell; great grandchildren, Chandler Lathem, Madison Lathem, Camden Page, Braylen Reeves, Kalynn Trammell and Kathryn Trammell; Special Friend, Marion Carter; and a number of nieces and nephews.
