Mrs. Charity Elizabeth Clark Obit (M)

Mrs. Charity Elizabeth Clark, age 61, of Cloudland, GA died Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Clark was born April 12, 1953 in Cloudland, GA, the daughter of the late Joe

Adkins, and Alice Holbrook Adkins.  She was a homemaker and a member of

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death

by her husband, Benjamin (Ben) Clark.

Survivors include her son, Corey Clark; brother, Joseph Adkins; and sisters, Mary

Rape, Opal Deering, and Sarah Aldridge and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m.  Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Mason

Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rickey Biddle officiating with burial to follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mrs. Clark will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive

friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour on Saturday.

Mr. Boyd Barton Obit (M)

Mr. Boyd Barton, age 88, of Summerville, GA, died Thursday, September 25, 2014, at his residence.

 

Mr. Barton was born October 25, 1925, in West Armuchee, GA, son of the late Robert Lee Barton and Viola Rich Barton.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post 129.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rena Lucille McNalley Barton; a step-son, Leroy Reynolds, Jr.; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.

 

Mr. Barton is survived by his brothers, Max Barton of Broken Arrow, OK, and Jim Barton of Gulf Shores, AL; step-children, Stella Bice, Dorothy Mann, Helen Wade, David Reynolds, and Johnny Reynolds; grandson, Robert Reynolds; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, September 28, 2014 at

Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry

Scoggins officiating.  Interment will follow in Subligna Cemetery.

 

Mr. Barton will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive

Mr. Walter Clark age 51 of LaFayette died Tuesday, , He was a member and Deacon  of  United by Faith Baptist. he was preceded in death by his mother Loraine Bramlett and father Roger Clark, and brother Danny Pettyjohn….

He is survived by his wife Linda Clark of LaFayette, daughters Crystal Clark  of Summerville, Amanda  and Paul Mitchell of Summerville  and Holy and Wesley Bryant of Trion, step father Libron Bramlett, sisters Debbie Bailey of Trion, and Yolanda Clark of Florida, a brother and sister in law Allen and Glenda Clark of Summerville, grandchildren, Jacob and Gracie Nelson, Dylan Mitchell, Aiden Mitchell, J.T. Mitchell, Austin Barlett, Wesley Bryant Jr.  Tristian Bryant, and several nieces and nephews also survive….

Funeral services will be held from United by Faith Baptist Church in Summerville on Friday at 3PM…with Rev. Barry Brown, Rev. John McGraw, and Rev. Ralph Sumner officiating Internment to follow in the LaFayette Cemetery…Pallbearers are Cliff and Curtis Frashier, Gene Cavin, Bobby Thompson, Andy and Mark Tidmore… Honorary pallbeareres are sons in law and nephews…

Mr. John Lidell Thacker Obit (Henderson)

Mr. John Lidell Thacker, age 82, of Rome, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, September 23, 2014.

 Mr. Thacker was born in Bartow County, GA on March 15, 1932, son of the late Marcus Thacker and the late Mary Lou Kilgore Thacker.  He was also preceded in death by four siblings, Sarah Stalvey, Rose Cardella, M. T. Thacker, and Frank (Dee) Thacker.  Mr. Thacker was a skilled carpenter, having been self-employed for many years. At the time of his retirement in 1994, he was employed by Smithson Builders.  He proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955, and he was a member of the Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 American Legion. Mr. Thacker was a certified member of the Creek Indian Tribe.  He was an active member of Dykes Creek Baptist Church, the Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class and a life Deacon. We will remember him as a humble, soft spoken servant of God who loved his family and fellow church members. The smile of a child would send his spirits soaring.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Betty Jo Carver Thacker, Rome; three daughters, Melanie Sayer, and her husband, Barry, Birmingham, AL, Angela (Ann) Baird, and her husband, James, Summerville, and Lori Jackson, and her husband, Jim, Rome; one brother, Charles Thacker, and his wife, Winnie, Jonesboro; four sisters, Mary Bishop and Margaret Busby, both of Rome, Helen Standridge, Canton, and Fran Walker, and her husband, Ken, Kennesaw; two grandchildren, Meredith Rosson, and her husband, Kevin and Jordan Baird and his wife, Charis; six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.

 

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2pm in Dykes Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Mikel Garrett and Dr. James Baird officiating.  A granddaughter, Mrs. Meredith Rosson, will deliver the eulogy.  Interment will follow in East View Cemetery with military honors rendered by the American Legion Post #5 Honor Guard.

 

The family will receive friends at Dykes Creek Baptist Church on Friday from Noon until the service hour. At other hours, they may be contacted at the residence.

 

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Dykes Creek Baptist Church on Friday at 1:30pm and include: grandsons, Jordan Baird and Kevin Rosson; nephews, Don Standridge, Tommy Standridge and Robert Thacker; brother-in-law, Steve Carver. The Senior Adult Men’s Sunday School Class and the Deacons of Dykes Creek Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in his memory to the Georgia Baptist Children’s Homes and Family Ministries, Inc., P. O. Box 329, Palmetto, GA  30268 or to Heyman HospiceCare at Floyd, P. O. Box 163, Rome, GA  30162.

Mrs. Pauline Mason, age 88, of Summerville, GA, died Friday, September 19, 2014, at Floyd Medical Center.
 
Mrs. Mason was born November 24, 1925, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Luther Wesson and Era Stevens Wesson.  Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Best Manufacturing.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Johnson Mason.
 
Mrs. Mason is survived by her son, Roy Mason; daughter, Patricia Mason; grandchildren, Darlie Minard, Andrea Faith Mason, and Roy Lee Mason, Jr.
 
Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 22, 2014, from the Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Danny Decker officiating.  Pallbearers will be Gene Wesson, Larry Wesson, Tim Wesson, Patrick Wesson, Rusty Webb, and Charles Broadrick.

Mrs. Kathryn Foye Brown, age 87, of Trion, GA, passed away Wednesday September 17, 2014, in Shepherd Hills Nursing Care, in LaFayette, GA.

 

Mrs. Brown was born December 16, 1926, in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Archie Robert and Grace Nations Pettyjohn.  She was a homemaker and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Myers Brown; and brothers, T. J. Pettyjohn, and Leroy Pettyjohn.

 

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Roy & Sharon Brown, Marty & Donna Brown, grandchildren, Tracy Brown, Brad Brown, Justin Brown, Garrett Brown, and 11 Great-Grandchildren.

Mr. James Franklin Harris, age 74, of Cloudland, GA died Sunday, September 14, 2014
at his home.
 
Mr. Harris was born December 2, 1939 in Dayton, TN, the son of the late James
Burton Harris and Ruth Ann Bishop Harris.  He was a member of Pleasant Grove
Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in
Vietnam. Before retirement, Mr. Harris was a maintenance supervisor with Mt. Vernon Mills and a member of the Quarter Century Club.  Other than his parents, he was
preceded in death by a son, Jamie Harris.
 
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Sue Key Harris; daughters and sons-in-law,
Janet Harris and Dennis Hartline, Jenny and Franklin Jones, and Jill and Robert Neal;
brother, John Elmer Harris; grandchildren, Melody LeAnn Gideon, Sara Lynn Harris,
Bobby Neal, Macy Neal, Dylan Dodd, and Devin Dodd.

Mr. Merl Rogers, age 85, of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, September 14, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mr. Rogers was born January 2, 1929, in Fulton, MS, the son of the late Eston Rogers and Myrtle Cleo Swindile Rogers.  He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a tree cutter with N. G. Gilbert.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Estelle Jones Rogers; and his second wife, Eva Florella Barnes Rogers; and sixteen brothers and sisters.
 
Mr. Rogers is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Donald and Pat Rogers, and David Rogers; daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Bob Burdick, Jan and Clint Fricks; 14 Grandchildren; 29 Great-grandchildren; 4 Great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Bea Ellis.

Mr. William S. (Bill) Bozeman Obit (ER)

MR. WILLIAM S. (BILL) BOZEMAN, age 81, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014, in a LaFayette, Georgia health care. Mr. Bozeman was born to the late George Glover and Eva Lyle Bozeman in Montrose, Georgia on December 27, 1932. He attended Eatonton High School and was an outstanding football athlete. Afterward enlisted in the U.S. Army Paratroopers and served from 1953-1955 during the Korean Conflict. He was employed, for 38 years at the General Motors Doraville, Georgia plant. Was married for, 56 years, to the former Clara A. Cash, from Mentone, Alabama, who survives. Mr. Bozeman was preceded in death by Parents, His son, the late Wade Keith Bozeman, also two Sisters, and two Brothers. He attended the Horizon Baptist Fellowship in Summerville.

Surviving are His wife, Clara; daughter, Patricia (Purple Patti) Lind; grandson, Nicholas Lind all of Summerville; brothers, (His twin) William H. Bozeman of Franklin, TN., Dr. John R. (Elizabeth) Bozeman of Conyers; son-in-law, C. Harold (Linda) Williard of Fort Myers, Fl.; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 16th, at 2:00 P.M. (EST) from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with a nephew, Mr. Tyler Meadows, Rev.
