Mr. Travis Earl Money Complete Obit (ER)

MR. TRAVIS EARL MONEY, age 72, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, morning in a Rome hospital. A native Chattooga Countian, He was born to the late Earl and Sybil Chesnut Money on April 11, 1942. Mr. Money was a member of the Menlo United Methodist Church, was an Auctioneer and along with his wife, Doris, owned and operated Travis Money Antique Auction Company, located in downtown Summerville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, the late Aleshia Renee Money.

Surviving are His wife, Doris Sumner Money; son and daughter-in-law, Jason Sumner Money and Nicole Money; grandchildren, Tatum Renee Money and Austin Sumner Money; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Ann and David Ray and Barbara and Buck Leath; brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy and Pat Money, Billy Sam Money, and Sara Money; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 10th, 2014 at 2 P.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home. Pastors Larry Elliott, Jerry Rutledger, and Jody Brock officiating, interment in the West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Larry Vickers, George Stivers, Lynn Hall, Rocky Hatfield, Jackie Cash, and Stacy Boyd. Mr. James Larry Tucker Obit (ER)

MR. JAMES LARRY TUCKER, age 66, of Raines Circle, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, evening in a Rome hospital. Mr. Tucker was born on December 23, 1947 in Blanche, Alabama to the late Jimmy Tucker and Ethel Christine Alred Armstrong. Together, He and wife Gail owned and operated the former Larry’s Bar B Q restaurant, in Pennville.  

Surviving are His wife-Gail Tucker; children-Brian & Julia Tucker, Blake Tucker, Kim Moses, and Jackie Portwood; brother and spouse-Johnny & Linda Armstrong; grandchildren-Branden Tucker, Breanna Tucker, and Gracie Tucker; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 8th, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, Pastor Tom Russell will officiate, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Mr. James Elbert “Pillhead” Edgeworth Obit (M)

Mr. James Elbert  “Pillhead” Edgeworth, age 79, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday June 6, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Edgeworth was born Oct. 28, 1934, in Henagar, AL, the son of the late Alex and Beatrice Dean Edgeworth. He was a retired truck driver from Storey Trucking.   Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Dick Edgeworth, Cecil Edgeworth, Floyd Edgeworth, John Frank Edgeworth, sister, Flora Jennings and son, James Lee Edgeworth.

Survivors include, wife, Mildred Inez Edgeworth, sons, Sammy Neal Edgeworth, Timothy Edgeworth & Desrie Wooton, daughter, Rebecca Ann  & Jackie Banther, brothers, Alfred Bearden Edgeworth, Marcus Boyd Edgeworth, grandchildren, Jeremy David Edgeworth, Joshua Britt Warnock, Tommy Jase Warnock, Jimmy David Warnock, Brandi Michelle Edgeworth, Haylee Edgeworth, Jonathan Spencer Edgeworth, Megan Victoria Warren, Shyanne Edgeworth, great-grandchildren, Sammy Edgeworth, Landon Edgeworth, Carson Warren, Chaney Warnock, Landon Warnock, Xander Warnock, Jada Martin, Charlie Smith, Elijah Smith, Chandler Edgeworth, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Minnie Lorraine Burton Complete Obit (M)

Mrs. Minnie Lorraine Burton, age 91, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday June 7, 2014, in the Oak View Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Burton was born September 9, 1922, in Dekalb County Alabama, the daughter of the late William and Ninnah Croft Howard.  Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Earl Burton, brothers, Charles, Winston, Chester, Marvin and Ozell Howard, sisters, Dovie Ernest, and Bertha Johnson.

Survivors include her daughter, Frances Burton, and sister, Delera Vinson, Lamar, MO.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday June 9, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dean Tapp officiating.

Mrs. Burton will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the service hour.

Mrs. Dorothy Claire Chandler McDonald Obit (ER)

Dorothy Claire Chandler McDonald
1934-2014

Dorothy Claire Chandler McDonald, surrounded by her
family, went to be with The Lord on June 1, 2014. Dorothy 
was born December 26, 1934 in Dallas, Texas. After graduating
 from Highland Park High School in 1952 she attended SMU 
where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. 
After graduating from SMU in 1956 she attended Southern 
Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky where she met Roger McDonald. 
They were married December 21, 1957 at Park Cities Baptist Church
 in Dallas, Texas. Dorothy served The Lord faithfully as a beloved 
wife and helpmate, teacher, friend, mother and grandmother. Her 
dedication to her family was absolute. Dorothy loved The Lord, His 
teachings and the scriptures with her whole heart. She is preceded
 in death by her parents Herb and Velma Chandler and is survived 
by her husband Roger McDonald; her children Diane Timms and her 
husband Tim; Rose Mary Taylor; Cindy Stroud and her husband Greg; 
her grandchildren Brad Timms and his wife Jordan; Scott Timms and
 his wife Taylor; Martha Taylor and her fiancé Justin Wright; Claire Taylor;
 Leah Taylor; Tommy Taylor; Stephanie Stroud; Katie Mills and her husband 
Matt; Maggie Stroud; and her great grandchildren Tyson, Brooke, and Joshua Timms.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 4th from 6-8p at Restland
Funeral Home on Greenville Ave. in Dallas.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, June 5th at 2p at First Baptist
 Church Garland, followed by a graveside service at Restland.

Mr. Thomas Garrick Burley (P)

Mr. Thomas Garrick Burley, age 65 of Trion, GA formerly of Alameda, CA passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. He was a former employee of Mount Vernon Mills, J. P. Smith Lumber Company, as well as a retired Lumber Worker at Forks, Washington. He was a Veteran of the United States Military having served during the Vietnam Era.

 His parents, Harold and Dorothy Burley died earlier.

 Mr. Burley is survived by his sister, Kathleen Berry and her husband Roy, his two nieces, Laura Hardin, Linda Edwards, Faith Jones, Rebecca Tucker; and his nephew, Bill Johns. 

At Mr. Burley wishes, he is being cremated. A memorial service is planned for a later date.

Mr. Everett Lee Martin, age 27, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, June 2, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mr. Martin was born October 15, 1986, in Rome, GA, a son of John Wesley Martin, Sr. and Janice Chisolm Conner.  He attended the North Summerville  Baptist Church and was employed with Omni Lighting.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Homer and Lula Martin.
 
Mr. Martin is survived by his father, John Wesley Martin, Sr., mother and step-father, Janice Chisolm Conner and James Gregory Conner; brothers, John Wesley Martin, Jr., Charles Robert “Chuck” Norton III; sister, Brittani Conner; grandparents, Buddy and Martha Chisolm; nephews, Chip Norton, Chandler Norton, Cameron Norton; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Martin will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, from the North Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Russell, Rev. Brandon Bishop, and Rev. Mike Odum officiating.  Burial will follow in the Perennial Springs Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Bucky Chisolm, Blake Chisolm, Wesley Chisolm, Keith Bond, Kevin Bond, Cory Early, Kelvin Bain, and Chris Bain.  Honorary pallbearers will be friends and classmates.
 
Mr. Martin will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday.  He will also be in state at North Summerville Baptist Church from 10:30 A.M. until the service hour on Wednesday.

Mr. Johnnie Carl Ivey Obit (ER) Update

MR. JOHNNIE CARL IVEY, age 90, of  Summerville, Georgia passed away 
Monday, May 26, 2014, in the local nursing home.  A native of Huntsville, 
Alabama He was born to the late John Bryant and Lillie Cadilla Michaels 
Ivey on March 1, 1924.  Mr. Ivey was retired from Harriett-Henderson Mills 
and a Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army in Naples, South France, 
and Central Europe; earning the rank of Staff Sargent, and was awarded 
the Bronze Service Arrowhead, EAMET Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal,
 Purple Heart, and Bronze Star.  He was preceded in death by sisters, the
 late Rosie King, Viola Thomas, and Eula Mitchell. 

Surviving are daughters & spouses-Carolyn & Charles Spraggins, Jane
 & Mike Floyd, and Debbie & Arnold Kilgo; sons & spouses-Dennis & Joan 
Ivey and Steve & Yvonne Ivey; sister- Audry Rial; 12 Grandchildren, 26 
Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces , and Nephews 
also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29th, at 1:00 P.M. from
the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with 
Pastors Jimmy Bryant and Stanley Smith officiating, entombment in 
Greenhills Memory Garden, with Military Honor’s by American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post #5, 
of Rome.  Active Pallbearers Adam Ivey, Ryan Headrick, Matt Floyd, Mark Floyd, Mickey Floyd,
 and Chad Spraggins.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Thursday from noon 
until the hour of service.
