Mrs. Barbara Louise Stone Obit (C)

Mrs. Barbara Louise Stone, age 70, of Summerville, Georgia,
 passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Stone was born in New York City, New York on October 4,
1943, daughter of the late James Braden and Dorothy Sommerlot
 Braden.  She was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was
 retired from the Roper Corporation where she was an inspector.  
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by
her husband, Bethel Stone. 

Mrs. Stone is survived by her children, Karl Gore of Summerville,
 James Gore of Guild, Tennessee and Rhonda Dennis of Summerville; 
and a grandson, William Tyler Dennis of Birmingham, Alabama.

At the request of Mrs. Stone, she will be cremated and the family
will hold a private memorial service at a later date.

Ms. Georgia Carol Gill Obit (M)

Ms. Georgia Carol Gill, age 67, of Trion, GA, died Monday, April 14, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

Ms. Gill was born November 10, 1946, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late James Walter Gill and Kathrine Henderson Gill.  She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

 

Ms. Gill is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gordon and Davonna Kinsey; sisters and brother-in-law, Kathy “Sissy” and Tim Davis, Virginia Lively; sister-in-law, Reba Gill; grandchildren, Ashlee Kinsey, Allison Kinsey, Krisanna Rose Kinsey, Brianna Coppinger, and Matthew Bean.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

 

Funeral services for Ms. Gill will be held at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Holman and Rev. Kevin Norton officiating.  Burial will follow in the LaFayette City Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Chris Gill, Stacy Gill, Brian Gill, Scott Coley, Rusty Gill, and Jeff Simpson.  Honorary pallbearers will be J. R. Brown, Jonathan Crain, Allen Simpson, and Thomas Gill.

 

Ms. Gill will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Wednesday.

Mrs. Dusty C. Bartlett Obit (ER) updated

MRS. DUSTY C. BARTLETT, age 33, of Trion, Georgia passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. Born in Floyd County, Georgia on September 22, 1980, was a daughter of Rochelle Choate and Joel Brumlow who survive. Dusty attended the New Hope North Baptist Church and was a restaurant server and cook.

Surviving are husband, Tim Bartlett; parents, Rochelle Choate of Rome and Joel Brumlow of Trion; children, Timothy Levi Brumlow and Haven Marshelle Bartlett; sisters, Clory Smith of LaFayette and Mary Brumlow of Rome; brother, Joel Sidey Brumlow of Rome.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 16th, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Ricky Clark and Ronnie Pettyjohn officiating, interment in White Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 7 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Evelyn Nell Baggett Obit (M)

Mrs. Evelyn Nell Baggett, age 97, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, April 13, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Baggett was born June 30, 1916 in Lyerly, GA, the daughter of the late William Frank Garner and Mary Rebecca Lambert Garner. She was retired from Century Glove. Mrs. Baggett was a member of Oakhill United Methodist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Baggett; and a daughter, Robbie Nell McGraw.

Survivors include her son-in-law and wife, Danny and Lynne McGraw; grandchildren, Beth and Bill Womack, Chris McGraw, and Amber Dye; great grandchildren, Bradley Womack; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 6:30 p. m. Tuesday, April 14, 2014 at Oakhill United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Oakhill United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Max Treadaway, David Fletcher, Ronnie Winters, Jason Winters, Jeff Woodall, and Carter Woodall.

Mrs. Baggett will be in state at Oakhill United Methodist Church and the family will receive friends from 4:30 until the service hour on Tuesday.

Mr. Kenneth Eugene Dover Obit (M)

Mr. Kenneth Eugene Dover, age 66, of Trion, GA, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Dover was born August 6, 1947, in LaFayette, GA, son of the late Raymond M. Dover and Jessie Willie Faulkner Dover.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a self-employed roofer.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris “Esto” Sweet Dover; a son, Michael Eugene Dover; and a sister, Wanda D. Leach.

Mr. Dover is survived by a son, Robert Raymond Dover; step-daughters, Debbie and Steve Collins, Susan Sprayberry; a brother, William “Bob” Dover; a sister, Mary D. “Deedie” Brown; a granddaughter, Meagan Dover; several step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Dover will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 14, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mrs. Sandra Faye Wilbanks, age 60, of Trion, GA, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at her residence.

Mrs. Wilbanks was born November 22, 1953, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Samual Joseph Hamilton and Mae Montene Hamilton.  She was a homemaker.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Kinsey; a granddaughter, Madison Faye Trammell; and a grandson, Jesse Tyler Clark.

Mrs. Wilbanks is survived by her husband, Hershall Wilbanks; sons and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Samantha Trammell, Adam Trammell; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Clark and Corby Searcy; brother and sister-in-law, Sammy and Gina Hamilton; sister, Janice Hartline; and a grandson, Brandon Clark.

Mr. Jerry Andrew Robertson Obit (M)

Mr. Jerry Andrew Robertson, age 62, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Robertson was born July 19, 1951, in Twilight, WV, son of the late Andrew Robertson and Anna Belle Barcowsky Robertson.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Vietnam and was employed with National Boiler Services.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Nathan Robertson.

Mr. Robertson is survived by his wife, Lydia Willingham Robertson; son and daughter-in-law, Derek and Sheila Willingham; daughter and son-in-law, Jim and Amanda Brooks; a brother, Joe Willingham; sisters, Diana VanHorn and Frannie Denman; grandchildren, Bode Brooks, Zoe Brooks, Linkin Farrar, Sarah Brooke Kelehear, Ashley Collins, Erika Willingham, and Patrick Kirby; great-grandchild, Addison Collins.

Mr. Charles Douglas Stephens Obit (M)

Mr. Charles Douglas Stephens, age 72, of Cloudland, GA, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Stephens was born March 1, 1942, in Summerville, GA, son of the late G. W. Stephens and Catherine Magdaline Nelson Stephens.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served four years active duty and two years in the Navy Reserves after being honorably discharged from the Navy.  He was a wonderful father, grandfather, and husband.  He worked as a millwright for 40 years at Georgia Kraft (Inland) in Rome, GA, where he also served on the Charity Committee.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper.

The most special times of his life were spent teaching his grandchildren to fish.  He worked actively at Mount Olive Church in Cloudland, GA where he enjoyed helping with Bible Study.  He treated everyone he met with dignity and respect.  He loved and served his Creator and his Savior with everything he had.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community.

Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife, Barbara Schrader Stephens; son Joseph Wheeler Stephens and his wife Samantha Stephens; daughter, Charlene Annette Stephens-Koonce; brother, Stephen Bruce Stephens and his wife Ruth Stephens; sister, Vesta Helton and her husband Harold Helton; grandchildren, Stephen Koonce, William Koonce, Calvin Koonce, Landon Stephens, and Evan Stephens; great-grandchildren, Isabell Koonce, Abigail Koonce, Kayson Koonce, Keegan Koonce, Emarie Saine, and Londyn Kate Jones.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Stephens will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Bishop officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lyerly Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Mike Smith, Scott Treadaway, Brent Williamson, Randy Bohannon, Greg Koonce, and Bart Bryant.  Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Helton, Joe Cox, Jr. Moon, Ronnie Morris, Allan King, Sonny Reynolds, Grady Schrader, Leroy Sweatman, Pete Peppers, and Charles Tudor.

Mrs. Virginia Ruth Stover Obit (C)

Mrs. Virginia Ruth Stover, age 80, of Lyerly, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Stover was born in Summerville, Georgia on April 12, 1933, daughter of the late O.L. “Joe” Gilmer and Clara Mills Gilmer. She was a 1952 graduate of Chattooga High School, an active lifelong member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and was a loving wife and mother. Mrs. Stover was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amanda Stover, and a brother, Billy Joe Gilmer.

Mrs. Stover is survived by her husband of 59 years, Virgel Stover; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Angela Stover of Rome; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Jeff Tarvin of Huntsville, AL; brother, Emory Gilmer; sisters, Rachel Robertson of Murfreesboro, TN and Wylene Gilmer of Summerville; two grandchildren, Jordan Stover and Emily Tarvin, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Stover will be held on her birthday, Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Decker and Rev. Doyle Waters officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ricky Studdard officiating.

Pallbearers will be Greg Robertson, Phil Robertson, Andy Matthews and David Messer.
