Mr. Albert Lee Rutledge Obit (M)

Mr. Albert Lee Rutledge, age 84 of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Rutledge was born February 22, 1930, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Walter Lee Rutledge and Sara Pilgrim Rutledge. Mr. Rutledge was a member of the Pennville First Baptist Church, was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, and was former manager of the Dixie Oil Station in Trion. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and bird hunting and sitting with his buddies on the bench at Trade Day. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Mary Lou Oakes Rutledge; brothers, Winford and Bennett Rutledge; sister, Clara Mefford; and grandson, Cody Cooper.

Mr. Rutledge is survived by wife of 64 years, Pauline Crisler Rutledge; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Robert Williams, Kim and Dennis Knight, and Jennie and Jerry Hennon; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Eda Rutledge, and Alan and Virginia Rutledge; grandchildren, Amy and Jay White, Jeremy and Marcia Hennon, Brock and Lauren Rutledge, Josh and Lindsey Rutledge, Zeke and Misty Hennon, Ryan Rutledge and Caine Rutledge; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Emily, Megan and Elizabeth Hennon, Abby and Judson White, Savannah, Sarah, Saydi, Sidney and Sylvi Rutledge; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda Rutledge, Julia Crisler, Sara Jo Crisler, and Glenda and Bob Wheeling; and a “special sister”, Lois Grogan. Numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Rutledge will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Dempsey, Bro. Jimmy Wilborn, and Mr. Johnny Wynn officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Jay and Judson White, Brock, Josh, Ryan and Caine Rutledge, Zeke, Jeremy and Caleb Hennon. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of the Pennville First Baptist Church, Charles Clemmons, Kaye and Jimmy Don Angles, Faye and Andy Cash, Bobbie Ann and Jimmy Lenderman, Ann Gentry and Betty and Dennis Hancock.

Mr. Rutledge will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M.. At other hours, the family will be at the home of their daughter, Deborah and Robert Williams on Woodhaven Dr., Summerville, GA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gideons, or to the Pennville First Baptist Church.

Mr. Benny Woodall Obit (M)

Mr. Benny Woodall, age 72, of Ringgold, GA, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Woodall was born November 20, 1941, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Clarence “Slim” and Annie Lee Anderson Woodall.  He was a self-employed painter and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Woodall is survived by his son, Wade Woodall; a brother, Lamar Woodall; a sister, Nola Ruth Benson; and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Woodall will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 1, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Mann and Rev. Chris Woodall officiating.  Interment will follow in the Lyerly Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Buddy Blalock, Bobby Sizemore, Errynn Woodall, and Michael Benson.

Mrs. Ila Jo Culpepper Obit (M)

Mrs. Ila Jo Culpepper, age 81, of Trion, GA, passed away Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Culpepper was born June 15, 1932, in Whiton, AL, daughter of the late Alison and Berma Rains Chandler.  She was a homemaker and a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Dell Culpepper; and 4 brothers.

Mrs. Culpepper is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Vicki Culpepper; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Jo and Robert “Spooky” Dawson, Tammy and Jack Owings; a brother, Hoyt Chandler; sisters, Gail Wilborn, Melba Wyatt, Mozelle Penley, Lynette Parrott; grandchildren, Allison Dawson Eubanks, Shelby Warren, Shon Culpepper, Hillary Owings Carpenter, Julia Owings Park; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Culpepper will be held at 3:00 P.M. Friday, February 28, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Bryant and Rev. Mr. Boyd Raymond “Ray” McCoy Obit (M)

Mr. Boyd Raymond “Ray” McCoy, age 79, of Trion, GA, passed away Tuesday February 25, 2014, in Summit Health & Rehab Center.

 

Mr. McCoy was born July 16, 1934, in Tishamogo, OK, the son of the late Jackson William and Bertha Ada McCoy.  He was a self employed auto mechanic.  He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Faye Hobbs.

 

Survivors include his children, Rosie Silvers, Carolyn Johnston, Raymond McCoy, JR, William Thomas Hobbs, Kenneth Hobbs, 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren.

 

Graveside and interment service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mt Zion Church Cemetery with Rev. Sammy Hall officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Billy F. Silvers, Chad Kreider, Joseph Pugh, Brad Hobbs, Tyler Pugh, Chris Newberry, and Lane Hobbs.

Mrs. Flora "Gartrelle" Elliott Burrage, age 85 of Summerville, GA passed away at Kindred Hospital on Sunday, February 23, 2014.  Mrs. Burrage was born in Gaylesville, AL on April 18, 1928.  She was retired from AT&T- Chicago as an assembler.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Vester Lee Burrage; daughter, Marie Burrage Williams; daughter-in-law, Diane Wilson Burrage; father and mother, Milton Elliott and Lela Bagley Elliott; and brothers, Donald Elliott and J. D. Elliott.

Mrs. Burrage is survived by son, David Lee Burrage; daughter, Doris Burrage (Charles Franklin) Jenkins; son-in-law, Thomas Dewey Williams; sister, Pauline Estelle Hines; grandchildren, Jeffrey Williams, Michelle Vernon, Tracy Eleam, Chris Jenkins, Franklin Jenkins, Billy Jenkins, Angie Jenkins, Jeremy Burrage, and Fabian Burrage; 21 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. from the Petitt Chapel of Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Holman and Rev. Stacy Evans officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Sheila Dianne Wooten, age 60, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Rome, GA.

Mrs. Wooten was born May 20, 1953, in LaFayette, GA, the daughter of the late Cecil Barksdale and Virginia Sumner Barksdale Copeland.  She was formerly employed at Mt. Vernon Mills.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lavoyd “Tommy” Wooten; and step-father, Gene Copeland.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Steve McRae, and Holly and John Kidd; grandchildren, Gracie Nixon, Matthew Nixon, and Courtney Thompson; brothers and sister-in-law, Rodney and Cindy Barksdale, and Jim Clark.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ralph Sumner officiating.  Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Nephews and Cousins.

MRS. MARY RUTH SMITH, age 81, of James Street-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday morning at her residence. Born in Trion, Georgia on July 23,1932 She was a daughter of the late Columbus (Lum) and Hettie Mae Mason Bing. Mrs. Smith was retired from the weave shop of Mt. Vernon Mills and a member of New Faith Tabernacle. Preceded in death besides Her Parents are granddaughter-Joanie Mae Hathcock; great grandchildren-Alisha Nell Robison and Chloe Hearlson; son-in-law Jerry Lee Lindsey, and step sons-David Ronald Smith, Sr. and Larry Keith Smith, Sr.

Mr. Dan Dell Culpepper Obit (M)

Mr. Dan Dell Culpepper, age 84, of Trion, GA, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Culpepper was born June 5, 1929, in Jackson County Alabama, the son of the late John Erskine and Sara Hillian Culpepper.  Mr. Culpepper was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, served as song leader, and served as a Deacon for many years.  He was retired from the A.S. Haight and Company where he worked as a supervisor.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War, and he had also served as a Bailiff for the Chattooga County Court System.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Culpepper was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mr. Culpepper is survived by his wife, Ila Jo Chandler Culpepper; son and daughter-in-law, Rickey and Vickie Culpepper; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Jo  and Robert “Spooky” Dawson, Tammy  and Jack Owings; a brother, Jimmy D. Culpepper; a sister, Barbara J. Culpepper Denton; grandchildren, Allison Dawson , Shelby Warren, Shon Culpepper, Hillary Owings Carpenter, and Julia Owings Park; 10 great-grandchildren.

MRS. GENEVA MAE “DIMPLE” McKIN GLADNEY, age 86, of James Street Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday afternoon at her residence.  She was born in Dalton, Georgia on February 2, 1928, a daughter of the late Homer and Effie Beatrice Grant McKin.  Mrs. Gladney was a member of New Generation Christian Church, retired self-employed barber, and was preceded in death by her husband the late William Eugene (Gene) Gladney and son E. P. Gladney.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law-Tammy Gladney & Charles Keen; grandchildren-Carla Gladney & Eric Ware; great grandson-Tyler Powell all of Summerville.

Mrs. Mary Katherine “KK” Bullard Obit (ER)

MRS. MARY KATHERINE (KK) BULLARD, age 57, of Echols Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014, in a Rome hospital. She was born in Summerville, Georgia on July 25, 1956 to the late Roy F. Camp and Katherine Echols Camp who survives. Mary was a member of Perennial-Springs Baptist Church, had served in law enforcement for 33 plus years and presently was Corporal for the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office.

Surviving are husband-Steve Bullard; mother-Katherine Camp; son & daughter-in-law-Charlie & Samantha Bullard; sister-Caroline Green; grandson-Camp Bullard; special niece-Marti Katherine Green all of Summerville.
