Mrs. Myrtle Ozment Mobbs, age 91 of Flowery Branch, formerly of Summerville, 

Georgia passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the Pure Hearts Personal 

Care Home in Oakwood, Georgia.
 
Mrs. Mobbs was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on January 21, 1923, 

daughter of the late Ben Ozment and Callie McDonald Mobbs.  She was a longtime 

member of the Four Mile Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed as 

a Quality Control Technician with Mt. Vernon Mills.  In addition to her parents, 

Mrs. Mobbs was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Mobbs; brothers, 

Marshall Ozment, and Billy Joe Ozment; and sisters, Mozelle Bartlett and Naomi Hurley.
 
Mrs. Mobbs is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and David Roy of 

Flowery Branch; sister, Betty Miller of Carrolton; grandchildren, Zach Roy and 

Alli Roy; and a number of nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral Services for Mrs. Mobbs will be held Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 2:30 P.M. 

in the Four Mile Baptist Church with Rev. Doyle Kelley, Rev. Joel Smith, and Rev. 

Sanford DeBerry officiating.  Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.
 
Pallbearers will be Zach Roy, Joey Jennings, Mick Allen, Hank Barnes, Nathan Lafabvre, 

Doyle Kelley, Dennis Eleam, Ken Reynolds and Daniel Smith.  Honorary Pallbearers

Mr. George “Buddy” McCutchins, age 90, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, February 15, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. McCutchins was born January 2, 1924, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Smith and Grace Shropshire McCutchins.  He was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills.  Mr. McCutchins was also a veteran of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Air Force.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Mae London McCutchins; two grandchildren, Isaiah McCutchins and Trevor Montgomery; and a great-nephew, Don McCutchins.

Mr. McCutchins is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Roger and Lee London, Al Ray McCutchins, and Tracey McCutchins; daughters and son-in-law, Ann Montgomery, Mona Lisa McCutchins and Mike McGee, Vivian Wells, Anita McCutchins, and Anna McCutchins; a brother, Robert Liggins; a sister, Alean McCutchins; 36 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; special granddaughter, Candius McCutchins; special grandson-in-law, Parrish Perry; and a dear nephew, Frank McCutchins.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, February 22, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Jennifer Belecher officiating.  Burial will follow in the Allgood Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be grandsons and granddaughters.  Honorary pallbearers will be friends and family.

Mr. Hobart McKinley “Hobie” Stallings, Jr., age 87 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Stallings was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on January 6, 1927, son of the late Hobart McKinley Stallings, Sr. and Laura Ellen Wheeling Stallings. He was a 1944 graduate of the Lyerly High School, member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church, and prior to retirement, was employed with Riegel/Mt. Vernon Mills for nearly 48 years as a Pipe Fitter, retiring as a Foreman. Mr. Stallings was a veteran of World War II, serving in Company M, 34th Infantry Regiment in the United States Army, during the Occupation of Japan. He was an avid NASCAR fan, but his greatest hobby was being a proud Paw-Paw who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, being very supportive in all aspects of their lives. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stallings was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Mae Murphy Stallings in 1995.

Mr. Stallings is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Myra Stallings and Max Tucker of Trion; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Deneta Stallings of Armuchee; brothers, Jessie Lee “Jet” Stallings of Cedartown, Fred Stallings of Conroe, Texas and Billy Stallings of Lyerly; sisters, Ruth Kinsey of Summerville and Bessie May of Centre, AL; grandchildren, Joan Graham, Amber Browning, Douglas Wilson, Ryan Tucker, Randall Stallings and Emily Stallings; great grandchildren, Murphy Browning, Addison Wilson, Wil Graham and Tristan Graham; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Stallings will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Johnson and Dr. Floyd Roebuck officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

MR. ROBERT PRATHER, age 68, of Filter Plant Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 15, 2014, at his residence. A native of Canton, Georgia, He was born on September 6, 1945 to the late William Gideon and Bessie Burgess Prather. He was a brick mason, member of New Antioch Baptist Church, served two tours in Viet Nam, Veteran in the U.S. Navy C.Bs; where he acquired the rank of E-5, Builder Petty Officer 2nd Class, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Insignia, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. He was preceded in death by brother & sisters-in-law-Donald & Carol Prather, Kristina Prather and brothers-in-law-Bill Blackwell, Ronald Blackwell, Ralph Blackwell, and Tommy Blackwell.

MR. BOBBY J.R. TAPP, age 78, of Maplewood Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, February 14, 2014, at his residence. He was born in LaFayette, Georgia on March 18, 1935 to the late Hoyle and Dorothy Raines Tapp. He was retired truck salesman.

Surviving are sons-Benny Wayne Tapp of Huntsville, AL. and Michael Joseph Tapp of Georgetown, GA.; 7 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren.

MR. WILLIAM HAROLD KENDRICK, age 75, of Orchard Hill Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away at his residence. A native of Chattooga County, He was born on October 6, 1938 to the late Otto Thomas and Emmie Teague Kendrick. Mr. Kendrick served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, was a member of Lyerly Lodge #338 F & AM, was retired from General Electric, and together with his wife, the late JoAnn Wilkey Kendrick, owned and operated the former Round Table Restaurant. He was Baptist by Faith and in addition to his Wife was preceded in death by a brother, the late Tommy Kendrick.

Surviving are daughter-Cheryl Ann Mobbs of Summerville; son-Thomas Harold Kendrick of Summerville; grandchildren-Allison Joanna Harris, Branca Diane Mobbs, and Tylen Harold Kendrick; sister-Meriana Romantz of Warren, Mich.; brothers-Charles Kendrick and Donnie Kendrick both of Rome; several Nieces and Nephews.

Mr. Robert Hugh Hawkins, age 81, of Cloudland, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014, evening in Austell, Georgia. A native of Cloudland, He was born on February 4, 1933 to the late Riley Monroe and Susie Alma Chislom Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Menlo First Baptist Church. He supervised the construction of Nuclear cooling towers at Tullahoma, Tennessee and Scottsboro, Alabama. He was a Veteran of the Korean War. He loved his Family and Lookout Mountain and was a lifelong proud resident of Cloudland, Georgia. He was preceded in death by the following siblings-Gordon Hawkins, Sidney Hawkins, Myrtle Willingham, Fred Hawkins, Sudie Mae Hawkins, Ralph Hawkins, Thelma Wofford, Sue Reeves, Max Hawkins, and Riley Hawkins.

Surviving are His wife-Catherine Gorham Hawkins; daughter and son-in-law, -Kathy and Tim Sims, Kennesaw; son and daughter-in-law, Michael Hugh and Tracy Hawkins, Cloudland; grandsons-James Alexander Sims and Andrew Robert Sims; great grandson-Colton Tanner Sims; sister-Marie Wofford; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Mrs. Catherine Marie Colbert, age 88, of Summerville, GA, passed away Wednesday February 12, 2014, in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Colbert was born May 25, 1926, in Jamestown, AL, the daughter of the late Brown and Pearl Bramblett   Barnes. She was a homemaker, and preceded in death by her husband, Clarance J. Colbert, a daughter, Cindy P. Colbert, great-granddaughter, Brianna Dalrymple, great-grandson, Rob Dalton, sister, Betty Chastain, brother, Robert Barnes.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Ronald Crouch, Jan and Kenneth Dalton, grandchildren, David & Betty  Crouch,   Randy & Traci Dalrymple, Jr, Robby Dalton, Chris Dalton, great-grandchildren, Samantha Dalton, Saucey Dalton, Chase Pursley, and Pasiley Larman.

Mrs. Minnie Mae Pettyjohn Wardlaw, age 99 years, 11months and four days, of Trion, GA, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Wardlaw was born in the Spring Creek Community on March 6, 1914, daughter of the late Samuel Robert Pettyjohn and Ella Queen Hendrix Pettyjohn. She was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church where she had been active for many years, serving as the pianist, Sunday school teacher, and taught Vacation Bible School. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wardlaw was preceded in death by her husband, F.M. “Sam” Wardlaw; granddaughter, Faith Romine Eilders; brothers, Archie Pettyjohn, Eugene Pettyjohn, Alfred Pettyjohn, Luther Pettyjohn, Tommy Pettyjohn, Herman Pettyjohn, and Cecil Pettyjohn; and sisters, Leanna Wooten and Gertrude Davis.

Mrs. Wardlaw is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and David Romine; granddaughter, Angela Hutchins and her husband, Ethan; great grandchildren, Jacob Hutchins, Taylor Hutchins, Kaitlyn Hutchins, Annie Eilders, and Molly Eilders; and a number of nieces and nephews.
