Mrs. Rosemary McWhorter James Obit (ER)

MRS. ROSEMARY McWHORTER JAMES, age 89, of Virginia Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday morning in a local health care.

Affectionately known as “Miss RoseMary”, she was born in Henrietta, N.C. to the late Grady and Lola Belle Bridges Morehead on November 9, 1923. She graduated from Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. and taught school in Trion Elementary and Summerville Elementary Schools, and owned and operated Her own kindergarten for a number of years. Mrs. James was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a board member of Chattooga Library; she was a member of Horizon Baptist Fellowship. Mrs. James was preceded in death by her first husband, the late Joseph Winston McWhorter and latter, husband the late Willis Samuel James, brothers-the late Jim Morehead, Joe Morehead, and Bill Morehead.

Surviving are sons-Joseph Winston (Wink) McWhorter, Jr. of Athens, Robert McWhorter of Summerville, and Hill (Jenny) McWhorter, Sr. of Hoover, AL.; brother-O. G. Morehead of Summerville; Six Grandchildren, Nine Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews.

Mr. James Neal Warren Obit (M)

Mr. James Neal Warren, age 68, of Trion, GA, died Tuesday, October 29, 2013

at his residence.

 

Mr. Warren was born May 2, 1945 in Summerville, GA, the son of the late

Belton D. Warren and Florentine Savannah Cochran Warren.  He was retired from  Mohawk Industries.  Mr. Warren was a member of Harrell Street Church of God of the Union Assembly.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jackie Eugene Warren; and a sister, Nancy Gail Warren.

 Survivors include his children, Jack Edward Warren, James Ray Warren, Emily Diane Mountain, and Elizabeth Montre Warren; stepchildren, Greg Stanfield, Dustin Hines, and Crystal Blakely; brothers, Willie Jay Warren and William Lee Warren; sisters, Marsha Carol Farris, Martha L. Reece, Barbara L. Barnes, and Edith Darlene Gilley; 5 Grandchildren; and 7 Great Grandchildren.

 Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p. m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at Mason

Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Norton and David Van Horn officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenhills Memorial Gardens.  Pallbearers will be Gary

Blankenship, Michael Warren, Jacob Pearson, Justin Stone, Greg Stanfield,

James Blakely, and Chris Montgomery.

 

Mr. Warren will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive

friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Thursday, October 31, 2013.

Mr. Larry Tony Crawford Obit (M) Corrected

Mr. Larry Tony Crawford, age 49, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Tuesday October 29, 2013, at his residence.

 

Mr. Crawford was born October 27, 1964, in East Point, GA, the son of the late Otis and Alice Freeman Crawford. Tony was a day worker for Lookout Mtn Community Service. He was preceded death by a brother, Tommy Crawford; and a sister, Frances Landrum.

 

Survivors include his brothers, Kenneth Crawford, Danny Crawford, sister, Brenda Crawford, aunts and uncles, Martha and James Head, Mary West, Elizabeth Hopkins,  Barbara Bagley, and special care givers, Jeff Dotson,

Stephanie Smith and Laura Skates; and a special nurse, Darlia Minard.

 

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday November 1, 2013 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Thomas officiating with interment in the Johnson Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Dwight

Dotson, Mack Burke, Lamar Chapman, Thomas Minard, Ryan Ledford,

and Tommy Defore. Honorary pallbearers will be Staff and Clients from

Lookout Mountain Community Services Day Programs, Don Dotson,

Mr. Robert G. Treadaway Obit (M)

Mr. Robert G. Treadaway, age 90, of Summerville, GA, passed away Tuesday October 29, 2013 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Treadaway was born July 11, 1923, in Floyd County GA, the son of the late Robert Seaborn and Mollie Gaston Treadaway.  He was a self-employed accountant and veteran of WWII, purple heart recipient, former teacher at Lyerly and Summerville High School, principal at Lyerly High School and preceded in death by his wife, Mary J. Lowry Treadaway.

 

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sandra & Joe Gilbreath, son, Michael Treadaway, grandson and wife, Brian & Robin Gilbreath, granddaughter, Wendy Benton, 6 great-grandchildren, special niece and nephew, Lynne & Amir Tahamtan, Scott Treadaway.

 

Graveside and interment service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 2, 2013 from the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Larry Elliott officiating.

Mr. Donald Jackson Dickson Obit (C)

    Mr. Donald Jackson Dickson, age 81 of Taylor Street, Summerville, GA passed away Monday, October 28, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Dickson was born November 6, 1931 in Trion, GA.  He was retired from Bigelow-Sanford/Mohawk and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.  Mr. Dickson was a very loving husband and father. 

   Mr. Dickson was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Lee and Fannie Mae Hankins Dickson; and a sister, Frances Queen.

   Mr. Dickson is survived by his wife, Doris Dickson of Summerville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Angela Dickson of Cartersville, GA; grandchildren, Ashley (Shaun) Dickson Jankiewicz and Hailey (Eric) Dickson Rosenblum; great-grandchildren, Braldey and Tyler Rosenblum and Ansley, and Mallory Jankiewicz; sisters, Bonnie Hayes of Ocala, FL and Carolyn Tucker of Lafayette, GA.

   Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the Petitt Chapel of Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Decker officiating.  Interment will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

   Visitation for Mr. Donald Jackson Dickson will be Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at the Coffman Funeral Home-Petitt Chapel where the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to

2:00 p.m.

Mrs. Regina D. Jennings Smith Obit

Mrs. Regina D. Jennings Smith, age 39, of Menlo, GA, died Friday, October 25, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Smith was born November 15, 1973, daughter of James Lamar and Betty Ruth Williamson Jennings.  She attended Liberty Baptist Church and was the manager of Subway Restaurant in Summerville.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Terry Earl Smith; mother and step-father Betty Ruth Williamson Jennings and Gary Bailey; father and step-mother, James Lamar and Reba Jennings; daughter and son-in-law, Samantha Denyse Smith and Zack Dotson; sons and daughter-in-law, Terry Allan and Angel Smith, Aaron Dakoda Smith; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and Christian Jennings, Chriss and Heather Clark Bailey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan Renee Jennings and Keith Davis, Tina Jennings Roderick and Houston Elders; granddaughters, Anahlie Smith, Leilahni Smith, Carleigh Stoker, and Marleigh Stoker.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, October 27, 2013, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Stephen Payne and Min. Brian Williams officiating.

Mr. Austin Warren Obit (ER)

 

MR. AUSTIN WARREN, JR., age 83, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday evening in a Rome hospital following an extended illness. He was born on January 24, 1930, a son of the late Austin Warren, Sr. and Tennie Henry Warren. Mr. Warren was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church, a Veteran of Korea serving in the U.S. Army, His working life was in maintenance departments of the Georgia Rug Mill and the City of Summerville. He was preceded in death by wife the late Margaret Alred Easter Warren, a son the late Jack Austin Warren, and sister the Late Bonnie Allmon. Mr. Warren was a member of Chattooga Lodge #704 F & AM and the Chattooga Shrine Club.

Surviving are daughter and son-in-law-Denise and Rick Wyatt; step daughter-Paula Easter; grandson-Stacy Wyatt; great grandson-Will Wyatt; step grandson-Paul Chamlee; step great grandchildren-Addison Belle Chamlee, Avi Rose Chamlee, Jaci Elizabeth Cleveland, and Emily Alexis Craig; brothers-Robert Warren and Rick Warren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 26th, at 5:00 P.M. from Graveside in Summerville Cemetery with Dr. Paul Mason officiating and Masonic Rites by Chattooga Lodge #704 F & AM; Active Pallbearers members of Chattooga Shrine Club. The Family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 3:30 until the hour of service.
