Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” Kellett Wesson Stephens Obit (M)

Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” Kellett Wesson Stephens, age 90, of Summerville, GA, passed away Wednesday October 23, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Stephens was born on December 05, 1922 in Summerville, GA, to Judson LeRoy Kellett and Minnie Elizabeth Gass Kellett. She was the owner and operator of Jackie’s Beauty Shop for 30 years. Mrs. Stephens was a lifetime member of South Summerville Baptist Church and a life member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary 6688. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, LeRoy Kellett; twins, Katherine and Kellett Wesson; 1st husband, Charles “Purcell” Wesson; 2nd husband, E. D. Stephens; grandsons, Robin Meadows and Shawn Wesson.

Surviving are daughters, Linda Meadows, Trion, GA, Rose Mary Johnson, Summerville, GA, Hazel Millican, Menlo, GA; son, Charles Wesson, JR, Summerville, GA; honorary son and wife, Robert and Debbie Gaines; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Frank Ledford, Summerville, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Elizabeth Kellett, Huntsville, AL; granddaughters, Rhonda Lively and Renee Ware; grandsons, Ricky Johnson, Kyle Wesson, Davin Meadows, and Randy Meadows; great grandchildren, Landon and Khol Wesson, Micah and Zach Lively, Tommy Meadows, John and Jessica Ware, Angel Meadows Ware, Brandon Meadows, and Patrick Greene; great great granddaughters, Halli Lively and Danalee Lively.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Studdard and Bro. Mike Price officiating. Private burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be great grandsons, Tommy Meadows, Brandon Meadows, John Ware, Landon Wesson, Michah Lively and Zack Lively. Honorary pallbearers will be Nell Hunt, Louie and Gloria Carillo, and children, Abraham, Benji, Jericho, Aaron, and Gloria; Employees of Life Choice Hospice, Tammie Meadows, Robert and Debbie Gaines, Billy Brown, Brenda Copeland, Dustin Swafford, and Davin Swafford.

Mrs. Stephens will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 p. m. until the service hour on Saturday.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the South Summerville Baptist Church Building Fund.

Mr. Durham Thomas Obit (M)

Mr.  Durham Thomas, age 88, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Thomas was born August 27, 1925 in Chattooga County, GA, the son of the

late Frank Thomas and Jesse Durham Thomas.  He was a landscaper.  He was a member of the Emanuel Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Oleeta Thomas,  son, Chris Thomas and sisters, Esma Ramirez, Marie Hasty and Ann Hammonds.

Survivors include brother, Wallace Thomas, sister, Grisclda Trammell, grandchildren, Lisa Derryberry, Kristi Thomas, great-grandchildren, Josh & Jonathan Derryberry, Lindsay Holt and Kelsey O’Dell.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Friday, October 25, 2013, at the Mount Carmel Church Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating. Active pallbearers will be Billy Derryberry, Josh Derryberry, Jonathan Derryberry, Frankie Thomas.

Mr. Thomas will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 P.M. Friday.

MR. David Dawson, age 63, of Gore-Subligna Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013, morning at His residence. A lifetime resident of Gore Community, He was born to the late Frank J. and Frances Elizabeth Floyd Dawson on March 22, 1950.

Surviving are sisters and brothers-in-law, Frankie and Harold Gordon of Gore and Jan and Harold Ragland of Lyerly; brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Betty Dawson, Gene Dawson, and Joe and Mary Frances Dawson of Gore; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 24th, at 1:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with Rev. Mr. Jerome Ira Patterson, age 34, of Menlo, GA, died Sunday, October 20, 2013, at Floyd Medical Center.

 

Mr. Patterson was born July 5, 1979 in Rome, GA, son of Nancy Rebecca Blackmon Patterson and the late Charles Darrell Patterson.  He was a member of the Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center and was employed with Burger King.  He loved music, computers, and spending time with his niece and nephew.

 

Mr. Patterson is survived by his mother, Nancy Patterson; sister, Crystal Patterson Tucker; brother-in-law, John Tucker; niece, Leann Porter; and nephew, Zack Tucker.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 23, 2013, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Clements, Rev. Kevin Woods, and Rev. Andy Hutchins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Bill Parker, David Simpson, Kip Vaughn, Aaron Simpson, Brad Patterson, and Kenny Tomlin. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Lee, Luke Lee, Jonathan Scroggins, Aaron Simpson Sr., and Jeremy Kaykendall.

Mr. Ronald Lynn “Cowboy” Yoder Obit (C)

Mr. Ronald Lynn “Cowboy” Yoder, age 60, of Lafayette, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Yoder was born in Ducktown, Tennessee on September 12, 1953, son of the late Robert Eugene Yoder and Juanita Mozelle Passmore. He was employed with the Mount Vernon Mills in the Bleaching Department, and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Yoder was preceded in death by several siblings.

Mr. Yoder is survived by his wife and friend, Deborah Jean Yoder; sons and daughters-in-law, Ryan Todd Yoder, Ronald Gene and Angel Yoder, and Robert Reece and Kimberly Yoder; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Yoder; Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Betty and Terry Thompson; 16 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; a number of siblings, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services for Mr. Yoder will be held Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at 6:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Tyler Dill and Jeremy Allen Ball.

Mr. Michael Eugene Haygood, age 48, of Trion, Georgia, won his battle with cancer Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Hutcheson Medical Center.

Mr. Haygood was born in Summerville, Georgia on February 17, 1965, son of Joyce Barksdale Haygood and the late John Haygood, Jr. He was a member of the Berryton Bible Mission, the Chattooga Amateur Radio Club, former member of Chattooga Rescue, and had been employed as a truck driver with N. Georgia Lubricants. 

Mr. Haygood is survived by his wife, Kristi Haygood of Trion; Mother, Joyce Haygood of Summerville; God Daughter, Kelly Cameron; God Granddaughter, Emily Stang; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gerald and Karin Haygood of Trion, John Keith and Gail Haygood of Taylorsville, and Scott and Amy Haygood of Calhoun; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tina and Chris Pickle of Summerville and Tyra and Jerry Bennett of Centre, AL; mother-in-law, Nellie Eakin; special sisters-in-law, Judy Feist and Peggy Tillman; Special Friends, Dana and Dewayne Treadaway; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Haygood will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 12:00 Noon in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Rutledge officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the Haven of Rest Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, GA.

MRS. MARGARET H. “PEGGY” SMITH, age 68, of McGraw Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, October 18, 2013, morning in a Rome hospital, following a brief illness. Born in Oswego, N.Y. on February 18, 1945 to the late Vernon C. and Rachel Botty Hultz. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church PCA and retired manager of Maplewood Apartments. She was preceded in death by grandparents-Frank and Mary Donnabella Botty.

Surviving are Her husband, to whom she was married for 49 years-Tony J. Smith; sons-Benjamin (Christy) Smith of Summerville and Joe (Wendy) Smith of Birmingham, AL.; granddaughters-Leigha Cannon, Megan Vannatter, Kassie Smith, and Alex Palmour; grandson-Matthew Ashmore; great grandchildren-Braden Henderson, Noah Vannatter, Elijah Burdick, and Shawna Keen; sisters-Connie Kileman of Kissamee, FL., Rebecca Gregory of Birmingham, AL., and Rachael Hultz of Elgin, IL.; brothers-Jeff Hultz and Paul Hultz both of Elgin, IL.; several Nieces and Nephews.

Charlon Evaughn Cavin, age 75 of Gaylesville, passed away Monday, October 14th at her residence.

MR. BOBBY W. SHOOK, age 79, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013, afternoon in a Rome hospital. He was born in Statesville, N.C. on October 30, 1933, a son of the late Bill and Agnes Powell Shook. Mr. Shook was a member of Summerville First United Methodist Church, a Veteran of U. S. Army during Viet Nam, and was a Chemist retired from Goodyear Corporation. He was preceded in death by a grandson, the late Mark Price. Surviving are wife-Martha Busbin Shook; daughters-Susan Wilson, Sara Billings, and Angela Barton; sons-Scott Shook, Sandy Shook, and Tony Shook; a Sister-Peggy Bright, Ten Grandchildren, Five Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews also survive. Memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev.
