Mrs. Dorothy Jean Farmer, age 61, of Silver Creek, GA died Monday, August

26, 2013, at Floyd Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Farmer was born July 22, 1952 in LaFayette, GA, the daughter of the

late Thomas W. Godfrey and Frances Thressa Hill Godfrey.  She was a homemaker.

 

Mrs. Farmer is survived by a son, Tony Michael Farmer; brothers, Danny Godfrey

and Charles Godfrey; sisters, Glenda Goins, Sheila Teems, Autrey Wells, Frances

Pitts, and Belinda Coley.

 

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at Mason

Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Harkins officiating burial will follow in Subligna Cemetery.
 Active pallbearers will be Nathan Godfrey, Kevin Godfrey, Mark Godfrey, Bryce Godfrey, Ashley Godfrey, and Chris Godfrey. 
Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Godfrey, Ace Bailey, and Chris Cook.

Mr. Austin Maynard Obit (M)

Mr. Austin Maynard, age 73, of Summerville, GA died Monday, August 26, 2013,at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Maynard was born June 20, 1940 in Cherokee County, AL, the son of the late Gibson “Gib” Maynard and Jewel Minnie Deering Maynard.  He was a truck driver for Golden Star Carpet Mill.  Mr. Maynard was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church.  He was a veteran of the United States National Guard.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Maynard; and a sister, Leta Pickle.

Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-laws, Tammy R. and David Cordle,Austina L. Nichols, and Charlotte and Steve Drummond; sisters, Nadine Espy, Brenda Hughes, Debbie Cooper, Alice Ballinger, Sandra Corbin, and Melinda Floyd; brother, Thomas Eugene Maynard; grandchildren, Matthew Cordle, Bethany Cordle, Cherish Beard, Jonathon Beard, Kyle Nichols, and Nikki Dillard.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p. m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating.

Miss Tennie Mozelle Mitchell Obit (M)

Miss Tennie Mozelle Mitchell, age 88, of Rome, GA, formerly of Gaylesville, AL died Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Chulio Hills Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Miss Mitchell was born July 7, 1925 in Cherokee County, AL, the daughter of the late

Dayton Mitchell and Martha Ann Bray Mitchell.  She had worked at Lyerly Glove

Mill, Best Manufacturing, and Summerville Cotton Mill.  Other than her parents,

Miss Mitchell was preceded in death by sisters, Mattie Pearl Mitchell, Ola Bea

Mitchell, Janie Grant, and Mary Hicks; and brothers, Amos Mitchell, Clifford Mitchell,

Elbert Mitchell, and Hobert Mitchell.

Miss Mitchell is survived by several Nieces and Nephews; and special friends,

Delbert Patty and Margie Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. EST on Wednesday, August 28, 2013

at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Brown and Rev. Howard Odum officiating.

Burial will follow in Needmore Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Nephews.

Mrs. Polly Wright Obit (ER)

MRS. POLLY WRIGHT, age 78, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, August 23, 2013, in a Rome hospital. Born on October 17, 1934 in Trion, Georgia , was a daughter of the late Grady Lee and Bessie Walker Nunn. She was a devoted Mother, the wife of Rev. Billy Wright, a Charter member of Living Waters Ministries, and was associated with Wright Sanitation for many years. She was predeceased by a daughter the late Judy Wright Pilcher on November 22, 1991, grandson-the late Zachary Wright on February 24, 1986, and a sister-the late Dorothy Barnes.

Surviving are Husband-Rev. Billy Wright; daughter-Gwendolyn Joy and Tim McKee of Summerville; sons-Phillip Hugh and Denise Wright of Menlo and Billy Michael Wright of Summerville and former daughter-in-law Lori Wright; ten Grandchildren and twelve Great Grandchildren; sisters-Barbara Steele of Tallapoosa and Lillian Nunn Wallin of LaFayette; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 26th, at 4:30 P.M. from the Living Waters Ministries with Pastor Billy Wright, Steve Helms, and Dale Willingham officiating, interment in the Family plot of West Hill Cemetery. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, Sunday from 4 until 6 P.M.; She will also be instate at the Church , Monday from 2 P.M. til the hour of service.

Mrs. Katherine Virginia Humphreys Obit (M)

Mrs. Katherine Virginia Humphreys, age 86, of LaFayette, GA died Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the residence of her daughter in Menlo, GA.

Mrs. Humphreys was born June 21, 1927 in Dalton, GA, the daughter of the late John Cecil and Winnie Myrtle Price Hix.  She was formerly employed at Mt. Vernon Mills, with Dr. Hyden, as an LPN, the Trion Hospital and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.  Mrs. Humphreys was a member of Menlo First Baptist and the Young Adult Sunday School Class, and loved to garden and sew.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Humphreys was preceded in death by her husband, Clay Alfred Humphreys, Jr.; grandson, Terry Santana Kinsey; and brothers, Trammell Steed Evans, John Cecil Evans, Jr., and Perry Phillip Hix.

Survivors include daughters, Theresa G. Humphrey Canada and her husband, Larry, , Penny Renee Humphrey Bruce and her husband, Jerry, and Kathy Lynn Humphrey Richardson and her husband, Grady;  a brother, George Lamar Hix; Sister, Freida Hix Parker; grandchildren, Larry Jo Canada, Jr., James Clay Richardson, Samuel Anthony Bruce, and Shannon Richardson White; 9 Great Grandchildren; Aunt, Elizabeth Nelson; Nieces and Nephews; and special friends, Faye Bruce, and Pam Carnes.

Funeral services will be held Sunday August 25, 2013 at 5:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating.  Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Larry Elliott officiating.

Mr. Lester Fay Adams, Jr Obit (M)

Mr. Lester Fay Adams, Jr., age 76, of Gaylesville, AL, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Adams was born October 29, 1936 in Trion, GA, son of the late Lester Fay, Sr. and Lily Irene Williams Adams.  He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy having served in the Korean War, and prior to his retirement, was employed with the Walker County Telephone Company.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Florence Quinn Adams; a son, Jody Adams; and a sister, Ann Bulb.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy Perry; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff Adams, Les and Nancy Adams, Michael and Jana Adams; daughter, Leslie Adams; sister, Shirley Tucker; 7 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 25, 2013, from the West Hill Cemetery with Bro. Wesley Dalton officiating.

Mrs. Pat Nations Eden Obit (M)

Mrs. Pat Nations Eden, age 47, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away in the wee hours of Thursday, August 22nd, 2013, after a long, hard battle with a very aggressive form of breast cancer.  She was surrounded by her beloved husband and family.

Mrs. Eden was born October 26, 1965 in Fort Oglethorpe, GA, daughter of Hoyt Paul Nations, Sr. and Dallas Faye Kennedy Wofford.  She was a member of the Sonrise Community Church and was employed with Mohawk Industries.  Mrs. Eden was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrance Paul Nations.

Survivors include her husband, Josh Eden; sons, Brandon Carlton and T. J. Campbell; daughters, Brittany Smith and Krystal Campbell; mother, Dallas Faye Kennedy Wofford; father, Hoyt Paul Nations, Sr.; brother, Hoyt Paul Nations, Jr.; sisters, Paulla Nations and Christy Hilburn; 6 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Rick DeBerry.

Mr. Arthur Max Tucker Obit (M)

Mr. Arthur Max Tucker, age 95, of Jamestown, Al, passed away Wednesday August 21, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Tucker was born August 2, 1918, in Jamestown, AL, the son of the late Joe Issac and Lula Ann Burgess Tucker.  He was formerly employed at Riegel Textile, E. T Barwick Carpet Factory and Best Manufacturing.  Mr. Tucker was a veteran of WWII, having served in the United States Army. He was preceded in death by his wife. Luna Mae “Teet” Bentley Tucker; sisters, Carrie Tucker, Lena Mae Mason; brothers, Luther Tucker, Frank “Jack” Tucker, Elbert “Bert” Tucker, and Roy Tucker.

Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-laws, Leon and Janice Tucker, Jimmy and Judy Tucker, Roger Tucker; 8 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Clytie Sue Cox, age 74, of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Cox was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 16, 1939, daughter of the late Lyvoice Woodrow McDaniel and Lena Mae Stepp McDaniel Fortner.  She was a member of the Horizon Baptist Fellowship and was retired from the Westwood School District where she worked in the Cafeteria for over 25 years.  Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Wade Cox; an infant son, John David Cox; and her step-father, Woodrow Wilson Fortner.

Mrs. Cox is survived by her sons, Roger Stephen Cox, Michael Wade Cox, and Thomas Ray Cox all of Summerville; brother, Woodrow Wilson Fortner, II of Scottsburg, Indiana; sister, Donna Faye Griego of Livermore, CA; grandchildren, Andrew Cox, Courtney Cox, Alexandra Cox, Aaron Cox, Bryan Cox, Michaela Cox, Kyle Miller, Riley Miller, Casey Miller, Kevin Bradley, Timothy Bradley, Alex Haffly and Nick Maciel; great grandchildren, Kylie Bradley and Chase Wade Ploesh.
