Mr. David Lamar Bowman Obit (M)

Mr. David Lamar Bowman, age 66, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Bowman was born December 30, 1946 in Chattooga County, GA, the son of the late H. D. Bowman and Christine Aaron Bowman. He was retired from Mohawk Industries. Mr. Bowman was a member of Masonic Lodge #338. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Bowman.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Bowman; daughters and husbands, Darla and Chuck Petitt, Lori and Lance Johnson, and Carin Bowman; son and wife, Daniel Alan and Tabitha Brown; sister, Sue Black; grandchildren, Cass Petitt and Anna Renslow; and a special dog, Chico.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sanford Deberry officiating.

Mr. Bowman will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 p. m. until the service hour on Thursday.

Mr. Paul A.. Howell Obit (EP)

   Mr. Paul A. Howell, age 62 of Dickeyville Road, Trion, GA passed away Monday, March 18, 2013.  Paul was born June 9, 1950 in Trion, GA  He was Process Leader of the Fab/Finish Department of the Roper Corporation and was a member of the Ridgeway Baptist Church.
   
   Paul was preceded in death by his parents, James Calvin and Buina Pope Howell; grandparents, James Monroe and Rose Belle Howell and W. T. and Mary Pope; grandparents-in-law, Ted and Estelle Teague.

   Paul is survived by his wife of 25 years, Phyllis Teague Howell; sons, Joey Barnette (Alleigha Dennis) of Summerville, GA and Andy (Jaime) Howell of Trion, GA; grandsons, Tabren and Gabriel Barnette and Dexter Witt; brothers, Wayne (Janice) Howell and Waydell (Debbie) Howell of Trion, GA; mother-in-law, Pat Teague of Trion, GA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

   Funeral services will be  Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Owen "Bud" Davis officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. 

   Visitation for Mr. Paul A. Howell will be Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Clara elle Chapman Obit (M) corrected

Mrs. Clara Belle Chapman, age 96, of Jackson, GA (formerly of LaFayette)

died Monday, March 18, 2013 at Westbury Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Chapman was born January 17, 1917 in Rome, GA, the daughter of the late

James Lewis Walker and Plinie Pauline Jackson Walker.  She was a member of

Shiloh Baptist Church.  Mrs. Chapman was a farmer.  She loved gardening and

Cooking.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by 10 Brothers and

Sisters.

 

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Curtis & Brenda Chapman;

sisters, Frances Ward; grandchildren, Marty Chapman and Mitzi Carder;

Great-grandchildren, Cody Carder, Kaleigh Carder; and several Nieces and

Nephews.

 

Pallbearers will be Jerry Huggins, Bobby Quarles, James Quarles, Robbie Quarles, Brad Ward, Gary "Pinky" Ward, Danny McGraw, and Jimmy Walker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Chapman's Nieces.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at

Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Scoggins officiating.  Burial

will follow in Subligna Cemetery.

Mr. Randy Michael “Skidrow”Cromer Obit (M)

Mr. Randy Michael “Skidrow” Cromer, age 53, of Gadsden, AL died Monday, March 18, 2013 from in injuries received in an automobile accident.

 

Mr. Cromer was born July 28, 1959 in Summerville, GA, the son of Patricia Jenkins

Cromer and the late Willie Joe Cromer.  He was employed with AA Logging.

 

Mr. Cromer is survived by his wife, Vicki Porter Cromer; sons, Jo Jo Cromer,

Cody Joe Cromer, Billy Porter, and Jayson Quarles; mother, Patricia Cromer;

sister, Vickie Morris; and 6 Grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Mason

Mrs. Willie Ruth Tucker Obit (EP)

Mrs. Willie Ruth Tucker, age 92 of Allen Street, Summerville, GA passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Oakview Nursing & Rehab Center.  Mrs. Tucker was born August 6, 1920 in Trion, GA.  She was retired from Best Manufacturing and was a member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph S. Tucker; and her father and mother, Chester Boyd and Cora Mae Stiles Lancaster.

Mrs. Tucker is survived by her children, G. Dwayne (Lynn) Tucker of Pensacola, FL, Larry Joe (Mavis) Tucker of Gaylesville, AL, Randy Tucker of Summerville, GA, & Sandra (Glenn) Sharp of Summerville, GA; sister, Katie (Troy) Bigham of LaFayette, GA; 11 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Russell officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Tucker, Stacy Crabtree, Brent Bigham, Larry Higgerson, Daniel Boutwell, and Derry Maddux and they are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mr. Tiny Wilburn Brown Obit., (M)

Mr. Tiny Wilburn Brown, age 77, of Menlo, GA died Sunday, March 17, 2013

at Floyd Medical Center.

 

Mr. Brown was born June 21, 1935 in Trion, GA, the son of the late Chiles

Fowler Brown and Ludie Mae Bandy Brown.  He had worked at Georgia

Rug Mill, Stansell Appliance and he worked for himself as an appliance repairman.

Mr. Brown was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.  He was a founding

Member of the Chattooga County Rescue Squad and he served in the Chattooga

County Civil Defense. He was a member of Cloudland Volunteer Fire

Department, Menlo Volunteer Fire Department, and the Cherokee County Fire

Association.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife,

Inez Brown; brothers, D C Brown, Paulie Brown, Jeff Brown, and Frank Brown;

sisters, Mozelle Houston, Alice Brooks, Isadora “Dot” Reynolds, and Mary

Elizabeth Brown; and a step-mother, Gussie Skates Brown.  

 

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Libbie and Perry Carnes, Tammy

and James Johnson, Lisa and Marty Johnson; sister, Jane Adams; grandchildren,

Bobby Fennell, Joseph Fennell, Jennifer Reece, Emily Hampton, Maggie Johnson,

Sam Johnson, Casey Christol, Matthew Christol, and Cody Johnson; and 10

Great Grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at

Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Green and Mr. David Luther

officiating.  Burial will follow in Ami Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be

Mrs. Audrey Faye Christol Obit (M)

Mrs. Audrey  Faye Christol, age 78, of Summerville, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Christol was born in Lafayette, Georgia on July 22, 1934, daughter of the late Vandell Mathis and Ethel Woodall Mathis.  She attended Summerville Schools and was a former employee of the Montgomery Knitting Mill  and was retired from the Creeling Department of the Mohawk, Lyerly Plant.  Mrs. Christol was a member of the Berryton Church of God, and was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Christol; son, Dennis Christol, daughter, Iris Ann Christol, and Brothers, Monroe Mathis and Herbert Mathis.

Mrs. Christol is survived by her daughters, Donna Faye Christol and Lila Frances Payne; a sister, Azilee Edwards; grandchildren, Ashla Christol, Heather and Justin Thompson, Aaron Christol, Casey Christol and Matthew Christol; 3 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Christol will be held Monday, March 18, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Chaplain George Nix officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery

Pallbearers will be Jeff White, Ricky Edwards, Steve Edwards, Andrew Edwards, Timothy Edwards, Mike Edwards, James Edwards, and Billy Evett.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the nursing staff of United Hospice.

Mr. Robert C. Nicholson Obit (ER)

MR. ROBERT C. NICHOLSON, age 85, of Shady Lane-Trion, Georgia passed away Thursday morning at his residence. Born in Ducktown, Tennessee on May 7, 1927, a son of the late James Isaac and Bertha Styles Nicholson, Mr. Nicholson was a member of Pennville Church of Christ and was retired from the bleaching department of Riegel Textile Corporation.

Surviving are His wife, Frances Broome Nicholson; daughters-Frances Lenora Pence of Trion, Pat Pierce of Rock Springs, Elaine Clements of Trion, Jean Meadows of Douglasville, and Carol Waters of LaFayette; son-Ron Nicholson of Sarasota, FL.; several Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 16th, at 3:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will David Saylors, Bob Wesson, Josh Pilcher, David Pierce, Nicholas Young, Cody Young, Eddie Britton and Jeff Cooper. Mrs. Nettie Pauline Hixon Obit (M)

Mrs. Nettie Pauline Hixon, age 79, of Trion, GA, passed away Friday, March 15, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Hixon was born in Chickamauga, Georgia on June 6, 1933, daughter of the late Thomas Henry Bradley and Luttie Bell Wooten Bradley.  She was a member of the Central Avenue Baptist Church and was retired from the Mt. Vernon Mills.  Mrs. Hixon was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Edward Hixon, Sr.; a daughter, Sheila Ann Davis; brothers, James Bradley, Edward Bradley, Hugh Bradley and William Bradley; and a sister, Dorothy Durham.

Mrs. Hixon is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ralph E. Hixon, Jr., and his wife, Jo Anne, and Thomas Randall Hixon and his companion, Connie Campbell; brothers, Lebron Bradley and Leroy Bradley; sisters, Mamie Hartline and Brenda Goff; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hixon will be held Sunday, March 17, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. John Leatherwood and Rev. Owen “Bud” Davis officiating.  Interment will be Monday, March 18, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. in the Tennessee Georgia Memorial Gardens.
