Mrs. Louise Brown Dillard, age 91, of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday February 10, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Dillard was born August 23, 1921, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Stonewall Jackson Brown and Mattie Jane Sprayberry Brown. She graduated from Summerville High School in 1940. She was the salutatorian of her class. She lettered in basketball for four years, serving as team captain her senior year. She was a well respected charter member of Wayside Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many decades. She was employed by the Farmers and Merchants Bank/BB&T for approximately 50 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dillard was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Dillard, seven sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Ivan(Sonny) Dillard and Linda Reynolds Dillard, grandchildren, James Matthew Dillard and Gina Adams, great-grandchildren, Ethan Crider, Bailey Dillard, Mia Crider; nieces, Louise Brown Helton, Margaret Dillard, nephews, Rex Cook, Gary Hinton, special cousin Phyllis Howell, and a number of great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Wayside Baptist Church with Rev. Don Knowles and Rev. Mike Odom officiating. Mrs. Dillard will also lie in state at the church from 1:30 until the hour of service on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are James Dillard, Bailey Dillard, Ethan Crider, Clint Dillard, Steven Helton, Lewis Railey. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of Wayside Baptist Church.

Mrs. Dillard will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday February 13, 2013.

MR. MELL R. SMITH, age 87, of Conyers, Georgia, formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013, in Conyers, following a sudden event. A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, He was born to the late L.F. and Maude Bennett Smith on March 2, 1925. Mr. Smith attended the Summerville First Presbyterian Church PCA, was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry serving in WW II, where He was awarded the Purple Heart, and was retired engineer for Midwest Operating Engineers. He was preceded in death by first wife the late Leola T. Smith and a son, the late Raymond Taylor Smith.

Surviving are His wife-Nelda Padgett Smith; grandchildren-Matthew Smith of Memphis, TN. and Katheryn Ann Smith of Jonesboro, ARK.; step daughter-Debbie Gayler of Conyers; sister-Shirley Crane of Menlo; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Greg King officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 10:00 A. M. until the hour of service.

Mrs. Ada Mae Rosser Bridges Morgan passed from this life in the wee hours of Saturday morning (2/9/13) at her residence. She was 95 years of age. Mrs. Morgan was born on May 8, 1917 in Jackson's Hollow at a place where Chattooga County meets Floyd County. A daughter of the late George Lee and Bessie White Rosser, she was very proud of her ancestors who were early settlers to Chattooga County. She was named for her grandmother, Ada Hudgins White. With the exception of one year spent near Waycross, Georgia as a child, she was a lifelong resident of Chattooga County. Joining shortly after its charter, Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church for almost 80 years. She attended church activities regularly until the age of 90 and at her death was the oldest member of the church. She was married to Joe Henry Bridges in Chattooga County on December 24, 1933. After Mr. Bridges' death, she married Gilbert A. Morgan in Dade County, Georgia on January 23,1982. Having been employed at the Trion Company in the Glove Mill, she was retired from Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc. in Berryton. She also worked for a time at Advance Glove in Rome, Georgia. She was formerly an active member of the Home Demonstration Club in the Little Sand Mountain Community. She was a three-time cancer survivor. She took solo trips to Florida until the age of 80; and drove her car until the age of 90. She also enjoyed church activities, ceramics, cooking, gardening, family history, flowers-especially her "Old Maids", quilting, traveling, and activities of the North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation. She was loved by all that knew

her, but she was especially adored by her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her

husband, Mrs. Morgan is preceded in death by her siblings: Annie Bell Bishop, Rose Murdock, Ballenger Rosser, Frances Rosser, Frank Rosser, John Rosser, Milton Rosser, and Helen Satterfield.

Mrs. Morgan is survived by a host of relatives. Survivors include her children: Jerry (Sue) Bridges, Summerville; Patty Shepherd, Gainesville, Florida; and Ted Bridges, Leesburg, Alabama. Mrs. Morgan is also survived by six grandchildren: Bambi Bridges, Menlo; Barry (Pam) Bridges, Summerville; Ben (Sylvia) Bridges, Macon, Georgia; Betsy (Kevin) Hayes, Summerville; Angie Keen, Earleton, Florida; and Chris (Leslie) Shepherd, Melrose, Florida. She is survived by 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and former daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Bridges.  She is also survived by siblings: Hilda (Bob) Reynolds, Lyerly; Josephine Baggett, Rome, Georgia; and Paul Rosser, Summerville. Gratitude is expressed to her special friend and caregiver, Marie Henderson; caregiver, Bridget Iwens; caregiver, Carolyn Blackmon; caregiver, Sharon Hughes; and to the entire SolAmor Hospice Staff. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted in the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. The services will be conducted by Ben Bridges and the Reverend Ricky Studdard. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Barry Bridges, Chantry Bridges, Joseph Frady, Haydn Hayes, Holden Hayes, Kevin Hayes, and Chris Shepherd. Mrs. Dorothy (Polly) Norton, age 78, of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday February 10, 2013 in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Norton was born November 3, 1934, in Centre, AL, the daughter of the late Irby and Lucille Smith Abernathy. She was a home maker and a former employee of the Montgomery Knitting Mill. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, George Tomlin, 2nd husband Walter Norton, son, Edward Tomlin, brothers, David and Junior Abernathy.

Survivors include her nieces and care givers, Trish Rich, Kathy Terry, Judy Slaughter, Kayla Warren, Tonya Dawson, Melinda Clark, and a nephew, Tim Abernathy, earthly angels, Amanda Miller, Katrina Kirby, special friend, Robert Chaney.

Graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday February 11, 2013 from the South Carolina Camp Ground Cemetery, with Rev. Jerry Rutledge officiating with burial in the family plot at South Carolina Camp Ground Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Kyle Parker, Scott Ash, Jack T. Rich, Jack W. Rich, Jay Ledford, Ryan Kirby. Honorary pallbearers the Staff and Employee's of Oakview Nursing and Rehab.

Mr. Daniel L. (Danny) Coker, age 79, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Saturday February 9, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Coker was born September 23, 1933, in Shannon, GA, the son of the late William R. and Willie Johnson Coker. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer having served in the U.S. Navy during Korea and Vietnam conflicts.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Elanie Hartline Coker, son, Gary Coker, daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Troy Lewis, 4 grandchildren, Michael Coker, Melanie Gautreau, Eric Sparks, Tonya Sparks, and 9 great-grandchildren

Graveside and interment service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday February 11, 2013 from the AMI Cemetery with Minister Thomas Broome officiating. Active pallbearers, Danny Hegwood, Wayne Hurley, John Shankles, Danny Hartline, Ronnie Prince, Larry Hartline.

Mrs Nancy Evelyn Thomas, age 72 of Trion Highway, Trion, GA passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at her residence.  Mrs. Thomas was born March 14, 1940 in Trion, GA.  She was retired from Wal-Mart and was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church.

   Pallbearers will be Tim Trammell, Scott Crowe, Barry Keith Thomas, Jr., Dameon Ingram, Jeff Trammell, & Barry Keith Thomas.

Mr. Michael Keith “Mike” Alexander, age, 51, of Summerville, GA died Friday February 1, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Alexander was born December 15, 1961 in Rome, GA, the son of LeRoy Alexander, JR and the late Marjorie Lee Keith Alexander. He was the former owner and operator of Shamblin Hardware. Mr. Alexander was a Member of the 1980 graduating class of the Chattooga High School, where he was a member, former captain, and voted an MVP of the football program. It was in the football program that he lettered three out of his four high school years. Mr. Alexander attended Jacksonville State and was a member of the ATO Fraternity. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Summerville, and was a member of the Summerville Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time Mr. Alexander participated and coached in the little league baseball program and loved to hunt and fish.

Survivors include his children, Ross Alexander and Kaitlyn Alexander; father, LeRoy Alexander; Kay Alexander, mother of his children; sister and brother-in-law, Tricia and Mark Headrick; special friends, Penny Ploof,Pax Busbin, Mark Weaver, and Mark Benedict.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Greg King and Rev. Tom Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mark Benedict, Mark Weaver, Wilson Mann, Andy Cash, Alan Fletcher, Randy Pauley,and Phil McGuire. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Lanier, Steve Lanier, Scott Lanier, Malcolm Birge, and all present and former members of the Summerville Fire Department.

Mr. Alexander will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p. m. Saturday, February 2, 2013.

Mrs. Tressie Eloise Estus, age 71 of Davis Road, Trion, GA passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Estus was born August 26, 1941 in Trion, GA.  She was a member of the Bethel Memorial Baptist Church, was retired from Mount Vernon Mills where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club, and was a member of Senior Citizens Center.  

Mrs. Estus was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Paul Estus; and her father and mother, Judson P. and Monteal Dooley Williams.

Mrs. Estus is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Greg Latta and Debra and Michael Taylor  ofTrion, GA and Marcella and Jose Cabrera of Trenton, GA; her grandchildren, Andy Latta, Ben Latta, Philip Cabrera, Nina Cabrera, and Faith Grace Cabrera; great-grandson, Knox Latta; brother and his wife, Judson and Glenda Williams of Texas. 

 Funeral services will be Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Marteen and Rev. Marc Williams officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Visitation for Mrs. Tressie Eloise Estus will be Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.

Pallbearers will be the following gentlemen and they are asked to assemble at the funeral home on the day of the service by 10:30 a.m., Steve Keith, Kirk Estus, Don Estus, Steve Blevins, Mark Cothran, and Jamie Mitchell.  Honorary Pallbearers will be all members of the Bethel Memorial Baptist Church and the Senior Center.
