Mrs. Waynie P. Edge Obit (EP) Revised

Mrs. Waynie P. Edge, age 86, of Thomas Road, Trion, GA passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013.  Mrs. Edge was born November 14, 1926 in Cherokee County, AL.  Mrs.Edge grew up in Menlo, GA, and then moved to Summerville, GA.  She lived in Summerville, GA and Trion, GA since 1980, after living in Detroit, MI for six years.  She was retired from Wire Tech and was a active member of the Pennville Christian Missionary Alliance Church. 

Mrs. Edge was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert R. Edge, Sr., parents, Tim and Emma Pickle; brothers, Wilburn and Harold Pickle.

Mrs. Edge is survived by step-daughters, Jennifer Gibson and Juanita Hogge of Nashville, TN and step-son, Hubert R. Edge, Jr. of Savannah, GA; three grandchildren, and four great-grand children; two sisters, Maurene Wallin and Haynie Speer of Summerville, GA; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, March 1, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pennville Christian Missionary Alliance Church with Rev. Carlos Martinez and Rev. George Palmer officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. 

Visitation for Mrs. Waynie P. Edge will be Thursday, February 28, 2013 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. 

Pallbearers will be the following gentlemen and they are asked to assemble at the funeral home on the day of the service by 10:30 a.m.; Mark Pickle, Gerald Pickle, Jason Pickle, Tim Pickle, Jason Hill, and Jared Hill.  Honorary pallbearers will be nieces & great nieces and the Adult Sunday School Class of the Pennville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.

Mrs. Sarah Ruth Bearden Obit (M)

Mrs. Sarah Ruth Bearden, age 79, of Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, February

26, 2013.

 

Mrs. Bearden was born July 29, 1933 in Rome, GA, the daughter of the late Clarence Franklin Rollins, SR and Annie Ruth Myers Rollins.  She was retired

from Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Bearden was a member

of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in

death by her husband, D A Bearden; sister, Myrtle Ashley, and brothers,

Grady Rollins and Floyd Rollins.

 

Survivors include her children Virginia Bearden Stratton, Frank “Tony” Bearden

and wife, Darlene Bearden, Jimmy Bearden and wife, Lisa Bearden, and Donald

Bearden; sisters, Gail Wade and Louise Wade; brother, Clarence Franklin Rollins,

JR; 7 Grandchildren; 10 Great Grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Mason

Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Howell and Rev. Don Knowles officiating.

Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Greg

Bearden, Dalton Bearden, John Dodson, Josh Dodson, Chuck Rollins and

Johnny Rollins.  Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

 

Mrs. Bearden will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive

friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

 

Mrs. Burma Bailey Obit

Mrs. Burma Bailey, age 94 of Oak Street, Trion, GA passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Oakview Nursing & Rehab Center.  Mrs. Bailey was born January 11, 1918 in Dekalb County, AL.  She was retired from the LaFayette Shirt Factory and a member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church.

Mrs. Bailey was preceded in death by husband, Roy Bailey; son, Duard Bailey; daughter, Margaret Faye Bailey; grandson, Allen Bailey; father and mother, William Alexander Bethune and Charity Rose Bethune.

Mrs. Bailey is survived by grandson, Taft Bailey; daughter-in-law, Edie Bailey of Powder Springs, GA; granddaughters, Tiffany Cook of Powder Springs, GA and Peri Dockins of Acworth, GA;  great grandsons, Aaron Bailey and Jake Bailey of Atlanta, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Ms. Mattie Grace Brown Obit (EP)

Mattie Grace Brown, age 79 of 120 McMillan Street, Summerville passed away, February 23, 2013 at her residence, she was born July 9, 1933 in Chattooga Co., Georgia daughter of the late George & Mary Dawson Williams. She was retired from Mt. Vernon Reigel Textile and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her daughter & son-in-law Patsy & Junior Bowman, Summerville; brother, Walter Williams, Lafayette; several nieces & nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, February 25, 2013 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Norton officiating with interment to follow in West Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Bobby Joe Fowler Obit (M)

Mr. Bobby Joe Fowler, age 75, Summerville, GA died Friday, February 22, 2013 at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Fowler was born February 1, 1938 in Summerville, GA, the son of the late Jim Perry Reeves Fowler and Lucille LuAllen Fowler. He was a member of Full Gospel Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James Fowler, Grady Fowler, Harold Fowler, Charlie Fowler, Perry Fowler, and Jim Fowler; and a sister, Virginia Colbert.

Survivors include his wife, Tivis Sue Fowler; daughter, Elisa Ann Fowler Bradley; brother, Jerry Wayne Fowler; grandchildren, Joshua David Bradley and Justin Tyler Bradley; and a number of Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thurston Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Lyerly Cemetery.

Mr. John Adams Obit (Wright)

Mr. John Adams, age 74, of 78 Railroad St., Lyerly, GA. passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mr. Adams was born in Chattooga County, Georgia, son of the late Lon Adams and the late Lula Benton Adams.  He attended Chattooga County School system, and was a faithful member of Pond Spring A.M.E. Zion until his passing.

Mr. Adams is survived by a loving wife of 49 years, Mrs. Helen Adams of Holland; five sons, Berwick (Sandra) Adams of Summerville, Anthony (Julie) Adams of Carterville, Timothy (Rhonda) Adams of Armuchee, Kenneth (Tammie) Adams of Summerville, and Ladell Adams of Holland; two daughters, Elaine (George) Johnson of Rome, and April (Tyrome) Scales of Holland; one brother Mose (Esther) Adams; four sisters-in-law, Earnestine Adams of Holland, Ella Vera Adams and Addie Sanders both of Rome; Lillie Fain of Coosa, and Charlotte Fain of Farrell, AL; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

 Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Pond Spring A.M.E. Zion Church, Holland, GA with Rev. Anthony Brown Pastor, officiating. The body will lie instate at the church from 1:00 PM until the service time. Interment will follow in Pond Spring Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence, 78 Railroad St.

Ms. Ella Louise Adams Obit (Willis)

 

MS. ELLA LOUISE ADAMS- Age 79, Of Menlo, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Floyd Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Louise Almond, brothers, Billy Almond, Tommie Almond, children, Cleveland Brown, Willie D. Adams, and Linda Gurley.

Survivors are her children, John (Leslie) Adams of Menlo, Georgia, Deborah Adams of Summerville, Georgia, Rick (Jackie) Adams of Harrisburg, North Carolina, and Cristel (Eli) Bonds of Cartersville, Georgia. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2012 at 1:00 P. M. at AMI Cemetery in Menlo, Georgia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M. at Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church in Menlo, Georgia.

Mr. Charles William “Chuck” Porter Obit (M)

Mr. Charles William “Chuck” Porter, age 51, of Menlo, GA, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Porter was born February 23, 1961, in Miami, Fl the son of Patricia Joan McGraw Campbell and the late Charles Alfred Porter. He had worked for Padgett Trucking as a truck driver. He attended Cedar Chapel Church.

Survivors include mother, Patricia Joan McGraw Campbell, brothers, Jerry Porter, Tom Porter, special friend, Brenda Guffey.

Miss Clara Jane Johnson, age 78, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday February 15, 2013, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.

Miss Johnson was born July 26, 1934, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Lyle and Pluma Fletcher Johnson. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Summerville, a retired RN having worked at Georgia Baptist Hospital for 37 years, and Floyd Medical Center for 10 years.  Miss Johnson was preceded in death by sisters, Qunnie Johnson, Sara Johnson Lewis, brother, Lyle Johnson, JR, nephew, Jimmy Lewis.

Survivors include special niece Johnnie Lewis, nieces,  Kay Johnson, Devita Johnson, great-nieces, Kimberly Lewis Hanson, Cristy Humble, Kelly Wamsley, Melissa Johnson, Brooke Barden, Dylan Johnson,  nephews, Marris Johnson, Harold Johnson, great-nephews,  Clifton Lewis, Wesley McConnell, Michael Hogan, 10 great-great nieces and nephews sister-in-law, Juanita Johnson Hogan.

Mr. Ivan Bruce Weevie Obit (M)

Mr. Ivan Bruce Weevie, age 80, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Weevie was born October 4, 1932 in Rushville, IN, the son of the late Raymond Jack and Nellie Fox Weevie. Mr. Weevie was a graduate of Inidana School For The Blind. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mr. Weevie was a past member of Chattooga County Civil Defense, the C B Club, where his handle was Bicycle Red, and the Odd Fellows of Indianapolis, IN. He was a member of the Chattooga Council of the Blind, North Georgia Talking Book Club, and the Chattooga County Historical Society. He was retired from Harriett and Henderson Cotton Mill , where he had worked for 47 years. He loved to fish, cane chairs, and listen to his short wave radio. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patsy Posey Weevie; son, Joseph Weevie; brother, Russell Weevie; and a sister, Nellie Fox

Survivors include his son, Randy Weevie and Lynn Lewis; and a brother, Charlie Weevie, Lynn, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Skoretz officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.
