Mrs. Julia Pauline Anderson Obit (M)

Mrs. Julia Pauline Anderson, age 86, of Lyerly, GA died Thursday, January 24, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Anderson was born August 31, 1926 in Earlysville, VA, the daughter of the late Thomas Oswin Huff and Julia Marshall Huff. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Anderson was a member of Lyerly First Baptist Church and a past member of Lyerly Civic Club. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Anderson; and brothers, Everette Huff and Thomas Huff.

Survivors include her children, Charles Anderson, JR and wife, Teresa Anderson, James Anderson and wife, Debbie Anderson, Joseph Anderson, Brenda Morrow and husband, Jesse Morrow, and Phyllis Moore; brother, Dennis Huff; sisters, Sarah Brooks, Betty Lawson, and Shirley Huff; 11 Grand Children; 17 Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Sunday, January 27, 2013 at The Lyerly First Baptist Church with Rev. James Baird officiating. Interment will follow in Johnson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Matt Anderson, Nick Dover, Josh Mitchell, Drake Mickley, Jordan Adams, and Evan Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Golden Bells Sunday School Class of Lyerly First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Anderson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Saturday.

Ms. Kia Malaika Christopher Obit (willis)

Ms. Kia Malaika Christopher- age 35, of Summerville, GA passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 with her family at her bedside.  She was the daughter of the late Mr. Raymond Southern, Sr. and Mrs. Edna Southern.  She was also predeceased in death by her son, Mikia Javon Mathew Bryant and grandparents, Mr. Willie Christopher and Mrs. Audrey Christopher.

Survivors are daughters, Kay'Shay Bryant; dear friend, Michael Bryant; three sisters, Darlene Christopher of Summerville, GA; Holly Corbett of Rome, GA; and Monica (Min. Bobby) Calhoun of Dalton, GA; brother, Raymond Southern, Jr. of Chatsworth, GA; nephews Zack Christopher and Mark'lin Christopher; aunts, Mary Christopher and Clara Dixon; uncle, Donald Southern; cousins, Lori McCCalluns, and Ronnie Wayens; a host of other cousins, relatives and friends.

Services for Kia Christopher will be held Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 1:00pm from The New Spirit and Truth Assembly of Jesus, 487 Scoggins St. with Rev. James Loveless officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the services.  Interment will be in the Penniville Community Cemetery.  Arrangements by Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, GA. 

Rev. Archie Lee Noles Jr. Obit (EP)

   Rev. Archie Lee Noles, Jr. age 71, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Rev. Noles was born December 14, 1941, in Cherokee County, AL.  He was preceded in death by father and mother, Archie Lee Noles, Sr. and Mary Poovy Love Noles; brothers, Lloyd Noles, Billy Noles, and Dean Noles; and sisters, Estell Powell and Mozelle Taylor.

   Rev. Noles was retired from the City of Summerville Water Department, was a member of the West Berryton Faith Temple Holiness Church, was a member of the Chattooga County Shrine Club, and the Summerville Masonic Lodge. 

   Rev. Noles is survived by wife, Glenda Joy Noles of Summerville, GA; sons, Chris Noles and Heath Noles of Summerville, GA; grandson, Brendan Noles of Summerville, GA; brother, Bud Love of Summerville, GA; sisters, Mary Denney of Lyerly, GA and Belle Bailey of LaFayette, GA; step-mother, Jeanette Noles of Summerville, GA; step-brothers, Bobby Arp and Larry Arp of Summerville, GA; step-sister, Cathy Gorham of Summerville, GA; several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services will be held Friday, January 25, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from the West Berryton Faith Temple Holiness Church with Rev. John Mann, Rev. Bill Cox, Rev. Kevin Norton, and Rev. Jerry Rutledge officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery. 

   Rev. Noles will lie-in-state Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

   Pallbearers will be Chris Noles, Gene Noles, Tony Noles, Gary Morgan, Tim Simpson, and Dennis Noles.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Ron Turner, Jack Smith, Junior Hughes, and Pete Denson.  These are asked to meet at the church at 1:45 p.m. on Friday.

Mr. Billy Connie Smith Obit (M)

Mr. Billy Connie Smith, age 69, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday January 18, 2013, at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Smith was born November 9, 1943, in Gaylesville, AL, the son of the late Frank and Bessie Nicholson Smith. He was retired from Mt Vernon Mills where he worked in the steam plant, he was member of the New Spirit and Truth of Jesus Christ Church.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Joyce Smith, children, Billy Trelane Smith, Kelvin Ray Morrison, Mimi Reshelle Morrison, Melissa Smith, sisters, Lorene Cothran, Ernestine Brand, Charlotte Silmon, 3 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m.Friday January 25, 2013 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop V.T. Hardin officiating with interment in the Allgood Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Terry Silmon, Tommy Smith, John Silmon Ronald Brand, Kevin Christopher, Fitzgerald Christopher.

Mr. James Winston Taylor Obit (M)

Mr. James Winston Taylor, age 49, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Saturday January 19, 2013, at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Taylor was born March 1, 1963, in Trion, GA, the son of the late William “Bill” and Lorene Jones Taylor. Mr. Taylor was employed with North GA Recycling. Survivors include his wife, Chris Taylor, daughters, Amanda and Kevin Rhinehart, Jennifer Taylor and Eric Slater, sister, Rhonda Taylor, brothers, William “Bill” Taylor, JR, Leon Taylor, grandchild, Hunter Rhinehart.

 

Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday January 23, 2013 from the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. David Vanhorn officiating. Mr. Taylor will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Jimmie Sue Mathis Obit (Miller & Richards)

Mrs. Jimmie Sue Mathis age 65, of the Armuchee community passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013.

Mrs. Mathis was born February 24, 1947, in Bayminett, AL, daughter of the late Jim McAteer and Nettie McAteer. Prior to becoming a homemaker Mrs. Mathis worked at Crona Crafts and Mohawk. She was a member of the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Leon Mathis; sisters, Nancy Jenkins and Betty Gentry; and two brothers, A.H. McAteer and Paul McAteer.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and LeAnn Mathis; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Chris Godfrey; grandchildren, Haley and Blake Mathis and Chandler Godfrey; sisters, Doris McAteer and Ola Belle Potts; and brothers, James McAteer and Tommy McAteer. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 2:00 P.M. in the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church with Rev. Larry McCoy and Rev. Brandon Bishop officiating. Mrs. Mathis will lie-in-state at the church from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral service. Interment will follow in the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday in the Heritage Chapel of the Miller & Richards Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as active pallbearers and are requested to meet at the church on Wednesday by 12:30 P.M.: John Lowery, Bill Mathis, Roger Mathis, Eddie McAllister, Terry Owens, Chris Owens, and Chris Cargle. Mr. Alan Ladon “Red Puppy” Mason Obit (M)

Mr. Alan Ladon “Red Puppy” Mason, age 56, of Summerville, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Mason was born in Trion, GA on February 5, 1956, son of the late Jude Mason and Katherine Mason.  He was employed with Superior Mechanicals and was of the Baptist Faith.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Mason was preceded in death by a son, Matthew L. Mason, and a brother, Steven M. Mason.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, Brenda Brown Mason of Summerville; son, Mark A. Mason of Summerville; stepchildren, Philip and Robin Watts of Gaylesville, John B. and Wanda Brown of Trion, Eric J. Lesperance of Atlanta; and Amanda Broady of Bend Oregon; sisters, Mary Ann Mason of Lyerly and Judith Mason of Rome; 8 Grandchildren and a number of friends he worked with at Superior Mechanicals.

Mr. Mason will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 4 until 6 P.M.

Following his visitation, Mr. Mason will be cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.

Mrs. Betty Johnson Brooks

Mrs. Betty Johnson Brooks, age 81 of Chickamauga, passed away on Friday, January 18, 2013. Bettywas a resident of Chickamauga and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church since 1952. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Arnold Johnson; second husband, John W. Brooks; daughter, Paula Carter; and sisters, Maxine Gillilan, Lorraine Ashworth and Frances Morgan.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Pam (Lamar) Thomas of Chattanooga and Karen Johnson of Hixson; brother, Rev. James Braddy of Trion; grandchildren Kimberlee Carter, Jared (Mandi) Powell and Corey Jewell; great granddaughters, Emma Powell and Chloe Teague; sisters-in-law, Virginia Barkley of Summerville and Elizabeth Johnson of Chickamauga; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, January 21, 2013 in the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Lee Griggs and Rev. Reed Wright officiating. Interment will follow in Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday and prior to the service on Monday. Mr. Michael Gary Dillard (M)

Mr. Michael Gary Dillard, age 64, of Summerville, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at a Birmingham Hospital.
 
Mr. Dillard was born in Trion, Georgia on April 6, 1948, son of the late Burl Dillard and Mary Adams Dillard.  He was employed with Julie Industries as a Technical Director, was a member of the Four Mile Baptist Church, the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce, the Chattooga Tourism Committee and was on the Board of Directors for the Pinhoti Trail Association.  Mr. Dillard was an avid cyclist and loved to hike.
 
Mr. Dillard is survived by his wife, Kathy Reynolds Dillard; sons and daughter-in-law, Britt Dillard, and Brad and Amber Dillard; six grandchildren, Riley Dillard, Braden Dillard, Katie Dillard, Chad Dillard, Tyler Dillard and Josh Dillard; 2 great grandchildren, Audrey Dillard and Rylan Dillard; and a number of Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
 
Funeral Services for Mr. Dillard will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Doyle Kelley, Rev. Sanford Deberry and Rev. Tommy Littleton officiating.  Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Mr.John Ervin England III Obit (M)

 Mr. John Ervin England, III, age 41, of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

Mr. England was born in Summerville, Georgia on June 1, 1972, son of John Ervin England, Jr. and the late Ruby Savage England.  He was employed in the construction industry and was of the Baptist Faith. 

Mr. England is survived by a son, Jonathan Dexter “Lake” England; father, John E. England, Jr.;  and sisters, Teresa Wood and Jennie Love.

Mr. England will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 6 until 8 P.M. 

Following his visitation, Mr. England will be cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.
