Mr. Zachary Camden Greene Obit (ER)

MR. ZACHARY CAMDEN GREENE, age 6, of Packer Dairy Road Summerville, Georgia, passed away Friday January 4, 2013, from injuries received in an automobile accident in Murray County. Born on February 24, 2006, he was the son of Marshall and Susan Byars Green, also of Summerville.

Survivors include his parents, Grandmother Retha Pare of Florence, South Carolina and Step Grandmother Kathy Byars of Rome.

 

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 11th, at 12:00 Noon from the Trinity Baptist Church, Calhoun, GA., with Pastors’ Larry Scoggins and Billy Murdock officiating, interment in Rome Memorial Park, Rome, GA.  Pallbearers, Jeff Norton, Brad Harris, Rob Byars, Austin Kirby, Joshua Byars, Jeremy Mitchell, and Herbert Dodd.  Visitation will be Thursday, January 10th, from 6 until 9 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Lillie Margie Smith Obit (M)

Mrs. Lillie Margie Smith, age 94, of Trion, GA died Monday,

January 7, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Smith was born June 27, 1918 in Wilmay, AL, the daughter

of the late Andrew Jackson Whitfield and Mattie Mooneyham

Whitfield.  She was a homemaker and was a member of New

Generation Christian Church of God.  Other than her parents, she

was preceded in death by her husband,  J D Smith; daughters,

Billie Joyce Oates and Deborah Marie Baxter; sons, Jasper

Howard Smith and Jerry Michael Smith.

 

Survivors include sons, Bobby Wayne Smith, Sammy Larry

Smith, and Ricky Nelson Smith; daughters, Edna Margene Reynolds,

Lana Faye White, Melanie Elaine Sparks, and Regina Ann Rape;

brother, Edgar Whitfield; 65 Grandchildren; 110 Great Grandchildren; and several Great Great Grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, January

10, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joel Glenn

and Rev. Danny Harkins officiating. Burial will follow in West

Hill Cemetery.   Active pallbearers will be Grandsons. Honorary

pallbearers will be all members of New Generation Christian Church of God.

 

Mrs. Smith will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family

Mr. Aaron Michael Dooley

 

MR. AARON MICHAEL DOOLEY, age 30, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday (January 4, 2013) afternoon from injuries received in an automobile accident near LaFayette, Georgia.  Born in Rome, Georgia on November 15, 1982,  he was an electrician.
Surviving are daughter-Kenzlee Dooley; step son-Jacob Whitaker both of Summerville; mother-Robbie Baker Dooley of Summerville; father-Tony Dooley of Noble, GA.; maternal grandmother-Imojean White of Summerville; sisters-Shannon Baker of Holland, GA. and Desiree Lorene Dooley of Summerville; brothers-Jason (Teresa) Baker of Cedartown and Nicholus (Amanda)  Dooley of Summerville; special friend Elizabeth Baker, several Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday January 7th, at 2PM, from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Harkins, Brother Orville White Jr., Pastor Chris Guice and Brother Jamie Godwin officiating; interment in the Summerville Cemetery. Mr. William F. Smith Obit (EP)

William F. Smith, age 93, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013.  Mr. Smith was born in Coal Valley, Walker County, AL on October 2, 1919 to John Moody Smith and Alma Green Smith.

Mr. Smith served in the United States Army for twenty-one years (1941-1962), retiring with the rank of Specialist First Class E-7.  He served in New Guinea, Island of Morti, Phillippines, Korea, Okinawa and Germany.  While servivng in Korea in 1950, he was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge, and Bronze Star with valor.  In Germany he was awarded the 28th United States Army Artillery Group Certificate of Achievement for outstanding performance of duty as Hercules Fire Control Platoon Sergeant during the period March 14, 1960 to October 27, 1960.  After retiring from the United States Army, he worked in the oil fields in Oklahoma until he moved to Trion, Georgia in 1986.

Bill married Mamie B. Airington on July 5, 1947.  Mamie died in January 1980 after an extended illness.  Bill married Madge Lee Howell on July 18, 1986.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Madge Howell Smith; his daughter, Susan Sturdivant of Ratcliff City, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Kelly (Butch) Scifres of Ringling, Oklahoma, Gilbert Sturdivant and Keri (Clifford) Self of Alma, Oklahoma; and 4 great grandchildren.

Survivors also include brother, Franklin D. Smith of Llano, Texas; and sister, Betty Sue Brusenhan of Andrew, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mamie B. Smith; son, James William Smith; son-in-law, Bill Sturdivant; parents, John Moody Smith and Alma Green Smith; 3 brothers, Lester, John, and Bobby Ray; and 2 sisters, Lounell and Doris Jean.

Graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at West Hill Cemetery, Trion, Georgia, with Rev. Robert Patterson officiating.  The family will receive friends at Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Naomi Ledbetter Obit (EP)

Mrs. Naomi Ledbetter, age 83 of Back Penn Road, Summerville, GA passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.  Mrs. Ledbetter was born June 25, 1929 in Cherokee County, AL.  She retired as Manager of the Finishing Plant Lab of Mount Vernon Mills and was a member of the Summerville First Baptist Church.

   Mrs. Ledbetter was preceded in death by husband, James Everett Ledbetter; father and mother, W. C. "Bill" Roberts and Mary Lucille McCullough Roberts.

   Mrs. Ledbetter is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Jimmy Pinion and Diane and Mike Poole of Summerville, GA; granddaughters and spouses, Jennifer & Ryan Gravley, Jessica and Casey Bramlett of Summerville, GA; grandsons and spouse, Michael and Brandie Poole and Jordan Poole of Summerville, GA; great-grandchildren, Daniel Bramlett, Blake Bramlett, Jaxon Gravley, and Everett Poole.

Mr. James F. "Jimmy" Wooten, age 66 of Ballard Drive, Lafayette, GA passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Hutcheson Medical Center.  Mr. Wooten was born April 1, 1946 in Walker County, GA.  He was Church of God by faith.

Mr. Wooten was preceded in death by father and mother, Alvin F. and Estelle Nichols Wooten.

Mr. Sandy Howard Ward, age 86, of Menlo, GA, died Sunday, December 30, 2012 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Ward was born January 28, 1926 in Blanche, AL, the son of the late William David Ward and Molly Burk Ward.  He was retired from Harriet and Henderson Cotton Mill.

Mr. Ward is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret Lea Ward; sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Linda Ward, Andrew Ray Ward, Sammy Wayne Ward, and Richard Dale and Pam Ward; daughters and sons-in-law, Bernice Uvon Ward, Annette and Ron Stewart, Terry Denise “Tracy” Easton, and Mary Hellen Bond; 23 Grandchildren; and 29 Great Grandchildren.

Mr. Fred Willis Smith Obit (M)

Mr. Fred Willis Smith, age 77, of Trion, GA, passed away Sunday December 30, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Smith was born March 18, 1935, in Canton, GA, the son of Frank M. and Ruby Lee Sutton Smith.  He was retired from Mt Vernon Mills, a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean Conflict.  Other than his parents he was preceded in death by  a brother, Gene Smith.

Survivors include his wife, Jennine Smith, children, Rev. Randall L. Smith, Twin City, GA,  Kathy D. Smith, Summerville, GA,  grandchildren, Jason R. Mrs. Ona Bee Hurley Obit (ER)

MRS. ONA BEE HURLEY, age 85, of Adairsville, Georgia, formerly of Summerville, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012, in a Rome hospital. Born in Boaz, Alabama on March 28, 1927, She was a daughter of the late Joseph Arthur and Mattie Gardner Wilson. Mrs. Hurley was Church of God by Faith, and was employed by Harriett-Henderson Mills in the winding department retiring several years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Fred Billie Hurley. Surviving are daughters-Wanda Brady of Adairsville, Nancy Harris of LaFayette, Freddie Thomas of Roberts Dale, Al., and Debbie Hare of Andalusia, Al.; sons-Ronald Hurley and Donald Hurley both of Adairsville; 13 Grandchildren, several Great Grandchildren, Nieces, and Nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 31st, at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Malcolm Harris and Rev. Mrs. Mildred Ozel Caldwell Obit (M)

Mrs. Mildred Ozel Caldwell, age 75, of Menlo, GA, died December 27, 2012 at her residence.

 

Mrs. Caldwell was born August 19, 1938 in Fort Payne, AL, daughter

of the late Mary Eunice and Fred Burrage.  She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and prior to retirement, she worked as nurse

at Paulding Memorial Hospital.  Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death

by her husband, Clarence “Sonny” Caldwell.

 

Mrs. Caldwell is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Carol Caldwell Bond;

one grandchild, Jason A. Bond, Sr.; and great-grandchilden, Jason

A. Bond, Jr., Tymeria Bond, and Terrell Stokes.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Caldwell will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, December 30, 2012 from the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Green officiating.  Burial will follow in AMI Cemetery.
