Mr. James Billy Hall, age 56, of Ringgold, GA died Thursday, August 02, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Hall was born February 7, 1956 in LaFayette, GA, the son of the late Noah Bolton Hall and Audrey Evelyn Jenkins Hall. He was employed with B & J Machinery. Mr. Hall was a member of Springs Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Noah McArthur Hall, Truman Foye Hall, and Jerry Wayne Hall; and a son, Shawn Hall.

Survivors include his wife, Terri Hall, Ringgold; son and daughter-in-law, James Andrew and Eugenia Hall, Fayetteville, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, James Austin and Chereie Hall, Trion, GA, Henry Richard and Barbara Hall, LaFayette, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Johnny Housch, Trion, GA; grandchildren, Shawn Hall and Levi Hall; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doug and Judy Tapkin, Rod Claybaker and Geannie Brinkley; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandy and Mark Dowdy; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hall will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2012. Private burial services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Betty Joyce Cagle Obit (M)

Mrs. Betty Joyce Cagle, age 71, LaFayette, GA died Thursday, August 2, 2012

at Erlanger Medical Center.

 

Mrs. Cagle was born August 24, 1940 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the

late James Alfred Deering and Ruby Cavin Deering.  She was retired from

Roper Corporation.  Mrs. Cagle was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church.

She loved life and spending time with her nieces and nephews, which she

chose as her children.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death

by a brother, Buddy Deering.

 

Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Calvin and Pat Deering;

sister and brother-in-law, Deloris and Ricky Philpot; best friend, Shirley

Love; nieces and nephews, Steve Woodard, Randy Woodard, Pepper

Stanfield, Heaven Woodard, Shaun Witt, Cheyenne Woodard, Shane Witt,

April Seghorn, Robin Calvert, Hope Deal, Stormy Deering, Dustin Seghorn,

Angela Calvert, Andreah Calvert, Alyssa Calvert, Tina Branham, Bryant Deering,

Emily Branham, Nathan Braham, Maliki Deering, and Ashlyn Deering.

 

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p. m. Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the

chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Dewey Boyd, Rev. Leroy McKissick,

and Rev. Robert Patterson officiating.  Burial will follow in Ami Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Randy Woodard, Steve Woodard, Shaun Witt, Bryan

Deering, Gordon Boyd, and Loy Langston.

Mrs. Mary Frances Inez Brown, age 73, of Menlo, GA died Thursday, August 2, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Brown was born November 22, 1938 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Albert W. Smith and Maggie L. Brown Smith. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy David Smith, sisters, Shirley Smith Rabdeau and Janice Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Tiny W. Brown; daughters and husbands, Libbie and Perry Carnes, Tammy and James Johnson, and Lisa and Marty Johnson; sisters and husbands, Lula Mae Gentry, Leona Prince, Carolyn and Hoyt Hanks, Betty and Kelly Wentz, Minnie Smith, Beth and Jack Wentz; brothers and wives, George and Mary Sue Smith, Junior and Shirley Smith, Wiley and Marsha Smith; grandchildren, Casey Christol, Matthew Christol, Cody Johnson, Bobby Fennell, Joey Fennell, Jennifer Reece, Emily Hampton, Maggie Johnson, and Sam Johnson.

Mrs. Eleanor Deane High Morgan Obit (M)

Mrs. Eleanor Deane High Morgan, age 93, of Summerville, GA died Monday,
July 30, 2012 at her residence.
 
Mrs. Morgan was born April 9, 1919 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of
the late Lottie Gaines High and William Bradford High.  She was a retired bookkeeper from Bohanan’s and Packer Shoe Store.  Mrs. Morgan was a
lifetime member of Unity Baptist Church.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam Packer.
 
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Deane and Clint Young;
granddaughter, Kellie Renslow and husband, Jamie Renslow; great-grandchild,
Anna Renslow; niece, Jan P. Hardeman; nephew, William R. Packer;  and
a special caregiver, Barbara Kinsey.
 
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Thursday, August 2, 2012 at
Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Rev. James Austin and Rev. Horace
Stewart will officiate.

Mrs. Mattie Maxey Obit (M)

Mrs. Mattie Maxey, age 94, of Summerville, GA died Friday, July 27, 2012 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Maxey was born May 3, 1918 in Smithville, TN, the daughter of the late George Cantrell and Cora Ervin Cantrell. She was a housewife. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Smith, a son, Jerry Branch, a brother, Rev. James Cantrell; sisters, Pauline Tracy and Audrey Sullivan; and a grandson, Dennis Cooper.

Mrs. Maxey is survived by a daughter, Barbara Knowles; 6 Grandchildren, 8 Great Grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, July 29, 2012 at West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Lavon Humphries officiating.

Mr. Charles Darrell Patterson Obit (M)

Mr. Charles Darrell Patterson, age 60, of Menlo, GA died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Patterson was born February 16, 1952 in Rome, GA, the son of Lillie Nix and the late Dexter Patterson. He was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills and was a member of the Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center. Mr. Patterson was a very talented Artist, Musician and Songwriter.

Mr. Patterson is survived by his wife, Nancy Patterson; children, Jurome Patterson, Crystal Patterson Tucker and husband, John Tucker; brothers, Steve Patterson, Ricky Patterson, and Timothy Patterson; grandchildren, Leanna Porter and Zack Tucker; and a number of nieces nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 29, 2012 at 3:30 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Hutchins and Rev. Kevin Woods officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Mr. Robert Lamar McGill

Mr. Robert Lamar McGill, age 80, of Menlo, GA died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mr. McGill was born June 18, 1932 in Wildwood, GA, the son of the late Robert McGill
and Janie Moore McGill.  He was retired from Combustion Engineers.  Mr. McGill
was a member of Faith Baptist Church.  He was a loving husband and father.  Mr.
McGill was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roger Byrd McGill.
 
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Amos McGill; daughter and son-in-law, Robin
and Billy Sumrall; son, Robert L. McGill, III; sister, Geneva Busby; grandchildren, Harley Sumrall, Jordan Sumrall, and Megan Walker.
 
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating.  Burial will follow in LaFayette City Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Nephews.

Mr. Joe DeForest Eleam JR

Mr. Joe DeForest Eleam, JR, age 90, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday,
July 24, 2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mr. Eleam was born August 3, 1921 in Chelsea, GA, the son of the late
Joe DeForest Eleam and Mattie Lee Killian Eleam.  He was retired from
Georgia Power – Southern Company.  He was a member of the Summerville
First Baptist Church.  Mr. Eleam was a veteran of the United States Marines,
having served in WWII.  He was a member of the Chattooga Masonic Lodge
#704, and he was retired from the Summerville Volunteer Fire Department.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Phillips.
 
Mr. Eleam is survived by a brother-in-law and a sister-in-law, Tom and
Vonnie Phillips; several Nieces and Nephews; and several Great Nieces and
Nephews.
 
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at
Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Summey officiating.
Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens with military
services by Shanklin-Attaway Post #5 Honor Guard.  Active pallbearers will
be Scott Copeland, Joseph Eleam, Daniel Eleam, Alvin Phillips, Charles
Copeland, and Bob Eleam.  Honorary pallbearers will be all members of
Summerville Fire Department and Chattooga Masonic Lodge #704.

William Floyd “Billy” Noles

Mr. William Floyd “Billy” Noles, age 72, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his residence.

Mr. Noles was born October 25, 1939 in Gaylesville, AL, the son of the late Archie Lee Noles and Mary Love Noles. He was retired from the City of Summerville and he attended Four Mile Baptist Church. He participated in and coached youth sports activities. He was also an umpire for many years, and he played in the Men’s Softball League. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Other than his parents, Mr. Noles was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Noles.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Smith Noles; sons and daughter-in-law, Gene and Shelia Noles, Andy Noles, Mike Noles; daughters and sons-in-law, Beth Noles Peace and Bruce Peace, Tammy Noles Wallin and Casey Wallin; step-mother, Jeanette Noles; step-children, Lance Corporal Ethan Saylors and Ashley Wilson; brothers, Bud Love, Lloyd Noles, Archie Noles, Bobby Arp, and Larry Arp; sisters, Belle Bailey, Mary Faye Denney, and Cathy Gorham; 10 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Elsie Faye Cooper Grogan Obit (M)

Mrs. Elsie Faye Cooper Grogan, age 93, of Menlo, GA died Sunday, July 22,
2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mrs. Grogan was born February 22, 1919 in Chattooga County, GA, the
daughter of the late William Pink Dempsey and Annie Mae Willingham
Dempsey.  Mrs. Grogan was retired from Mt. Vernon Mill.  She also
retired from Wal-Mart after17 years of employment.  She was the oldest
living member of Beersheba Presbyterian Church, where she served as
an elder.  Other than her parents, Mrs. Grogan was preceded in death by
her first husband, Ted Cooper; second husband, Carl Grogan; and a sister,
Helen Rich.
 
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, H. D. “Bub” and Wanda Cooper;
daughters, Ann Ward and Joan DuBois; brothers, Harrel “Bud” Dempsey
and William “Tab” Dempsey; grandchildren, Leigh Ann Cooper, Matt Cooper,
Wendy Cooper, Jeff Ward, Melody Davis, Robert DuBois, and Melissa
Braswell; 8 Great-Grandchildren; and a number of Nieces, Nephews, and
Cousins.
