Mr. Artemus Ladell Adams Obit (M)

Mr. Artemus Ladell Adams, age 81, of McDonough, GA died April 1, 2012 at his residence in McDonough.

Mr. Adams was born April 11, 1930 in Chesterfield, AL, the son of the lateArthur Lee Adams and Petrinella Finley Adams. He was retired from National Casting. Mr. Adams was president of Secor Gardens Neighborhood Association. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife of 59 years, Velma Adams; sons, Dr. Richard Adams and Arthur Adams; daughters, Patricia Adams-Purnell and Alisa Adams; sister, Portia Vaughn; brothers, Ahmed Adams and Vance Adams; grandchildren, Matthew Swan, Tyron Wright, and Bianca Adams; great-grandchildren, Tiffany Swan, Michael Swan, and Trevor Swan.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Friday, April 6, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Roach officiating. Burial will be in Allgood Cemetery.

Mr. Adams will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour on Friday.

Mr. Thomas J. McDaniel Jr. Obit (Willis)

Mr. Thomas J. McDaniel Jr., 81 of Summerville, passed away Saturday, March 31st at Our country Home Hospice in LaFayette, he was retire from the U.S.  Postal Service and the U.S. Army and was a member of Cedar Spring Baptist Church..

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Wiggins McDaniel of Summerville, a son and daughter in law Jeffrey and LuWillow McDaniel of Franklin, TN. 2 daughters Pamela and Elizabeth McDaniel of Illinois, one granddaughter Kristinal Burrell of Illinois,  five brothers Oliver McDaniel of North Carolina, Bobby and Rebecca McDaniel of Augusta, Lazaus and Lorain McDaniel of Gonzales, Louisiana, Alfred and Mary McDaniel of Lyerly and Steve McDaniel of Gaylesville, three sisters Dorothy Brown of Decatur, and Georgia McDaniel and Patricia Jackson of Massachusetts, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive….

Funeral services will be Thursday at 1PM at the Cedar Spring Baptist Church in Lyerly, with Pastor James Clark and other ministers officiating…His remains will lie in state at the church from noon until the funeral hour…The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service…Willis Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Mr. Thomas J. Mrs. Elizabeth Powell Obit (M)

Mrs. Elizabeth Eugenia Powell, age 84, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, April 1, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Powell was born July 8, 1927 in Chattooga County, GA the daughter of the late Hines William and Lizzie Kinsey Warren. She was retired from Montgomery Knitting Mills. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Powell; and a son Phillip Shankles.

Survivors include her brother, Brimp Warren; grandchild, Kristina Ann Elliott; great grandchildren, Peyton Elliott and Haley Elliott; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p. m. Tuesday, April 3, 3012 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken Anderson, Danny Arp, Carlton Vines, Blake Weaver, Jason Winters, and Booger Bennett.

Mrs. Velma Leola “Vera” Hunter Obit (M)

Mrs. Velma Leola “Vera” Hunter, age 86 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Oak View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Hunter was born in Carroll County, Georgia on July 30, 1926, daughter of the late Tucker Sims Posey and Clarissa (Mindie) Davis Posey. She was retired from Bigelow-Sanford Carpet Mill. Mrs. Hunter is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harold Hunter; a daughter, Glenda Rutledge; a son & daughter-in-law, Kenneth (O.B.) & Lynda Hunter; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Hunter will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday April 3, 2012 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rex Simcox, Rev. Todd Smith and Tommy Dover officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sherman Rutledge, Leon Woody, Charles Littlejohn, Richard Peace, Wayne Mann, Bud Thomas, Honorary pallbearers will be Grandchildren.

Ms. Alice Wilma Bone Obit (M)

Ms. Alice Wilma Bone, age 84, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at her residence.

Ms. Bone was born May 1, 1927 in Duck Spring, AL, daughter of the late Riley and Betsey Barnett. She was a homemaker and a member of Black Creek Baptist Church.

Ms. Bone is survived by a son, Horace “Cigar” Bone, and brothers, Charles Barnett, Fred Barnett, and Rev. Clarence W. Barnett.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 2, 2012 in the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence W. Barnett officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry Lindsey, Tim Lindsey, Allen Bloodworth, J. L. Barnett, David Barnett, And Chuck Barnett.

Mr. James Leroy Bond Obit (Perry)

Mr. James Leroy Bond age 86 of Cedar Bluff passed away Wednesday March 28th at his residence.

Funeral services for Mr. Bond will be 12: PM Saturday at Perry Funeral Home Chapel in Centre, Alabama with Rev. Mark Cosby officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Bluff cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5: – 7: PM Friday.

Mr. Bond was preceded in death by his wives Hazel Lucille Bond, Joann Bond, Brothers; Claud Bond Jr., and Jack Bond.

Mr. Bond was born in Atlanta, GA and was a native of Abbeville, SC the son of the late Claud and Lillie May Jones Bond Sr. James was a veteran of World War II and was of the Baptist faith.

Infant Marilynn Alysabeth Shell

Infant Marilynn Alysabeth Shell was born and died on March 27, 2012 at Dekalb Regional Hospital in Fort Payne, AL.

Marilynn is the daughter of Marcus and Fallon Bullard Shell. Other than her parents she is survived by grandparents, Rickey and Melissa Bullard, Leonard and Martha Shell, and Lori Stoudt Moran; great grandparents, Charles and Martha Shell, Jackie and Clara Bailey, Jim and Wanda Gossett, Gene and Margie Stoudt, and Wayne and Petricia Jennings.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Violet Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Leo Crane and Fred Bullard officiating. Pallbearers will be Rickey Bullard and Leonard Shell. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Slayton and Julio Manuel.

Infant Marilynn will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. 12:00 p. m. on Saturday.

 

Mrs. Deborah Marie Baxter Obit (M)

Mrs. Deborah Marie Baxter, age 54, of Trion, GA died Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Baxter was born March 31, 1957 in Montgomery, AL the daughter of Lillie Marjorie Whitfield Smith and the late J. D. Smith. She was employed at Ryan’s Restaurant. Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Ford Baxter; brothers, Jap Smith, Jerry Smith; and a sister, Billie Oates.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, April and Daniel Ash, and Melissa and Aaron Simpson; mother, Lillie Marjorie Smith; brothers, Bob Smith, Ricky and wife, Connie Smith, and Sam Smith; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margene and Tommy Reynolds, Faye White, Regina and David Rape, Melanie and Tony Sparks; grandchildren, Courtney Abernathy, Zak Abernathy, Emily Simpson, Caitlyn Simpson, Trey Simpson, and Conner Simpson; special friend, Terry Williams.

Mrs. Mary Frances Henry Obit (M)

Mrs. Mary Frances Henry, age 90, of Haywood Valley, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at her residence.

Mrs. Henry was born in Walker County, Georgia on July 12, 1921, daughter of the late Will and Molly Baker. She was a member of the South Commerce Street Church of Christ and worked as a riveter at Lockheed Aircraft during World War II and was a wife, mother and homemaker. Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her siblings, Willie Mae Robinson, Johnnie Chandler, Jessie Carpenter, Ruby Chandler, Bonnie Jay and James Baker; son, Terry Henry, daughters-in-law, Bobbie Dial and Sheila Henry and a step-grandson, Todd Kiser.

Mrs. Henry is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ralph Henry; children, Jimmy Dial, Brenda (Earl) Kinsey, Jane (Bob) Hawkins, Steve (Joan) Henry, Faye Henry, Nancy (Tim) Hester, and Molly (Butch) Zablan; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Henry will be held Friday, March 30, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Minister Robert Palmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Randy Dial, Doug Kinsey, Graham Hester, Trae Zablan, Andrew Campbell, Caleb Campbell, Alan Campbell and Rick Topham. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the South Commerce Street Church of Christ and Staff of Heyman Hospicecare at Floyd.

Mrs. Phyllis Ann Kinsey Obit (M)

Mrs. Phyllis Ann Kinsey, age 68, of Trion, GA died Monday, March 26, 2012 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Kinsey was born May 21, 1943 in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Fred and Evie Jones Burke. She was a homemaker and she was a member of the East Trion Church of God. Other than her parents, Mrs. Kinsey was preceded in death by a son, Barry Todd Lambert; a grandson, Jonathan Wooden; and a sister, Shelby Gentry.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Joe Kinsey; children, Timothy Richard Lambert and Tammy Darlene Blackmon; sister, Mary Norris; brothers, Ed Burke, Melvin Burke, Leo Burke, and John Burke; 7 Grandchildren; and 9 Great-grandchildren.
