Mrs. Jessie Mae Fincher

Mrs. Jessie Mae Fincher, age 100 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Fincher was born in Broomtown, Alabama on September 14, 1911, daughter of the late George Milton Tallent and Adele Barclay Tallent. She was retired from J’s Supplies as a sales clerk. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fincher was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Edward Postel Fincher and a daughter, Bobbie Fincher Kendrick.

Mrs. Fincher is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Weyman and Linda Fincher of Cleveland, TN; three grandsons and their spouses, Matthew and Beth Fincher, Bradley Fincher, Michael and Jennifer Chastain all of Tennessee; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Kendrick Huggins of Trion; two great grandsons and three great granddaughters.

Graveside and Interment Services will be held Friday, November 25, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Matthew Fincher, Bradley Fincher, Michael Chastain, Great-grandson, Ben Huggins and nephews, Wayne Tallent, and Jim Fleming.

Mrs. Fincher will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5 until 7 P.M.

Friends and Family wishing to attend the graveside services for Mrs. Fincher are asked to meet at the Summerville Cemetery Friday at 11:45 a.m.

Mrs. Maureen Virginia Dolbow Obit (M)

Mrs. Maureen Virginia Dolbow, age 64, of Trion, GA passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Dolbow was born September 21, 1947 in Summerville, GA the daughter of Sara Jane Smith Edwards and the late E. W. Edwards. She had previously worked with North Georgia Home Health. Mrs. Dolbow was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Joseph Dolbow.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Debbie Pinion, Summerville, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Ray and Craig South, Kennesaw, GA; Angela and Rodney Harris, Silver Creek, GA; mother, Sara Edwards, Summerville, GA; brother, William Edwards, Auburn, AL; grandchildren, A. J. Carter, Tyler Ray, Logan Pinion, and Samantha Dalton; and a special niece, Lisa Venable.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, November 25, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Patterson officiating. Entombment will follow in LaFayette Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Wayne Venable,Johnny Caylor, Daniel Caylor, Matt Eaves, Rob Wagoner, and Larry Gillreath.

Mrs. Dolbow will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 p. m. Friday.

 

Mr. Carl E “Jimmy” Strickland

Mr. Carl E. “Jimmy“ Strickland, age 86, of Trion, GA passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at Oakview Nursing and Rehab. Mr. Strickland was born August 16, 1925 in LaFayette, GA, son of the late Olin Strickland and Lula Murphy Strickland. He was a self-employed used car dealer and a member of the Central Avenue Baptist Church.

Mr. Strickland is survived by his wife, Joann King Strickland, son, Denny Strickland, daughter, Gayle Brenwald, sister, Barbara Patterson, 3 Grandchildren, 3 Great-Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great-grandchild.

Funeral Services for Mr. Strickland will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Ray, Rev. Robert Patterson and Rev. John Leatherwood officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Garden. Pallbearers will be Wayne Tallent, Bud Willis, John Shankles, Larry Nixon, Donnie Hammond, James Spence, Mark Ballard, Tommy Ballard. Mrs. Diane Wilson Burrage (EP)

Mrs. Diane Wilson Burrage, age 58 of Greeson Street, Summerville, GA passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 at  Cartersville Medical Center, Cartersville, GA.  Mrs. Burrage was born November 13, 1953 in Summerville, GA.  She was a housewife and Baptist by faith.  
   Mrs. Burrage was preceded in death by father, Bill Ralph Wilson and mother, Elva Taylor Wilson; brother, Jimmy Wilson; and sister. Edna Faye Sequoah.
   Mrs. Burrage is survived by husband, David Lee Burrage of Summerville, GA; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeremy and Tracy Burrage of Guntersville, AL and Fabian Ray and Kristy Burrage of Dogtown, AL; sister, Gloria Jean Hilton of Alabama and brother, Billy Ray Wilson of Texas; 7 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.
   Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 2PM from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Wilborn officiating.  Interment will be in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Lt. Colonel William Lancaster Obit M

 

Lieutenant Colonel William Allen Lancaster, Retired, age 84, of Hilton Head, S.C., passed away Friday November 18, 2011 in Hilton Head.
Colonel Lancaster was born May 3, 1927, in Trion, GA, the son of the late
Leonard and Ethel Williams Lancaster. He was retired from the U.S. Army having served in WWII, the Korean, and Vietnam Conflicts, & a member of the Old Guard. He attended the Grace Community Church, was a member of the Rotary Club, founding member of the Hilton Head Rescue Squad, former board member of Buford County EMS, Hilton Head Public Service Commission, a Realtor and a member of the National Realtor Association.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margo Lancaster and a son, Joseph Lancaster.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Wade Lancaster,  sons, Patrick Allen Lancaster, William David Lancaster, brother, Jim Lancaster, sister, Jean Lancaster, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held 1;00 p.m. Tuesday November 22, 2011 from the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Robert Patterson officiating with interment in the West Hill Cemetery with full Military Honors.

Mrs. Thrasher was born on April 5, 1927 in LaFayette, GA. She was retired from the Weaving Department of Riegel Textile Corporation. Mrs. Thrasher attended the South Commerce Street and the Subligna Road Churches of Christ. Mrs. Thrasher was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie H. Thrasher; father and mother, Amos Little and Etta Crowe Little; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Mrs. Thrasher is survived by son, Randy Thrasher of Summerville, GA; grandsons and their wives, Tracy and Sonya Thrasher and Stacy and Carrie Thrasher of Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Jordan Thrasher, Dillon Thrasher, Brooklyn Thrasher, Travis Bailey, Chelsey Bailey, and Austin Earwood; brothers, Joe "Sankie" Little of Rome, GA; sisters, Janie Green and Polly Hendrick of Rome, GA. Mrs. Jennie McCollum (M)

Mrs. Jennie Lou Langston McCollum, 82, Gore Community passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.

Mrs. McCollum was born in Chattooga County, GA on December 2, 1928, the daughter of the late James Thomas Langston and Agnes Claudia Housch Langston. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Thomas Housch Langston, James Howard Langston, and Charles Robert Langston.

Mrs. McCollum is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gordon Douglas McCollum; son and daughter-in-law, James Douglas and Anna Lillian McCollum, Augusta, GA; daughter, Judy McCollum Love, Gore, GA; grandsons, Ian Douglas McCollum, Wes Bronson Love, and Aaron James McCollum. Nieces and Nephews also survive. She was retired after 30 years of service from the U. S. Department of Agriculture Soil Conservation Service. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Gore, and attended Howard’s Chapel, Mentone, AL.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, November 19, 2011 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Reynolds and Rev. Ralph Mizner officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Gore community. Active pallbearers will be Ian McCollum, Wes Love, Aaron McCollum, Brandon Gurley, Keith Nicholson, and John C. Groover.

Mr. William Lenzton “Tank” Ludy, JR, age 64, of Summerville, GA died Sunday,November 13, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Ludy was born March 8, 1947 in Summerville, GA, the son of the late William Lenzton Ludy, SR and Mable Ophelia Harris Ludy. He was formerly employed as a machinist with Lester Industries. He loved cooking, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Ludy was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in Vietnam. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Pamela Ludy; and a brother, Ray Claude Ludy.

Mr. Ludy left behind his wife, Helen Wiggins Ludy; daughters, Terra C. Ludy, Charlene, and husband, Ralph Draper, Paula Wiggins, and Ayeisha Stewart; sons, Reginald, and wife, Darlene Ludy, and William Lenzton Ludy, III; sister, Linda, and husband, Timothy Finley; brothers, Rev. Gregory, and wife, Otha Ludy, and Morris Ludy; 12 Grandchildren; and 1 Great Grandchild; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Friday, November 18, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Anita Clouds officiating, with a song and scripture by Rev. Jennifer Mann. Mr. Donald Lee “Donnie” Fletcher obit(M)

Mr. Donald Lee “Donnie” Fletcher died Monday, November 14, 2011 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Fletcher was born November 26, 1959, in Summerville, GA, the son of the late Tom and Joann Hardy Fletcher. He was a life long resident of the Teloga Community. Mr. Fletcher was formerly employed with HCI.

Survivors include a brother, Eugene Fletcher, Denver, CO; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Ann and Joe Myers, Columbus, GA; special nephews, Wes Thompson, Ben Thompson, and Luke Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Ken Bruce officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tim Thompson, Larry Cook, Brian Hardeman, Kelly Young, John Stubbs, and Sammy Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Wes Thompson, Ben Thompson, and Luke Thompson.
