MR. ROY LEE HUNTER, age 62, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday morning in Chickmauga, following an extended illness. A native Chattooga Countian He was born to the late Ed Hunter and Florence Hartline on January 21, 1949. Mr. Hunter was retired from the City of Summerville Water Department after 32 years of service. Preceding Him in death are a sister-the late Martha Hunter, brother-the late Robert Hunter, and step mother-the late Bonnie Hunter.
Surviving are daughter-Kimberlee Lovett of Chickmauga; son-Michael Hunter of Lyerly; sisters-Fran Mount of Pisga, Al., and Virginia Wade of Summerville; brother-Edward Hunter of Subligna; grandchildren-Brandon Hunter, Dillon Hunter, Meaghan Lovett, Lean Lovett, Amber Lovett, Preston Wade, Todd Wade, and Adrian Wade; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Sunday, May 22, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral with Rev. Jerry Rutledge and Larry Brooks officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Brandon Hunter, Dillon Hunter, Billy Tapp, Terry Tapp, Preston Wade, Russ Hunter, Brian Hunter and Brandon Steele. Honorary Pallbearers will be Employees of the City of Summerville. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Mr. Joe Robert Caheely, age 83 of Pine Street, Trion, GA passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medic al Center. Mr. Caheely was born in Alabama on July 12, 1927. He was retired as an Electrician with Mount Vernon Mills and a private electrician service. He was a member and former deacon of Pennville First Baptist Church; a member of the Trion Masonic Lodge # 160, Masonic 50 Year Club, had been a mason for 57 years, and a member of the Quarter Century Club of Mount Vernon Mills.
Mr. Caheely was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ed and Mildred Woodall Caheely; a brother, Rex Caheely; and a niece, Eleanor Ann Sumner.
Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Eleanor Louise Lawson Caheely of Trion, GA; a sister-in-law, Peggy Sumner of Summerville, GA; nieces and nephews, Charlie Sumner, William Sumner, Richard Sumner, Eddie Caheely, and Lois Eskew; honorary grandchildren, Kencade, Code, Margelen, and Raeden Sumner.
A small service will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 1:30 pm at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Caheely and Rev. Howard Payne officiating.
Full Masonic services will be held Friday, May 20, 2011 at 2:00 at the West Hill Cemetery. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Caheely will lie-in-state on Friday, May 20, 2011 where the family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
Pallbearers will be Masons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Cathy Walker, Delsia Hankins, Bowling Friends, Christie Harris and Redmond EMT’s, Tina Caron, Katie Bigham, Melanie Sumner, Brittni Scoggins, and all members of the Pennville First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ann Martin Yancey, age 74 of Summerville, Georgia, passed away Thursday May 12, 2011 at the Floyd Medical Center.
Mrs. Yancey was born in Trion, Georgia on March 19, 1937, daughter of the late Alonzo Martin and Foy Lee Coots Martin. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star, a member and Past President of the Chattooga Shrinettes and a member of the 40 and 8. Mrs. Yancey never met a stranger and looked at all people equally. She was of the Baptist Faith and had traveled extensively and lived in many areas including Bermuda, the Panama Canal Zone, the Isle of Palms and Hilton Head Island. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Yancey was employed with Riegel Textile in the Weave Room and most recently was a door greeter at Wal-Mart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marcellus W. Yancey, Sr. on December 3, 2010.
Mrs. Yancey is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Marcellus W. “Marcey” Yancey, Jr. and his wife Zelma, Cloudland; daughters and sons-in-law, Marsha & Ray Atkins, Rome, Charise & Tim McNeely, Dothan, AL, Tammy & Michael Dempsey, Cave Spring, Dawn & Ken Hefner, Kansas City, and Kelly & Jay Wilson, Summerville; Sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy & Tommy Dooley, Dry Valley and Dale & Allen Cochran, Rome; Brother and sister-in-law, Stanley and Shirley Martin, NC; grandchildren, Natalie Thiele, Daniel Atkins, Caroline Atkins, Tyslon Perdue, Benjamin McNeely, Katharine McNeely, Ryan Dempsey, Halee Dempsey, Matthew Hefner, Megan Ballinger, MacKenzie Hefner, Samual Wilson, Emily Wilson, Shadae Warren, Dana Yancey, Joseph Tucker and Misty Hennon; 6 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Yancey will be held Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home. Interment will be Monday, May 16, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.
Pallbearers will be Sons-in-law and Grandsons. Honorary Pallbearers will be Granddaughters.
Mrs. Yancey will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Mr. Billy Ray Pursley, age 75 of Summerville, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011.
Mr. Pursley was born in Summerville, Georgia on December 30, 1935, son of the late James Paul Pursley and Myrtle Payton Pursley Wilson. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a Veteran of the United States Navy, having served in the Korean War. Mr. Pursley was self employed as a painting contractor and in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by a brother, Charles B. Pursley.
Mr. Pursley is survived by his wife, Edna Jean Pursley of Lafayette, daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Dennis Johnson; brother, Jimmy Pursley; grandchildren, William Matthew Johnson and Hannah Len Johnson; a great grandchild, Raine Harrison and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services for Mr. Pursley will be held Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating.

MRS. ODESSA "Bea" WILSON, age 90, of Summerville, GA, Teloga Community, passed away Tuesday, morning, May 10, 2011. A native of Dekalb County, AL, she was born on April 21, 1921, a daughter of the late Mark A. and Eliza Boozer Lacy. Mrs. Wilson was a Home Maker, member of the Eastern Star, and a Member of Summerville First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Bill” Wilson, on June 17, 2009.
Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law W. A. and Claudia Ann Wilson of Ackworth, GA; and Thomas Harold and Jean McCain Wilson of Roswell, GA. Grandchildren, Nicole Kathleen Wilson, Thomas Andrew Wilson and Jennifer Leigh Wilson Jimenez and spouse Angel. A Brother Dallas Lacy, several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 13 at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Tinson and Ricky Studdard officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home. Mrs. Hazel Hawkins Kerce, age 97, of Lyerly, GA passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Kerce was born January 5, 1914 in Chattooga County, GA, the daughter of the late Julian and Carrie Brooks Hawkins. She was retired from Barwick Mills and she was a member of the Oak Hill Methodist Church. Mrs. Kerce was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Lee Kerce, SR; a sister, Robertine McNair, and and brother, Sye Hawkins.
Survivors include a son, Eddie Kerce, Summerville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Johnny Scoggins; Rome, GA; sister, Elsie Echols Johnson, Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Ray Casey, Christopher Kerce, Amber Campbell, Katie Kerce, and Sarah Elizabeth Kerce; great-grandchildren, Joseph Ellis and Ethan Campbell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 11,2011 at Oak Hill Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Gelespie and Rev. Josh Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Yarbrough, Ronnie Winters, Robert Beach, Joe Reed, Tony Jones, and Bob Hawkins.
Mrs. Kerce will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday. She will also lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 1:30 until the service hour.
