Mrs. Sarah Lavern Smith Obit

 Mrs. Sarah Lavern Smith age 84 of Welcome Hill Road, Trion, GA passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at her residence.  Mrs. Smith was born January 9, 1928 in Fort Payne,  AL.  She was Owner and Operator of Smith’s Grocery at Welcome Hill and was a member of The Church of God Northside.     

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, L. E. "Elmo" Smith; father, Anderson Burt and mother, Emma Sharpe Burt; brothers, Shelton Burt, Winston Burt, and Raymond Burt; sisters, Mildred Hardeman; niece, Sara Elizabeth Burt.     

Survivors are daughter, Marie Watson of Trion, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Carl and Elizabeth Whitt of Douglasville, GA; granddaughters and husband, April and Roger Millican, Cindy Harris,  Lori and Chris Baggett, Andi and Ronnie Sherer, and Sherri and Kurt Long; great-grandchildren, Sarah Millican, Robin Millican, Andrew Baggett, C. J. Baggett, Christopher Sherer, Seth Long, Trevor Long, and Carson Baggett; great-great grandchildren, Caven Millican; sister, Arbadell Posey of Florida; brother, Gerald and Rebecca Burt of Hixson, TN.    

 Graveside services will be conducted Friday, June 3, 2011 at 6:00 PM at the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Dietz officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.      

Mrs. Smith will lie-in-state on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 PM.      

 Pallbearers will be Roger Millican, Bobby, Millican, Chris Baggett, Ronnie Sherer, Rendall Hardeman, and Robin Millican.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack Thomas, John Drennan, Bobby Dover, and Tommy Cordle.  
   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Church of God Northside Building Fund.           Flowers will be accepted.

Mrs. Gussie M. Stansell Obit

MRS. GUSSIE M. STANSELL, age 84, of Trion, Georgia, Teloga Community, passed away Wednesday morning at her residence. Born on March 5, 1927 in Walker County, She was a Daughter of the late N. J. Pettyjohn, Sr. and Julia Jones Pettyjohn. Mrs. Stansell was a member of Shattuck Blvd. Church of Christ and was preceded in death by her husband the late John Wesley Stansell.

Surviving are daughters and husbands-Debbie & Gene Smith and Judy & John Jenkins all of Teloga; son and wife-Randall & Dreama Spears of Dalton; brother-Nichols J. Pettyjohn, Jr. of Teloga; grandchildren-Missy Hogan, Crissy Geiger both of LaFayette and Randy Spears of Menlo; great grandchildren-Tyler Spears, Kaylan Hogan, and Julia Hogan; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (June 4th) at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, interment in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation Saturday from 1 until 3 P.M. at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Sam Bishop Garner Jr. Obit

Mr. Sam Bishop Garner, Jr. age 84 of Morrow, Georgia, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011 at Vitas Hospice Center in Stockbridge, GA.

Mr. Garner was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on March 14, 1927, son of the late Sam B. Garner, Sr. and Grace Bailey Garner. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in World War II and a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in theKorean War. Mr. Garner was a member of the Morrow First United Methodist Church, and prior to retirement, was employed with the State of Georgia where he worked for the Georgia Building Authority.

Mr. Garner is survived by his wife, Emmadeane Brison Garner; daughters and son-in-law, Julia Charlene Bruce; and Angela and Curtis Seelhammer; grandchildren, Anna Seelhammer and Noah Seelhammer; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Joyce Garner and three sisters and brother-in-law, Lena Mae Scoggins, Delores and Raymond Hayes and Patricia Garner.

Graveside and interment services for Mr. Garner will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the New Hope South Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Roach and Dr. Rev. Ed Judy officiating.

Pallbearers will be Bo Brison, Alex Brison, Philip Clack, Brian Scoggins, Buddy Young and Richard White.

Mr. Garner will be in state at the New Hope South Baptist Church and the family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Mr. David Lamar Schrader, age 56, of Menlo, GA died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Schrader was born October 26, 1954 in Chattooga County, GA, the son of the late George W. Schrader and Minnie F. Creasman Schrader. Other than his parents, Mr. Schrader was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Carol Schrader.

Survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Mary Schrader, Mark & Teresa Schrader, Terrell and Linda Schrader; and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home with Chaplin Alan Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in New Home Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tim Schrader, Rusty Gill, Zachary Gill, Joe Schrader, Mark Schrader, and Dakoda Willingham.

Mr. John Raymond "Cowboy" Hughes, age 51, of Summerville, GA died Monday, May 30,
2011 at his residence.
Mr. Hughes was born January 14, 1960 in Conyers, GA, the son of Betty Jo Hughes and the
late Cecil Alvin Hughes. He was a truck driver. Mr. Hughes was a veteran of the United
States National Guard. Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his wife,
Laura Hughes.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Josh and Stephanie Hughes and Jason and Mica
Hughes; mother, Betty Hughes; sisters, Carolyn Owens and Sharon Reed; brothers, Cecil
Robert Hughes and Rondall A. Hughes; grandchildren, Mikason Hughes, Samuel Hughes,
Noah Hughes, and Paitlyn Hughes; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Thursday, June 2, 2011 at

Mrs. Roberta Louise Wagoner, age 68, of Trion, GA died Monday, May 30, 2011 at the
Specialty Hospital at Floyd.
Mrs. Wagoner was born April 18, 1943 in Camp Rucker, AL, the daughter of the late Vernon
and Arthena Spencer Bishop. She had worked as an electronics technician with Harris Corporation.
Other than her parents, Mrs. Wagoner was preceded in death by two sisters, Barbara Bishop
and Linda Torres.
Survivors include her husband, Morris Wagoner, daughter, Cynthia Hubbard, Trion, GA; sons, Alan
Miller, Moorehead City, NC and Mike Miller, Houston, TX; sister, Betty Jo Bishop, Tampa, FL;
grandchildren, Keith Miller, Nina Miller, Blake Miller, Cole Miller, Jessica Hubbard; great
grandson, Noah Miller.

Mr. Clarence Walter “Sonny” Caldwell Obit

Mr. Clarence Walter " Sonny" Caldwell, age 74, of Menlo, GA died Sunday, May 29, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Caldwell was born December 31, 1936 in Lyerly, GA, the son of the late Clarence Carlece and Annie Lou Roberts Caldwell. He was retired from Paulding County Government. Mr. Caldwell has written many songs and poems. He loved painting pictures and he sung with the Gospel Merits for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred Burrage Caldwell; daughter, Phyllis Carol Caldwell Bond; grandson, Jason Anthony Bond, Sr; great grandson, Jason Anthony Bond, JR.; and 2 step-great grandchildren, Terrell Stokes and Tymeria Bond.

Mrs. Mary Frances Cavin

Miss Mary Frances Cavin, age 84, of Gaylesville, Alabama, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A native of Gaylesville, Alabama, Ms. Cavin was born September 21, 1926, daughter of the late Charlie Alvin Cavin and Minnie Pearl Willingham Cavin. She was a member of the Chesterfield Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 60 years, and prior to retirement, was employed with Best Manufacturing as an Inspector. Ms. Cavin was also a member of the Best Silver Club, sold Avon products, loved to teach Sunday School and enjoyed being around children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Dovie Boyd, Faye Langston, Minnie Cavin, Ruby Deering, Betty Jean Mountain and Helen Cavin.

Ms. Cavin is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Joe Wheeler and Evaughn Cavin of Gaylesville; “God Children”, Robin Calvert and Stormy Deering; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services for Ms. Cavin will be held Monday, May 30, 2011 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Ledford and Rev. Robert Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the AMI Cemetery.

Mr.Orvilee Robert “Doc” White

MR. ORVILLE ROBERT “DOC” WHITE, age 74, of White Oak Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at his residence. Born in Chattooga County,Ga., Berryton Community on January 13, 1937, he was a son of the late Robert Lee and Dovie Mae Tuggle White. Mr. White was a Self Employed Contractor and attended Summerville Church of God.

Survivors include his wife, Imogene Cochran White, of Summerville. Two daughters: Robbie Baker Dooley of Summerville and Becky White Humphrey of Hixon, TN. One son, Orville Robert White, Jr. of Rome. A brother, Daniel L. White of Fort Oglethorpe, GA and Special Buddy “Shorty”. Six Grandchildren, Nine Great-Grandchildren, one Great Great Granddaughter, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Chasteen, Pastor Danny Harkins and Pastor Charles Izell officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Orville Robert White, Jr., Jamie Mitchell, Nicholas Dooley, Stanley McGraw, Trey Foster, Jason Baker and Aaron Dooley.
