MRS. ODESSA "Bea" WILSON, age 90, of Summerville, GA, Teloga Community, passed away Tuesday, morning, May 10, 2011. A native of Dekalb County, AL, she was born on April 21, 1921, a daughter of the late Mark A. and Eliza Boozer Lacy. Mrs. Wilson was a Home Maker, member of the Eastern Star, and a Member of Summerville First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. “Bill” Wilson, on June 17, 2009.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law W. A. and Claudia Ann Wilson of Ackworth, GA; and Thomas Harold and Jean McCain Wilson of Roswell, GA. Grandchildren, Nicole Kathleen Wilson, Thomas Andrew Wilson and Jennifer Leigh Wilson Jimenez and spouse Angel. A Brother Dallas Lacy, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 13 at 1:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Tinson and Ricky Studdard officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the Summerville First United Methodist Church or The Alzheimer’s Association.

Mrs. Hazel Katherine Kerce Obit

Mrs. Hazel Hawkins Kerce, age 97, of Lyerly, GA passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Kerce was born January 5, 1914 in Chattooga County, GA, the daughter of the late Julian and Carrie Brooks Hawkins. She was retired from Barwick Mills and she was a member of the Oak Hill Methodist Church. Mrs. Kerce was preceded in death by her husband, Edmond Lee Kerce, SR; a sister, Robertine McNair, and and brother, Sye Hawkins.

Survivors include a son, Eddie Kerce, Summerville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Johnny Scoggins; Rome, GA; sister, Elsie Echols Johnson, Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Ray Casey, Christopher Kerce, Amber Campbell, Katie Kerce, and Sarah Elizabeth Kerce; great-grandchildren, Joseph Ellis and Ethan Campbell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 11,2011 at Oak Hill Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Gelespie and Rev. Josh Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dewayne Yarbrough, Ronnie Winters, Robert Beach, Joe Reed, Tony Jones, and Bob Hawkins.

Mrs. Kerce will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday. She will also lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 1:30 until the service hour.

Mrs. Jimmie Josephine Burrage Obit

Mrs. Jimmie Josephine " Josie" Burrage, age 45, of Menlo, GA died Saturday, May 7, 2011 from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Mrs. Burrage was born January 1, 1966 in LaFayette, GA, the dauther of Patricia Smith Langston and the late Allen Langston. She was a homemaker. Mrs Burrage was preceded in death by a sister, Cindy Tishaw.

Survivors include her mother, Patricia Langston; special friend, Mark Toles; daughter, Feisha Freeman; brother and sister-in-law, Scotty and Misty Langston; sisters and brothers-in-law, April and Stephen Fowler, Margie & Don Dabney; grandchildren, Skyler Chase Freeman, Bradly Freeman, and Braden Freeman.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 11,2011 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow in Ami Cemetery.

Ms. Alyssa Ann Freeman Obit

Miss Alyssa Ann Freeman, age 6, of Trion, GA died Saturday, May 7, 2011 from injuries recieved in an automobile accident.

Miss Freeman was born August 19, 2004 in Rome, GA. She was a student at Dorsette Shoals Elementary School. Miss Freeman was preceded in death by her grandmother, Josephine Burrage; and great grandparents, Jerry Berry and Allen Langston.

Survivors include her parents, Darrell Ray Freeman and Feisha Ann Burrage Freeman; brothers, Skyler Chase Freeman, Bradly Freeman, and Braden Freeman; grandparents, Ronald and Deborah Bowman, Michael & Johna Burrage, and Mark Toles; great-grandmother, Patricia Langston.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p. m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Dempsey officiating. Burial will follow in Ami Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doug Holtton, Charlie Queen, Levy Pettler, and Jason Hammett.

Mrs. Vikki Lynn Wooten Obit

Mrs. Vikki Lynn Wooten, age 59, of Cloudland, GA, passed away Saturday May 7, 2011, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mrs. Wooten was born June 13, 1951, in Lafayette, GA, the daughter of the late Darbin and Margie McGill Brown. She was formerly employed with Stansell Furniture Store.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Wooten, children, Charles Dustin Wooten, Heather Nicole Wooten, grandchildren, Charles Preston Wooten, Bluesy Caroline Harrell, mother-in-law, Flossie Wooten. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday May 10, 2011, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Russell and Rev. Charles Trotter officiating with interment in the Greenhills Memory Garden. Active pallbearers, Brian Precise, Larry Stansell, Larry Brock, Sammy Hamby, Michael Harrell, Steve Baker, Zeke Baker. Mr. Donald Lester Wigley

Mr. Donald Lester Wigley, age 81, of Trion, GA died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at his residence.

Mr. Wigley was born December 21, 1929 in Lindale, GA, the son of the late Dallas Cornelius and Mary Ruth Childers Wigley. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, and was a decorated Korean War Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Wigley; children, Jason Wigley, Madonna Wigley, Denise Wright, and Darlene Johnson; sister, Earlene Robinson; brother, Benny Wigley; 8 Grandchildren; and 5 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 8, 2011 in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Wright officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chester Hunt, Phillip Wright, Isacc Wright, and Tony Johnson.

Mr. Wigley will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.

Mr. Bobby Dobbs Hendrix

Mr. Bobby Dobbs Hendrix, age 79 of Calhoun, died Thursday, May 5, 2011 at Calhoun Health Care following several years of declining health.

He was a veteran, serving his country in the US Air Force, and had been employed by General Electric Corporation for 21 years. Mr. Hendrix was a member of the Northwood Baptist Church in Shannon.

Survivors include his wife, Irene Garland Hendrix; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jerry Barnes of Rome; a step-daughter, Linda Sue Yocum and her husband Larry of Cedar Hill, TN; a brother and sister-in-law, James and Peggy Hendrix of Marietta, GA; and two sisters, Lee Owen and Evelyn Jones, both of Summerville. Two grandchildren, Samantha Barnes and Ashley Barnes, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Bobby Dobbs Hendrix will be held Saturday, May 7th at 11:00am from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Marvin Jackson and Rev. Charlie Carney officiating. Music will be arranged by Doug Randolph. Interment will follow in the Oak Knoll Memorial Garden Cemetery in Rome.

The family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home Friday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm.

MRS. EVA CAROL McFALLS COLLINS, age 74, of Collins-Youngblood Road-Armuchee, Georgia, Little Sand Mt. Community, passed away Wednesday at Her residence. She was born in Cohutta, Georgia on March 21, 1937, a daughter of the late San and Margaret Hunsucker McFalls. Mrs. Collins was Valedictorian of NW Whitfield High School Class of 1955, received her B.S. degree in Home Economics from Berry College in 1959, while at Berry was art editor of Cabin Log and Editor of Mt. Carrier. She was Gilmer Co. Extension Agent, Georgia Power home economist returning to Berry and receiving her double Masters Degrees in Education and Reading. Afterward She taught school in Hall Co., Gordon Co., and Lyerly Elementary in Chattooga Co. She was married September 15, 1963 to Ben F. Collins, who preceded her in death on August 31, 1996.

Surviving are daughters & spouses-Carol C. & Jim Bradfield of LaGrange and Allora C. & Robert Linderman of Rome; sons & spouses-Franklin S. & Kim Collins of Huntsville, AL. and Daniel K. & Jennifer Collins of Houlton, ME.; grandchildren- Joshua Bradfield, Emalee Collins, Eston Collins, Collin San Linderman, and Jared Cook; sister-Wilda M. Leatherwood of Cohutta.

Mr. Hugh G. Murdock Obit

MR. HUGH G. MURDOCK, age 80, of Armuchee, Georgia, Little Sand Mt. Community, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2011, in a Rome hospital following a sudden attack. Born in Chattooga County Georgia on March 23, 1931 He was a son of the late Gordon William and Rose Lee Rosser Murdock. Mr. Murdock was retired from Berry College Maintenance Department and was a Deacon of South Summerville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, the late Rev. Billy Murdock.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Violet King Murdock, Two sons and daughters-in-law Don and Anita Murdock of Armuchee; Wayne and Angie Murdock of Pooler, GA; Sister and brother-in-law Kay and Byron Yarbrough of Summerville; Sister-in-law Cindy Murdock; Three grandchildren: Melanie (Jason)Lackey, Holly Murdock and Randy Murdock. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 6, at 2:00 p.m. from the South Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. David Craven and Rev. Richard Dendler officiating, interment in Little Sand Mt. Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Jason Taylor, Randy Murdock, Lavon King, Jason Lackey, Joey Hutto and Myles Phillips.
