Mrs. Mattie Annette "Susie" Ray, age 46, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, April 24, 2011 at
Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Ray was born June 22, 1964 in Trion, GA, the daughter of Betty Hill Sims and the late J. M
Sims. She had worked at Shepard Hills Nursing Home. Other than her father, Mrs. Ray
was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Clarence Ray.
Survivors include her san and daughter-in-aw, Jimmy and Amy Ray; daughters and sons-in-law,
Candi and Matt Hughes, Brandi and Andrew Sherbet, and Laci Ray and Greg Hester;
mother, Betty Sims; sisters, Charlotte Carroll and Kim Chavez; brothers, Ricky Sims and
Randy Sims; grandchildren, Mark Godfrey, Shelly Ray, Abbi Teems, Bradin Teems, Alli Teems,
Dallas Ray, and Gauge Gilliam.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home
with Rev. Max Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will

Henrietta H. Owenby, 92, of Acworth died Tuesday April 26, 2011. Funeral Services will be Wednesday  at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Collins Funeral Home in Acworth with Dr. Bradley Brown officiating. Mrs. Joyce Elaine Floyd, age 63, of Summerville, GA died Monday April 25, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Floyd was born March 19, 1948 in Summerville, GA, the daughther of Erbie Lee Bryant and the late Gertis Lee Hunter Bryant. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lyerly Pentecostal Tabernacle. Other than her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Paralee Hogue; and brothers, Billy Ray Bryant and Charles Bryant.

Survivors include her husband, Danny Ray Floyd; children, Daniel Smith Floyd and Kimberly Lynn Peterson; father, Erbie Lee Bryant; sister, Linda Gail Garrett; brother, Jerry Dale Bryant; grandchildren, Brycen Peterson and Brianna Gilreath.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Denny  and Rev. Glen Studdard officiating. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Mr. Robert Lewis “Bob” McCrickard Obit

Mr. Robert Lewis (Bob) McCrickard, age 75, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday April 21, 2011 in Floyd Medical Center. Mr. McCrickard was born June 22, 1935, in Lyerly, GA, the son of John William and Lena Bell Copeland McCrickard. He was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church and retired from Mohawk Ind.

Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law, Barry & Debbie McCrickard, grandchildren, Brittney & Miles Bagley, Allen & LeAnn McCrickard, Kim Renfroe, sister & brother-in-law, Mary & Nic Stoner, brothers & sisters-in-law, Jack & Barbara McCrickard, Frank & Peggy McCrickard, Buddy & Amelia McCrickard, Gary McCrickard, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday April 24, 2011 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Howard Odom, and Rev. Mike Odom officiating with interment in the Johnson Cemetery. Mr. Doyle Lawrence Dover, age 76, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Dover was born October 2, 1934 in Menlo, GA, the son of the late Perry Lawrence and Fannie Evelyn Covington Dover. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. Mr. Dover was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Juanita Ramey Dover; daughter, Pamela Ruth Pas; grandchildren, Jamey Rogers and Tiffany Rogers.

Survivors include his children, Larry and Lisa Dover, Brion and Keri Dover, Cheryl and Wayne Sneed, Teresa and Corky Lee, Patty and Jimmy Evans; sisters, Sara Young and Audrey Womack; brothers, Paul Dover, Jerry Dover, and Richard Dover; 13 Grandchildren; and 26 Great-Grandchildren.

Mr. Sidney Dale Martin, age 62, of Trion, GA died Wednesday, April 20. 2011 at Hutcheson
Medical Center.
Mr. Martin was born September 17, 1948 in Trion, GA, the son of the late Ted Harvey and
Bennie Faye Hurley Martin. He was formerly employed with Walter Jackson Chevrolet. Mr.
Martin was a 1966 graduate of LaFayette High School. He was a member of the
Yarrab Temple and the Trion Masonic Lodge #160 F & AM.
Survivors include, Wylene Turner: son and daughter-in-law, Tracey and Terrie Martin;
sisters, Janet Logan and Sherrye Richardson; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Martin, Madison Martin,
Lauren Martin, and Mary Grace Martin.

Mr. Bryson Daniel “Dan” Tapp Obit

Mr. Bryson Daniel "Dan" Tapp, age 84, of Trion, GA passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Tapp was born April 12, 1927 in Chickamauga, GA, the son of the late Bob and Mae Tapp. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in WWII. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Hoyle, Lorne, Bill, and Robert Tapp; sisters, Jimmie Plaster and Johnnie Putnam; and a son, Danny Tapp.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Louise Tapp, sons, Sammy and his wife Judy Tapp, Lamar Tapp, and Barry Tapp; grandchildren, Danielle, Abby, and Alex Tapp; sister, Rebecca Cofer; brother, Jack Tapp; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Cornelia “Neal” Smith Obit

MRS. CORNELIA “NEAL” SMITH, age 83, of Summerville, formerly of Aragon, Georgia went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, April 17, 2011. She was born on January 1, 1928 in Rome, Georgia, the wife of the late Pastor Roy H. Smith.

Mrs. Smith was a dedicated Christian, devoted Pastor’s wife, singer, musician, soul winner and Bible teacher. She was married to Bro. Roy H. Smith for 61 years. She and Bro. Roy ministered for over 60 years at many different churches, nursing homes, jails, and through the Upward Look Radio Ministry. She was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly.

Mrs. Smith is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Roy H. Smith; two brothers, Leonard Bradfield and Wicker Bradfield; a sister, Beatrice Marks; and a grandson, Chris Blansit.

She is survived by one daughter, Sylvia Grimes and husband, Allen, of Aragon; four sons, Samuel Smith and wife Joyce, of Piedmont, AL., David Smith & wife Loretta, of Rome, Pastor Joel Smith & wife Karen, of Cedartown, and Timothy Smith & wife Martha Ann, of Trion; a sister, Joyce Freeman, of Rome; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

The home going celebration for Sister Neal will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at two o’clock in the afternoon at Rome Baptist Temple with Pastor Billy Goolesby, Pastor Joel A. Smith, and Bro. Allen Grimes officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. at the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, Summerville, Georgia. Mrs. Smith will also lie in state Wednesday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at the Rome Baptist Temple. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Zula Bridges Baggett Obit

Mrs. Zula Bridges Baggett, age 89, of Summerville, formerly of Rome, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2011, at a local hospital.

            Mrs. Baggett was born in the Little Sand Mountain Community of Chattooga, County on December 14, 1921, daughter of the late James Levi Bridges and the late Martha Viola Hawkins Bridges.  She was a 1939 graduate of Trion High School.  She worked for a number of years at Krystal in Rome.  She was a member of the Sherwood Forrest Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 56 years, Dallas Lee “Dall” Baggett, to whom she was married on May 13, 1953.

            She is survived by a host of relatives.

            Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2011, at 10am from the graveside at the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.  The Rev. Dr. Talmadge Barnes will officiate.
