Mrs. Mildred Hazel Dalrymple, age 88, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Dalrymple was born February 15, 1922 in Jackson County, AL, the daughter of the late Geneva W. and Louise Mize Sparks. She was a homemaker and member of the New Antioch Baptist Church. Mrs. Darlymple was preceded in death by her first husband: William Wilfrey Green; second husband: Thurman Eugene Dalrymple, Sr; son: Teddy Green; great granddaughter: Brianna Dlarymple.

Survivors include three sons: Jimmy Charles Green, Summerville, GA, Eugene Dalrymple, Dayton, OH, and Randy Dalrymple, SR, Summerville, GA; 13 Grandchildren; 25 Great Grandchildren; 8 Great Great Grandchildren; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Pledger and Rev. Bobby Walston officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Chase Purley, Jamie Boyd, Zack Boyd, Josh Allmond, Sam Allmond, and Drew Jackson.

Mrs. Dalrymple will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Friday, August 20, 2010

Reece Obit

Mr. Timothy Max Reece, age 54, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Reece was born May 24, 1956 in Trion, GA, the son of Mary White Reece and the late Billy M. Reece. He was a dentention officer with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office, a poultry farmer, and a member of the Subligna Baptist Church. Other than his father, Mr. Reece was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee & Jamie White and Houston and Allie Reece.

Survivors include his wife: Kathy Reece; sons and daughter-in-law: Jimmy and Lindsay Reece, Jeremy Reece; mother: Mary W. Reece; mother-in-law: Jeanette McGraw; father-in-law: Jimmy McGraw; granddaughter: Emma Reece; sister: Renee and David McWilliams; brother: Danny Reece; sister-in-law: Susan Barnes; brother-in-law and wife: Chris and Wendy McGraw; several Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Great Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Franks and Rev. Charles Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Subligna Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Richard Caldwell, B. J. Montgomery, Ray Casey, Eric Glenn, Paul Busby, and William Whitlock. Honnorary pallbearers will be Friends and Neighbors of the Subligna Community, Employee’s of the Chattooga County Sheriffs Office, and former Reichhold Employees.

Carl Scott Pauley obit

Mr. Carl Scott Pauley, age 43, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Mr. Pauley was born February 14, 1967 in South Charleston, West Virginia, the son of Jackie Lee Pauley and Carolyn Lee Miller Duvio. He was a member of the Alpine Community Church. He was an RN in the critical care unit of North Fulton Hospital. He was the owner of Triangle Gym. Mr. Pauley was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Desert Storm.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Denise Pauley; children, Auston Pauley, Ashton Pauley, Kriston Pauley, Carlee Pauley, and Rylee Pauley; father & step-mother, Jackie Lee & Carol Pauley; mother & step-father, Carolyn & Armand Duvio; sisters, Dena Nuessly, Johanna Clark, and Maria Dussel; brothers; Randy Pauley, Todd Duvio, Armand Duvio, JR, and Jody Duvio.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, August 20, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating.

Mr. Pauley will lie in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Thursday, August 19, 2010. Mr. Pauley will be cremated. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Red Cross or the Alpine Community Church.

Mr. Jackie “Bobo” Williams

Mr. Jackie Lee "Bobo" Williams, age 50 of Toledo, Ohio and formerly of Summerville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in Toledo, Ohio.  Hew was preceded in death byhis father, Mr. C.B. Lawrence, sister, Ms. Sheila S. Williams.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Etta Mae Williams of Armuchee, Georgia.  Three sons: LaBorris Williams, Jerrick Williams, stepson – Jai Dowdy of Rome, Georgia.  Sisters: Ms. Mary Frances Faremr, Ms. Carolyn Williams of Summerville, Georgia, Ms. Hattie Williams of Armuchee and a brother Mr. James Williams of Toledo, Ohio; three grandchildren of Rome; a special friend, Ms. Elizabeth Gibbs of Toledo, Ohio; one aunt, one uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 2 PM at Bethlehem Temple Holiness Church, Nixon Avenue, Rome, Georgia with Pastor Louise McCluskey, Pastor Bobby Brazile and other ministers officiating.  HIs remains will lie in state at the church one hour before the service.

Maggie S Mitchell obit

Mrs. Maggie S. Mitchell, age 94, of Railroad Circle, Summerville, GA passed away Monday morning (August 16, 2010) at her residence. Mrs. Mitchell was born in Randolph County, Georgia, on May 22, 1916. a daughter of the late Olcie and Mellie Smith.  Mrs. Mitchell was Homemaker, Baptist by faith, and was preceded in death by her husband,the late Harve Mitchell, daughter- Barbara Baldwin, and sons,J.W. Mitchell, Joe Mitchell, Gene Mitchell, Junior Harvey Mitchell. 

Surviving are two daughters: Linda York of Summerville, and Shirley Austin of Subligna.  sister, Louise Spears of LaGrange, GA.; eighteen Grandchildren, serveral Great Crandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thurdsay, August 19th,at 4:00pm from the JD Hill Memorial Chapel of the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Russell and Chaplin Dewight Wilson officating, interment in Pennville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Joey Mitchell, Dennis Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, Jimmy Mitchell, Keith Roulane, Clint Baldwin, Kevin Austin, and Scott Austin.  Honorary Pallbearers Andy Wade, Jed Teems, Chris Crump, Lance Henderson, Heyman Hospice, Sonya Hall, Ray Mitchell, and Great Grandchildren.  The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 til 8pm at the Funeral Home.

Herbert Earcell Whittle obit

Mr. Herbert Earcell Whittle, age 81, of Cloudland, GA died Monday, August 16, 2010 at his residence.

Mr. Whittle was born January 19, 1929 in Columbia, SC, the son of the late Prevost William and Mildred Konemann Whittle. He was a Korean War Veteran, retired from the United States Army. Mr. Whittle was an avid fisherman and gardner. He was also a member of the FFA.

Survivors include a sister, Mildred Martin; brothers, Shelton Whittle, Paul Whittle, and Carroll Whittle; and several Nieces and Nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Mason Funeral Home for a remembrance service.

Mr. Whittle will be cremated.

Mr. Robert Ward, Jr.

Mr. Robert Warren Ward, Jr, age 63, of Menlo, GA, passed away Sunday August 15, 2010 at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Ward was born December 11, 1946, in Summerville, GA, the son of the late Robert W. and Lela Kiker Ward, Sr. He was an electrical contractor and preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Hardy. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ann Wilson Ward, children, Lynn Pickard, Keitha Vaughn, Bobbie Smith, Kevin White, brothers, David Ward, Jimmy Ward, sisters, Brenda Akery, Frances Akery, 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

There will be no Service, Mr. Ward was cremated at his request. The family will receive friends at the residence Monday August 16, 2010 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. 190 Peach Orchard Road, Menlo, GA.

 

Mr. Roy Collins Obit

Mr. Roy James Collins, age 63, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday August 13, 2010, in Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Collins was born May 6, 1947, in Trion, GA, the son of the late Marvin T. and Nellie Mitchell Collins. Mr. Collins was employed with Church Chair, and preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Sue Collins. Survivors include his wife to whom he was married 41 years, Elizabeth Brown Collins, Children, Bradley Collins, Michael Collins, Stacy Cothran, Tammy Thrasher, Star Bragg, Sister, Elaine Collins, Brothers, Ray Collins, Lamar Collins, 13 Grandchildren, 7 Great-grand children.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday August 16, 2010 from the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Sanford Deberry officiating with interment in the Summerville Cemetery. Ms. Nellie Carter Obit

MRS. NELLIE CARTER of Orchard Hill Road-Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday (August 11, 2010) afternoon at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Carter was born in Chattooga County on December 12, 1920, a daughter of the late Josh Lee and Mary Lou Busby Bennett, a retired textile worker with Best Mfg. Co., and was a member of South Commerce Church of Christ.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband the late Simon David Carter; two daughters- Caroline Carter and Linda Williamson; granddaughter, Heather Carter; great granddaughters, Brianna Carter and Mariah Carter; sister, Olene Bennett; brothers, Oscar Bennett and Buddy Bennett. To her children and all Family, she was the most loving and caring mother in all the world. We are so fortunate to have such a wonderful mother who was always there for us. She gave of herself not only to family, but to anyone she could be a help to. We thank God for letting her stay here almost 90 years and then taking her to her mansion in heaven.

Surviving are daughters: Ilene Sweet of Augusta, GA; Carol Sue Stiefel of Summerville; Debbie Carter and Mary Duke both of Rome; sons: David Henry Carter of Lavonia, GA; Willard Carter of Collinsville, AL; Jerry Johnston Carter and Paul Lee Carter both of Summerville; brother: Gene Bennett of Rome. Twenty One Grandchildren, Twenty Eight Great Grandchildren, Sixteen Great Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (August 14) at 2:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Chaplin Neal Smith officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Casey Christol, Jerry L. Carter, Jeff Carter, Chris Carter, Steve Duke and Taylor Duke. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 till 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
