Mr. Rodney Darnell Carpenter, age 58, of Trion, GA, died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Carpenter was born April 1, 1950 in Trion, GA, the son of Martha Wilson Carpenter and the late William D. Carpenter. He attended the Spring Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Carpenter was formerly employed with Shaw Industries and was a veteran of the United States Army.

Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Kristi & Thomas Stevens, Kingston, GA, and Kasey and Christopher Cox, Cartersville, GA; mother, Martha Carpenter, Trion, GA; Rebecca Carpenter; brother and sister-in-law, William Gregory & Faye Carpenter, Menlo, GA; sister and brother-in-law, Joan & Willie Blackmon, Summerville, GA; grandchildren, Thomas Stevens, Cayley Cox, Noah Stevens, Braden Cox, Nathan Stevens, Addison Cox, and Hannah Stevens; and several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Hyatt and Rev. Derek Hall officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Thomas Stevens, Christopher Cox, Jason Blackmon, Tony Patterson, Britt Carpenter, Zack Carpenter. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Blackmon, Ronnie Patterson, and Olin Woody.

Mr. Carpenter will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday.

Hawkins; and sister, Mamie Arnold.  Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law, Don & Linda Glass, Summerville,  GA.; grandchildren, Casey Glass and Michelle Stephens; great-grandchildren, Jessica Stephens and Juli eanne Stephens. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a. m. Walraven Obit

Mr. Anthony, Steve (Butterball) Walraven age 56 of Calhoun passed away Thursday morning August 7th at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome following a brief illness.

Steve was born on May 28, 1952 in Gordon County, Georgia son of the late Grady Walraven and Lucille Sitton Walraven.  He served his country with the U.S. Army.  At the time of his death he was employed by Walmart Store at Acworth Georgia as a department manager.

Steve is survived by his wife, Deborah Jean Balliew Walraven to whome he was married for 34 years.  One daughter; Stephanie Lathem and her husband, Robbie of Clahoun, Georiga.  Two brothers; Grady Walraven, Jr. and his wife Nina Mae of Lindale, Georgia and Tim Walraven of Calhoun, Georgia.  Nephew- Brian Walraven, four grandchildren Brody, Lorin, Briana and Libby Lathem.

Funeral services for Mr. Anthony Steve (Butterball) Walraven will be conducted Saturday at 11 AM at the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Reve. Eddie Brannon officiating.  Active pallbearers serving will include; Keith Thomas, Bill Dillard, Jonny Dean, Jimmy Dean, Jerry Dean and Jimmy Godfrey.  These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Saturday morninga t 10:15 AM. Internment will follow the service at Chandler Cemetery.  The family will receive friedns at Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home Friday evening during the hours of 6 until 9 PM.

Bennett Obit

Mr. Grady A. Bennett, age 67, of Ocala, Florida formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia passed away Tuesday (August 5, 2008) in Ocala, Florida.  He was born in Lithonia, Georgia on September 13, 1940 to the late Otis Richard and Eula Flippo Bennett.  He was a member of the Bellview Assembly of God in Bellview, FL. and owner/operator of Bennett Music Company in Ocala, FL for several years.

Surving are wife – Jimmie Ann Young Bennett; daughters – Melody Hall and Karen Jensen of Texas; sons – Mark Bennett of Chatsworth and John Paul Bennett of Arkansas; mother-in-law Ann Young of Summerville; sisters – Drucilla Ragland of Rome, Eula Belle Scoggins of Summerville; brother – James Robert (Bob) Bennett of Rome; sisters-in-law – Peggy Green of Cloudland, Pat Money Donna Whitmire both of Summerville, Peggy Bennett of Rome, Ann Bennett of Summerville; brothers-in-law – Donnie Scoggins & Randy Money of Summerville, Dewey Ragland of Rome, and Donald Green of Cloudland; Six Grandchildren, special niece Alania Carpetner & great-niece Emma Leann Carptenter, several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews survive.

Family graveside service will be held Saturday August 9th at 12 noon in West Hill Cemetery with Bro. Tom Russell and Bro. Jimmy Chastian offiiciating.  Active Pallbearers: Mike Bennett, Skipper Bennett, Lynn Bennett, Kevin Scoggins, Gary Bennett, Oris Bennett, Don Bennett and John Riley.  Visitation will be Friday from 6 until 8 PM at the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Mr. William Franklin Bradley, age 63 of Summerville passed away Tuesday, August 5th at his residence.  Mr. Bradley was born on February 26, 1945 in Walker County and was employed by Hays Correctional Institute and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Bradley was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Thomas and Luttie Bell Wooten Bradley, Brothers, James,Edward, and Hugh Bradley, Sister Dorothy Durham, Granddaughter, bree Phillips, grandson Brad Phillips and a grandaughter, Blake Money… He is surrvived by his wife Kathy Bradley of Summerville, son Chris Whisenant of Montgomery, AL., Daughters Melanie Searcy of Cartersville, and Julie Snider of Summerville a grandson Will Whisenant of Statham, granddaughters, Kinsey Money , Beth Dodd , Gail Dodd of Summerville, Grandson Matthew Snider of Dalton, Granddaughters Brooke  and Kariah Snider of Summerville. brothers Lebron Bradley of Flintstone, and LeRoy Bradley of Chickamauga, Sisters Pauline Hixon and Mamie Hartline of Trion and Brenda Kimbro Chattanooga, Tn , Several nieces and nephews also survived… Funeral Services will be ConductedThursday August 7 at 2 PM from the funeral chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Decker officiating.  Interment will be in the Summerville Cemetery.

Mr. Bradley will lie in state Wednesda at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Hoome wher the family will receive frineds form 6 to 9 PM

Pallbearers will be Ealr Watkins, Ragen Black, Tim Clark, Donald Dixion, Clay Borman and Tim Hatcher.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of Clavary Baptist Church friends and neighbors of Hinton and Taylor Streets, Employees of Hays Correctional Institute and Dr. Doug Caron.
