MRS. DEBORAH LYNN CARROLL, age 70, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023. She was born in Summerville, Georgia on March 8, 1952, daughter of Wallace Busby and Evelyn Carpenter Busby. Mrs. Carroll was employed by Mohawk Industries in the Extrusion Department and was Baptist by faith.

Surviving are her husband, James Carroll; Daughter, Alicia (Reuben) Brock; Sons, Jason (Angie) Carroll and Clay (Mamie) Carroll; Bother, Earl Busby; Seven Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 at 2 p.m. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Andy Hutchins officiating, Interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Andrew Bartlett, Takeivious Carroll, Chase Carroll, Adam Ludy, Taylor Carroll, and Reuben Brock. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 8, 2023 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

Charles William Baker, Obit (C)

Mr. Charles William Baker, age 92 of the Pennville Community, Summervile, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023 in a Chattanooga Hospital.

Mr. Baker was born in Summerville, Georgia on August 17, 1930, son of the late Russell Isaac Baker and Grace Helen Reynolds Baker. He was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church and was retired from the Dye House at Riegel/Mt. Vernon Mills. Mr. Baker had also been employed with the Volunteer Army Ammunition Plant in Chattanooga prior to his employment with Riegel. He enjoyed tinkering with lawnmowers and small engines, woodworking and doing handyman work. In addition to his parents, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by a grandson, Marcus Baker and a brother, Isaac R. Baker.

Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Maxine Baker; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Terry Meek and Sherry and Mark Cothran; son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Sandra Baker; grandchildren, Christy and Scott McDade, Casey and Cassie Meek, April and Matt Welch and Marly and Robby Proctor; great grandchildren, Madeline Welch, Abigail Welch, Gracie McDade, Dally Meek, Laney Meek and Bentley Proctor; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Baker will be held Monday, January 9, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Norton and Rev. Jimmy Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will include Casey Meek, Scott McDade, Robby Proctor, Eugene Cordell, Rusty Franklin and Robert Williams. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dot Shankles, Deb Williams and the congregation of the Mountain View Baptist Church.

Mr. Baker will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Mr. Bucky Ray Brown, age 70, of Summerville, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at a Rome hospital.

Bucky was born in Trion, Georgia on May 23, 1952, son of the late Leo Fay Brown and Clara Mae Carpenter Brown. He was retired from Thomasville Railroad and was of the Church of God Faith. Bucky was an avid music lover, liking all genres of music, but as he got older, he started enjoying gospel and country more. He enjoyed playing the guitar, fishing, golfing and piddling with cars. In addition to his parents, Bucky was preceded death by a niece, Regina Fay Prince and a nephew, Kenneth Daniel Prince.

Bucky is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Bryan Ray Brown and Shawn Ray and Meagan Brown; daughter and son-in-law, Crystal Monique and Brandon Torres; children by love, Rachel Rewis and Heather Barrett; brother, Brannon “B.B.” Brown(Lynn Bartlett); sister, Vickie Brown Darnell(Ralph Brock); grandchildren, Layla Brown, Austin Brown, Tyler Torres, Brianna Torres and Madison Brown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Bucky will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Howell and Rev. Jason Lee officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

MRS. KIMBERLY MICHELLE BLACKMON, age 58, of Oak Street- Summerville, Georgia, passed away December 22, 2022, in a Rome hospital following a sudden attack. She was born in Rome, Georgia on December 25, 1963 to the late Helen Marie Ingram Tucker and Frank Joe Evans, who survives. Mrs. Blackmon was a homemaker and member of Harrell Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by husband the late Gregory Scott Blackmon.

Surviving are daughters, Deanna (Josh) Hines and Amber Cothran; sons Stephen Little and Michael Lyons; Father, Frank Joe Evans; sister, Tanja Evans; step siblings, Carl & Mitzi Raymond, Natalie and Gerry Padovano. Cathy Morris, and Sean Tucker; Seventeen Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews.

Dewayne Neal Fulton, Sr., Obit (ER)

DEWAYNE NEAL FULTON,SR., age 69 Trion, Georgia, passed away December 29, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Trion, Georgia on December 7, 1953 son to the late Clyde Fulton and Bertha Croy Fulton. He was a Chemical Operator with Omni Nova Solutions, he served in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by a brother Clem Fulton, adopted parents, Jim and Bessie Allen.

Surviving are daughter, Stephanie Nicole Cromer; sons, Dewayne Neal Fulton, Jr., and Scott Allen Fulton; sister, Cindy Bell; brothers, James Fulton and Tim (Nancy) Allen. Nieces and Nephews also survive.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 11 a.m. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with family members officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home.

LINDA EARL CALDWELL JONES age 77 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2023 in a Rome Hospital. She was born in Summerville, Georgia, February 12, 1945, daughter to the late Charlie and Irene Caldwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the late Melvin Timmons, sisters, the late Pamala Jean Caldwell and Barbara Beatrice Caldwell; brothers, the late Charles Leroy Caldwell and George Dewayne Caldwell, and brothers-in-law, the late Johnny Tapp and Danny Kilgore. Linda was a Homemaker and a member of the Harrell Street Church of God.

Surviving are brothers, Ray (Denane) Caldwell and Jerry Caldwell, Rachael(Danny) Kilgore, Doris (Johnny) Tapp.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, at 1:30 P.M. from the J.D. Hill Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Caldwell and Rev. Leroy Nichols officiating, interment in the Mount Carmel Cemetery. Wilburn Lewis “Buster” Cavin, Obit (M)

Mr. Wilburn Lewis “Buster” Cavin, age 82, of Menlo, GA, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mr. Cavin was born September 10, 1940, in Chesterfield, AL, son of the late Roy and Frances Powell Cavin. He was retired from Best Manufacturing where he worked as a supervisor in the Dipping Department. Mr. Cavin was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church and had most recently attended Menlo First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Best Silver Club and was an avid farmer who loved his cows, goats, and dogs. Mr. Cavin was a wonderful cook and gardener and could make the best “cathead” biscuits you’d ever tasted. He dearly loved his wife, son, and granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cavin was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Cavin and Johnny Cavin; sister, Charlotte (Doyle) Chumbler; brother-in-law, Buddy Barnes; sister-in-law, Farice Cavin.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnne “Dot” Cavin; son, James Wilburn (Robin Brown) Cavin; a sister, Katie Barnes; granddaughter, Ainsley “Spedley” Cavin; special nieces, Dale Hogg Holleman and Kim Bullard; special nephews, Drew Hartline, Jeff Barnes, Tim Hogg, and Jaden Barnes.

Funeral services for Mr. Cavin will be held at 11:00 A.M. (E.S.T.) Friday, January 6, 2023, at Chesterfield Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Willingham and Rev. Ricky Clark officiating. Interment will follow in AMI Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lyn Chumbler, Jeff Barnes, Randy Gilley, Marc Hogg, Tim Hogg, Farrell Anderson, and Theron Finley. Ms. Leisha “Beth” McCary, age 58, of Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Advent Health Redmond.

Ms. McCary was born April 5, 1964, in Rome, GA, daughter of David and Joyce Koonce Bethune. She was a member of Trion Heights Baptist Church and was employed with Harbin Clinic. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother to her grandson, Cooper. She also loved to read.

Survivors include her son, David (Skylar) McCary; daughters, Kelli (Casey) Veatch, Paige (Kyle) Parker; a brother, Jon (Mary) Bethune; sister, Davette (Tony) Smith; and grandson, Cooper McCary.

Graveside and interment services to will be held Friday, January 6, 2023, at West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating. Active pallbearers will be Layne Bethune, Landon Bethune, Joshua Smith, Jacob Smith, Tony Smith, and Dallas Holzer. Honorary pallbearers will be Tammie Thompson and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class.

Ms. McCary will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 1:30 Friday.

Mr. Ronald Gene Spraggins, age 75, of Menlo, GA, died Sunday, January 1, 2023, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mr. Spraggins was born October 18, 1947, in Trion, GA, son of the late Andrew and Imogene Gertrude Johnson Spraggins. He was retired from Mohawk.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joel Dewayne Whittle; brother, William “Butch” Spraggins; and sister, Martha Spraggins.

Survivors include his children, Ronald Lamar Spraggins, Rhonda Michelle Hall, and Becky Eaton; sisters, Andrea Spraggins and Carolyn Spraggins; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 7, 2022, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodney Blalock officiating.

Mrs. Susan Carol Durham, age 66 of Trion, passed away Monday, January 2, 2023 at a Rome Hospital.

Susan was born in Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia on October 2, 1956, daughter of the late Harold C. “Billy” Durham and Sara Jo Spence Durham. She was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church and was retired from Color Spectrum. She enjoyed shopping, working in the yard, dancing and being around water, especially water skiing. In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy Ball; and a brother, Barry Watson.

Susan is survived by her sons, LaDon Roach and Matt Beech; brother and sister-in-law, Sonny and Cheryl Durham; sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and DeWayne Allmond; grandchildren, Randi Wills, Ryan Roach, Reece Roach and Lorianna Beech; great grandchildren, Gatlin Wills, Bane Wills and Paxton Roach; special friends, Eve Johnson and Jean Rollins; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Susan will be held Friday, January 6, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Johnson and Rev. Chris Nixon officiating. Interment will follow in the Lafayette City Cemetery.
