Mrs. Elsie Geneva Reynolds Elrod, Obit (C)

Mrs. Elsie Geneva Reynolds Elrod, age 86 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Elrod was born in Summerville, Georgia on April 7, 1936, daughter of the late Carlton Reynolds and Gladys Stewart Reynolds. She was a member of the Four Mile Baptist Church and was retired from the Card Room at Mt. Vernon Mills. She was a member of the Quarter Century Club, Modern Woodmen for over 29 years, was a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts of America for 6 years and was a 4-H volunteer for 14 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Elrod was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Elrod; sister, Dot Campbell and a grandson, James Elrod.

Mrs. Elrod is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Allen Elrod, Robert and Debbie Elrod and Stewart and Patsy Elrod; brother and sister-in-law, Carlton “Sonny” and Christine Reynolds; grandchildren, Kimberly Elrod and Wesley Elrod; 8 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Elrod will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Joel A. Smith and former pastor, Doyle Kelley officiating. Entombment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Stan Reynolds, Mike Elrod, Ryan Gravley, Dennis Johnson, Tim Wilson, Barry Barosey and Tommy Busbin. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Four Mile Baptist Church, Jim Parker and Malcolm Dodd.

MRS. SUSIE MAE CRAIG EDGEWORTH, age 78, of Susie Lane, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at her residence. A native Chattooga Countian, She was born to the late Dillard and Daisy Hawkins Craig on October 8, 1943. She was a member of Community Holiness Church and was retired from Mohawk Ind. In addition to Parents, She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, the late Rev. Paul L. Edgeworth, daughter, the late Paula Gene Edgeworth, siblings, the late Tommy Craig, Johnny Craig, and Barbara Gene Craig.

Surviving are daughters and spouses, Janice Marmet (Tony Prater), Patricia Corey (Bryon), Debbie Nance (Paul), and Jaycea Edgeworth; grandchildren, John Marmet, Jennifer Marmet, Nicole Corey, Joie Nance, Michael Marmet, Dakota Lively, Jessie Savory, & Kourtney Marmet; great grandchildren, Memphis Marmet, Caleb “Boo” Bentley, Ryan Marmet, William Marmet, & Brody Marmet; brothers, R. Mrs. Geneva Bentley Williams, Obit (C)

Mrs. Geneva Bentley Williams, age 85 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 in a Rome hospital.

Mrs. Williams was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on April 20, 1937, daughter of the late Melvin Bentley and Ophelia Hawthorne Bentley. She was a member of the Four Mile Baptist Church and was retired from the Chattooga County School System, where she worked at the Summerville Middle School as a custodian and a lunchroom attendant. She was a great cook, loved gardening and tending to her flowers, but especially loved spending time with her family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her second husband, Charlie Henry (CH) Hendrix, third husband, RW Williams; sister, Luna Mae Tucker and brothers, Kenneth Bentley, Gene Bentley, Buddy Bentley and Dennis Bentley.

Mrs. Williams is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Stacey Koonce; sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Pam Powell and Lt. Col. Ret. Douglas and Effie Powell; grandchildren, Lindsey and Zach White, Josh Koonce and Rosemary Powell; special friends and neighbors, Elsie Elrod and Peggy Herod; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Williams will be held Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor Joel Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Mr. William Lester Dobson, age 70 of Trion, GA passed away Sunday, September 18, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Dobson was born to the late Felton Dawson and Corrine Craig Hurley. He was a master carpenter and pipefitter forman, and he enjoyed fishing, football, watching television, mechanic work, and spending time with his family.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Frankie Blackmon; and siblings, Don Dobson, Patricia Byers, and Brenda Scott.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Nelson Dobson; children, William Matt Dobson (Venessa), Dustin Blackmon (Chandra), Lisa Barfield (Shane), Whitney Matijiw (Wade Smith), and Patches Wilcox (Brian); sisters, Shirley Carpenter, Wanda Russell, and Carol Callan; 14 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Dobson will be held 3:00 Thursday- September 22 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Barrett officiating.

Mrs. Sandra Lynn Johnson, age 72, of Summerville, GA, died Friday, September 16, 2022, at her residence.

Mrs. Johnson was born October 5, 1949, in Cedar Bluff, AL, daughter of the late Paul Reed and Eloise Smith Moss. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with Mount Vernon Mills.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, James Johnson; a daughter, Camden (Torrey) Robinson; and grandchildren, Hannah Robinson and Eden Robinson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, September 24, 2022, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Allgood Cemetery.

Mr. Ronald Arthur Esmann, Sr, age 75 of Menlo, GA passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 at his residence.

Mr. Esmann was born March 2, 1947 in Detroit, MI to the late William and Shirley Havel Esmann. He was a retired firefighter/paramedic in Broward County Florida and played college football for the University of Florida. He enjoyed woodworking, and spending time with his family, especially his sons and grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Hammonds Esmann; sons, Ronald Esmann, Jr. and Justin Esmann (Kristy); brothers, William Esmann (Susann) and Robert Esmann (Jeanne); grandchildren, Lauren, Skyler, and Jamison Esmann; and great-grandchildren, Emerson Esmann and Scarlett Villeda.

Mrs. Melissa Kay Wheelington-Nofsinger age 43 of Ringgold, GA passed away Monday, September 12, 2022 at a Chattanooga hospital.

Mrs. Wheelington-Nofsinger was born November 3, 1978 in San Antonio, TX to Mark and the late Carol Wheelington. She was full of life and loved her family, friends, and pets. She was a mother of 3 and a graduate of Ringgold High School.

Along with her mother she is preceded in death by her grandparents, Harvey & Charlotte Yarbrough, and Buel & Gloria Wheelington.

Survivors include her father, Mark Wheelington (Dorleeta); husband, Michael Nofsinger; children, Rowan Wolfe (Myah), Hudson Nofsinger, and Arianna Nofsinger; and sister, Amy Collins.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Wheelington-Nofsinger will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 18 with Chaplain Steve Burns officiating.

Mrs. Patsy Carolyn Trapp Hogg, age 74, of Rome, GA, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at a local hospital.

Patsy was born in Rome, GA on June 27, 1948, the daughter of the late Marvin Trapp and the late Nellie Weathington. She worked at Trend Mills and Pharr Yarns for over thirty years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Trapp, Paul Trapp and Lowell Trapp.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Timothy Hogg; her sons, Tansley Cornwell (Carla) and Casey Cornwell; her grandchildren, Julia Cornwell, Lauren Cornwell and Logan Cornwell; her brothers, Glenn Trapp and Ray Trapp; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 1:00pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, Oaknoll Chapel, with the Rev. Jackie Dutton officiating. Ms. Bonnie Lou Allmon, age 69, of Calhoun, Georgia, departed this life Monday morning, September 12, 2022, at Cartersville Nursing Home in Cartersville, Georgia. Bonnie was born November 18, 1952, in Chattooga County, Georgia, a daughter of the late, Cecil Earl and Ethel Mae Johns Allmon. She was also preceded in death by her companion of twenty-two years, Leslie Rush, brothers, Clifford Eugene Allmon and Larry Paul Allmon, and a nephew, Ricky Shaw.
