Mr. Terry Raymond Williamson, age 70, of Trion, GA passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at his residence.
 
Mr. Williamson was born December 29, 1943 in LaFayette, GA, the son of the late Luther Williamson and Beatrice Childers Williamson. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
 
Survivors include children, Terry Williamson, Tammy Rigdon, sister, Lorene Cordell, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
 
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the Lifegate Church, LaFayette, GA, with Pastor Delbert Young officiating.

Mrs. Lemous Obera Keen Obit (M)

Mrs. Lemous Obera Keen, age 68, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Keen was born July 1, 1946, in Menlo, GA, a daughter of the late Gladstone Davis Dempsey and Annie Ruth Lawson Dempsey.  She was a member of the New Generation Christian Church, and prior to her retirement, she was employed with Mount Vernon Mills.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald Dempsey.

Mrs. Keen is survived by her husband, Melvin Keen; a son, David G. Keen; a daughter, Samantha Smith; a sister, Maxine Majors; and grandchildren, Abbigail Smith and Cain Smith.

Funeral services for Mrs. Keen will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 16, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Harkins officiating.

Mrs. Keen will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday.

Mrs. Sarah Denver Maddux Obit (M)

On December 25, 1915, the Good Lord sent us a precious gift, Mrs. Sarah Denver Maddux.  On November 14, 2014, He called her home.

“Denver,” as she was known to and loved by all, was born in Chattooga County, GA, daughter of the late Flavil and Floy Willbanks.  She was a faithful member of the Pennville Church of Christ, and was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Maddux; a sister, Polly Pope, and two brothers, Boley Willbanks and Gene Willbanks.

Survivors include her two children, Donny Maddux of Trion, GA and Andrea Pitts of Canon, GA; grandchildren, Angie King of Hartwell, GA, Savannah Pledger of Summerville, GA, Micah Maddux of Trion, GA, Heather Willingham of Trion, GA, Brooke Maddux of Trion, GA, and Noel Stone of Chattanooga, TN.  She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Maddux will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, November 16, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Min. Jim Lewis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Old Trion Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Micah Maddux, Bobby Willbanks, Lann Pledger, Butch Willbanks, Lynn Maddux, and Dwight Tinney.  Honorary pallbearers will be B.J. Gamble, Johnny Todd, Billy Worsham, Waymon Tutor, Johnny Todd, Kevin Hayes, Jay Willingham, Travis Young, Keith Young, Chris Woods, and Mark Woods.

Mrs. Ruth Broome McCollum Obit (M)

Mrs. Ruth Broome McCollum, 94 of Chattanooga, died on Friday, November 14, 2014. 
 
She was born on December 14, 1919 to the late Arthur and Sally Broome.  Ruth taught 2nd grade for 39 years, 10 years with Trion City Schools in Trion, GA and 29 years in Aiken County Schools in North Augusta, SC.  She was a member of the South Carolina Education Association. Ruth was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Augusta, GA, where she was a former Sunday School teacher and was very active with the WMU and Missions organizations.  She moved to Chattanooga in January 2012 after the death of her husband, Thomas C. McCollum.  Ruth was  member of Ridgedale Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN.
 
Survivors include her daughter, Betsy (Scott) Newman of Chattanooga.
 
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Sunday, November 16, 2014 in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Doug Plumlee officiating.  Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Monday, November 17, 2014, in West Hill Cemetery, Trion GA.  Active pallbearers will be  Kent McCrary, R.D. McCrary, John Steele, Jimmy McCollum, Jon Meier and Gary Newman.

Mrs. Johnnie Faye Owens, age 70, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, November
12, 2014 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mrs. Owens was born May 19, 1944 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Albert
William and Ruby Jewel Koonce Lawson.  She attended Pennville Alliance Church.
Mrs. Owens was retired from Roper Corporation.
 
Survivors include her husband, David Lee Owens; son, Shawn Owens; daughter,
Kimberly Stanfield; sisters, Betty Shives and Wanda “Pat” Hutchins; grandchildren,
Wendy Cordle, Bradley Owens, Tracy Maples, JR, Haven Kilpatrick-Owens, and
Brycen Owens; 1 step-granddaughter; and 4 Great Grandchildren.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Mason
Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carlos Martines officiating.  Burial will follow in
Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be Bradley Owens, Tracy Maples,
JR, Chuck Norton, Donnie Cordle, Harley Elliott, and John Worsham.  Honorary

Mr. Casey Jay Hall, age 31, of Rome, GA died Sunday, November 9, 2014 in Rome, GA.

 

Mr. Hall was born November 24, 1982 in Rome, GA, the son of Samuel Eugene Hall and Peggy Rich Dotson.

 

Survivors include parents, Sam & Brenda Hall and Peggy & Gary Dotson, brothers, Shawn Hall, Steven Holbrook, sisters and brothers-in-law, Brandy Garrett, Cindy & Keith Childers, Lacy & Ryan Ledford.

 

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 14, 2014 at the Alpine Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating.  Pallbearers are Mike Martin, Ralph Tucker, Jeff Dotson, Jim Wright, Henry Covington, Bobby Grier. Honorary pallbearers will be Nikki Teems, Staff of Rescare of Rome, GA.

Mrs. Ruth Hayes Obit (ER)

MRS. RUTH HAYES, age 84, of Summerville, GA, passed away 
Wednesday (November 12, 2014) morning in a Rome hospital.
 Mrs. Hayes was born October 30, 1930, in Fannin County, Georgia,
 a daughter of the late Rev. Samuel Harrison and Rosia Carlee
 Davenport; She was Baptist by faith and a Home Maker.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Vernon Hayes; two 
daughters, Thelma Hall (David McCullough) and Kathy Jarrett 
(Mike) all of Summerville; two sons, James Hayes and Allen 
Hayes (Troyce) of Summerville; sisters: Mary Davis of Cartersville,
 Effie Hayes of Summerville, and Edith Stanley of Talking Rock, GA.; 
Grandchildren: Jamie Rollins, Amanda Parker, Charlie Jarrett, 
Jeffery Jarrett, Matt Hayes, Chris Jarrett, Jesse Hayes and Lonnie 
Hayes; 13 Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 13, at 1:00 P.M.

Mrs. Jessie B. Wingfield Obit (ER) Updated

MRS. JESSIE B. WINGFIELD, age 90, passed away on November
 11, 2014, at the local nursing home in Summerville, Georgia. 
She was born on August 22, 1924 in Mt. Juliet, Wilson County,
 Tennessee to Leonidus “Lee” Burton and Julie Lillie Prowell Burton.
Even though she grew up on a farm in rural Tennessee, her parents
instilled the value of education in her and her siblings. She attended 
and graduated from Middle Tennessee State University, as it is known 
now, during the years of World War II. After the war, she was offered 
a job as a teacher with Trion High School. She later met her future
 husband, Marion M. Wingfield, Jr., and they married on June 18, 1949. 
Marion died in 1990 two weeks before their 41st anniversary.
Her teaching career at Trion High School began in 1946 and continued
until she retired in 1986. She taught mainly English and journalism, but had
 also taught art and music some years. She was most proud of teaching at 
least two generations of many of Trion’s students. While in college she was 
included in the 1945-1946 “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities
 and Colleges”. In 1976 as a teacher, she was included in the book, “Outstanding 
Leaders in Elementary and Secondary Education”. She and Marion and their children
 were members of the Trion Presbyterian Church during their time in Trion. She also 
enjoyed attending services at the Methodist Church in her later years.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marion M. Wingfield, Jr.,
in 1990 and her four siblings and their spouses, Willie B. (Eleanor) Burton, Lillian
 (John) Turner, Rilla (Chuck) Reeves and Hewlette (Robert) Moseley. Also preceding
 her in death were her brothers-in-law/sisters-in-law and their spouses, Jimmy (Norma)
 Wingfield, and Vula (Harlen) Dewey and Tom Wingfield.
She is survived by her two sons, Marion (Pete) Wingfield, III and Burt (Sherrie)
 Wingfield as well as by five grandchildren, Kyle (Emily) Wingfield, Brent (Lydia) 
Wingfield, Rebecca Wingfield, Amanda (David) Scruggs and Jeremy (D’Ann)) Wingfield.
 She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Charlie Wingfield, Owen Wingfield, 
David Scruggs, Jr., Taylor Scruggs and Wade Scruggs as well as a host of
 nieces and nephews.
Family visitation will be held at the Rainwater Funeral Home on Saturday,
 November 15 between 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held
 in the chapel of Rainwater Funeral Home on Saturday, November 15, at 2:00 P.M.  
Private family interment in West Hill Cemetery will follow the service.
The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
to the Trion Alumni Association Scholarship fund.

MRS. OLA JANE MCWHORTER, age 94, of Watson Road, Trion, 
Georgia passed away Wednesday in the local rest home.  A native
 of DeKalb County, Alabama, Mrs. McWhorter was born to the late 
Robert L. and Tavie Garmany Timmons on March 19, 1920. 
 She was retired from the card room of Riegel Textile Corporation
 and was preceded in death by husband, the late W. R. McWhorter.
Surviving are daughter-Jean Westbrook of Trion; son-Ralph E.
 McWhorter of Trion; sister-Analee Dotson of Trion; brothers-J.B. Timmons 
and Arlie Timmons both of Trion; seven Grandchildren, ten Great Grandchildren;
 several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14th, at 12:00 noon from
 the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with 
Rev. Ricky Biddle officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery.  Active
