Mr. Frank Lloyd Parks, Sr. age 80, of Summerville, GA, died Thursday, July 31, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Parks was born February 8, 1934, in Mineola, NY, son of the late George Everett Parks and Ramona Xiques Parks.  He was self-employed on Wall Street as a stockbroker and financial advisor, and in later years, as a contractor.  He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served as a Drill Instructor and served in the Korean War.  He earned the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.  He also served as a Packmaster with the Cub Scouts of America in Suffolk County, NY where he raised more money than any other Cub Scout Leader.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Parks was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Mr. Parks is survived by his wife, Ellen Lorraine Sims-Parks; children, Kerrie Lynn Parks-Bowie, Frank Lloyd Parks, Jr., Stephanie Keller Dennis, and Laura Beth Sims; a sister, Ruth Wright; grandchildren, Amy and Paul Priest, Allison and Brad McConnell, Brandon Bowie, Jessica and Josh Green, Zach Dennis, Alleigha Dennis, Taylor Sims, and Layla Sims; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.\

Funeral services for Mr. Parks will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 3, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Marvin Richardson officiating.  Entombments will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be Larry LuAllen, Tim LuAllen, Josh Green, Jason Green, Paul Priest, Taylor Sims, Zach Dennis, Brandon Bowie, and Brad McConnell.  Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Kellett, Chuck Hammonds, Norman Bryant, Dennis Bryant, Alan Bryant, and Anthony Bryant.

Mr. Parks will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour on Sunday.

Mr. Jerry Wayne Clowdus, age 70, of Gaylesville, Alabama, formerly of Lafayette, GA, passed away suddenly, Wednesday, July 30, 2014, in Centre, Alabama.

Mr. Clowdus was born in Naomi, Georgia on April 15, 1944, son of the late Cecil Clowdus and Maude Smith Clowdus. He was a member of the Gaylesville Baptist Church and prior to retirement was self employed in the Construction Industry. Mr. Clowdus was an avid fisherman, loved piloting airplanes and enjoyed tinkering in his shop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a younger brother and two sisters, Annette Wyatt and Nell Wilson, and a granddaughter, Chloe Clowdus.

Mr. Clowdus is survived by his wife, Dora Clowdus; sons, Jerry Clowdus, Jr. and his wife, Vannice, Jeremy Clowdus and Charles “Chuck” Clowdus; daughter, Lisa McDowell; brothers, Lamar Clowdus and Gene Clowdus; sisters, Evelyn Smith and Ellen Maddox; three grandchildren, Maleigha Clowdus, Jeremy Clowdus, Jr. and Bentley Clowdus; and a number of nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services for Mr. Clowdus will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Nixon and Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.

Mr. Clowdus will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Ms. Carrie Bell McClam, age 73, of Summerville, Georgia passed away

Sunday, July 27, 2014 at her residence. She was preceded in death by

her parents, Henry and Ruth Player, two sons, Johnny McClam, Herbert

McClam, four brothers, Roy Lee, Vern, Herbert, and Orilie McClam,

granddaughter, Desirea Moore. She was known as a loving homemaker.

She leaves to cherish her memories those that she adored and loved so

much, two daughters, Minister Mary NeSmith of Lake City, South Carolina

and Denise (David) Moore of Summerville, Georgia; four loving sisters, Ruth

(Robert) Player of New Zion, South Carolina, Ruby Lee Player, Creola Mickens,

Emma Lee Wells of Turbeville, South Carolina; one loving brother, Ruben (Ann)

Player of Britton, South Carolina; one special uncle, Troy Brayboy of Sumter,

South Carolina; her grandchildren, Kendall Moore, David (Heather) Moore, Jr.,

and Iyanna Nesmith of Lake City; great grandchildren, Dayvoin Moore, Javon

Moore, and Zakale Moore; god grandchildren, Kynsli Watkins and Cydni White of

Summerville, Inayah Wallace and Imahri Jenkins of Lawrenceville, Georgia; god

daughters and my girls, Fecia Watkins, Keysha Patton and Preeya Fain; a devoted

 At the age of 60, Brenda Darlene Storey Scoggins of Summerville, GA, went

to be with her Lord and Savior on July 26, 2014, following a battle with cancer.  

She is survived by her husband, Steve Scoggins; her mother, Elizabeth Storey;

her children, Stacie Marshall and Patrick Scoggins; her sister, Sharon Oxford

with her husband, Rusty; her nephews and niece, Drew, Ashlee and Seth Oxford;

her son-in-law, Jeremy Marshall, and three grandchildren, Addison, Selah, and

Grace Marshall.

The oldest of two children, Darlene was born February 16, 1954, in Rome, GA.  

She was known for her crafting talents, her passion for having fun with family

and friends, and her deep commitment to her community.  Darlene, with her

husband Steve, were long time members and contributors to Chattooga Young

Farmers and Chattooga Farm Bureau.  Over the course of 32 years, Darlene

taught Family & Consumer Science to over one thousand students, caring not just

for their grades, but their very lives.  Throughout her time at Chattooga High School,

Darlene started a daycare for teenage mothers, oversaw everything from beauty

pageants to the FCCLA, participated in the Georgia Teacher’s Association, broke

up school fights, and served as unofficial school counselor.

Darlene was also an integral part of Armuchee Baptist Church for 37 years, playing

the piano, leading the choir, and participating in countless Bible studies and care

groups.  To her husband, Steve, Darlene was the perfect partner, camping

companion, and best friend.  To her sister, she was friend, confidant, and co-caregiver

to their mother.   To her children, she was a patient and caring mother, always

present with a hug, a wise word, or shoulder to cry on.  To her grandchildren, she

was a loving Mimi who never showed up without a treat and a craft from her “Mimi Bag.” 

To her many friends, she was a party planner, a craft guru, and the one that always

had exactly what you needed – somewhere in her car!

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at 2pm  at the Armuchee

Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Clonts and Mr. Jeremy Marshall officiating. 

Interment will follow in Armcuhee Baptist Chruch Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby

Stevens officiating.  The church is located at 6648 Big Texas Valley Rd. NW, Rome, GA.    

Friends and family will be received at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, North Chapel,

at 4900 Martha Berry Highway, on Monday, July 28, 2014, from 5-8pm.  At other hours,

the family may be reached at their respective residence.

Mrs. Ruby Earlene “Sis” Craig, age 73, of the Dickeyville Community, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Floyd Medical Center. 

Mrs. Craig was born in Trion, Georgia on September 1, 1940, daughter of the late John Earl Crider and Mary Frances Ruby Lee Croy Crider. She was employed with the Riegel/Mt. Vernon Mills, working as a battery hand and retired from WireTech, working as a splicer She was member and supporter of the Humane Society and was also a strong supporter of the United States Military and Veterans. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Craig was preceded in death by brothers, Leon Crider, and Kenneth Crider; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Dawn Terry. 

Mrs. Craig is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Don Arnett, Delores, John Terry and Becky Bandy and Jerry Gilreath; brothers, Lynn Crider and Johnny Crider; sisters, Charlene Giles; grandchildren, Jessica Yates and Rachael Tanner; great grandchildren, Dawson Hunter Duncan, Noah Lane Duncan, and Jozelyn Tanner; special friend, Marvin Angles and a number of nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Craig will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Joel A. Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Jason Gilland, Jim Gilland, Rusty Maddux, J.J. Bowers, Jeremy Giles, Kevin Martin and Ray Laney.

Mrs. Craig will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 P.M.
