Mrs. Harriett Mitchell Carroll, Obit. (ER) corrected

MRS. HARRIETT MITCHELL CARROLL,  age 89, of Summerville, Georgia passed 
away Wednesday, August 13, 2014, afternoon in the local Nursing Home. A
lifetime resident of Chattooga County, She was a daughter of the late Alfred
Anderson “Shorty” and Arrie Dendy Cash. Mrs. Carroll was a member of South
Commerce Church of Christ, retired from the winding department of Summerville
Cotton Mill, and was preceded in death by husband, the late J. W. Mitchell, a
daughter, Sandra Henderson, great granddaughter, Jamie DeLee, sister, Betty
Faye McGinnis, and brother, Jack Cash, all died earlier.

Surviving are daughters and spouses-Judy and Larry Allmon and Becky and
Steve Osby all of Summerville; grandchildren-Julie Keen, Amanda Rectenwald,
and Bejay Osby; great grandchildren-Jennifer Burrage, Drake Keen, Ethan and
Lucas Rectenwald; great great grandchildren-Kayleigh Burrage, Coal Hennon,
Payton Keen, and Cassie Burrage; brother-Sewell Cash of Summerville; several
Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 15th, at 4:00 P.M. from the J.D. Hill
Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Minister Tommy Broome
and Rev. Jimmy Bryant officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery, active
pallbearers-Jacob McGinnis, Pres Cash, Jackie Cash, Andy Cash, John Blackwell, and Jabo McGinnis
honorary pallbearers-Tommy McGraw, Donnie Baker, , Ruth Warren,
Marie Houser, Eugene McGinnis, David Keen, Wayne McArthur, and Phil Cavin.
The Family will receive friends Friday from 2 until the hour of service at the Funeral

Mr. Robert Clark “Bobby” Wood, Obit. (M)

Mr. Robert Clark "Bobby" Wood, age 73, of Trion, Ga died Sunday, August 10,
2014 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mr. Wood was born June 3, 1941 in Trion, Ga, the son of the late Winifred 
Cornelius Wood and Beatrice Clark Wood. He was retired from Reichhold
Chemicals. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, 
Linda Jeanette Dollar Wood.
 
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Victoria Wood, Roger
and Kerry Wood; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl McGuire and Marty Green;
sister, Shirley Reed; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Wood will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August
13, 2014 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Phil McGuire officiating. Burial will
follow in West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ryan Wood, Clark Wood,
Billy Clark, Heath McGuire, Garren Clark, and Marty Green. Honorary pallbearers
will be all members of North Georgia Sportsman Club.

Mr. Joe Hammond Obit (ER)

MR. JOE J. HAMMOND, age 94, of Powder Springs, Georgia formerly of Summerville, Georgia passed day Thursday, August 7, 2014, in Powder Springs. Mr. Hammond was born in Chattooga County on October 25, 1919, a son of the late Joseph Fletcher and Agnes Jones Hammond. He was a watch repairman for 31 years, afterward worked as a watchman for a textile plant, for 15 years, until retirement. Mr. Hammond was a member of the First Presbyterian Church PCA, in Summerville.

Surviving are Nieces and Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 10th, from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Greg King officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. The Family will receive friends, Sunday, from 2:00 P.M. until the service hour, at the Funeral Home.

MRS. MARY A. JONES, age 94, of Summerville, Georgia, Pennville Community, passed away Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the home of Bill and Susan Durham. She was preceded in death by parents, the late Robert “Bob” and Annie Jane Stoker McDaniel. Mrs. Jones was born on Loouout Mountain, Georgia, Chattooga County, on March 27, 1920. She was preceded in death by husband, Chester “Yankee” G. Jones, sisters-Janie McDaniel Durham and Rosie McDaniel Smith; brothers, Enoch McDaniel, John McDaniel, and Earl McDaniel. Mrs. Jones was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and was retired from the Georgia Rug Mill. 

Surviving are step children, Raymond (Annette) Jones and Angel (Danny) Wilcox; nephews and nieces, Bill (Susan) Durham of Summerville, Davis McDaniel of Summerville, Dewey (Lyllabelle) Smith of Ider, AL., Doug (Denise) McDaniel of Rossville, Tim (Karen) McDaniel of Summerville, Tony McDaniel, Ann (Leon) Canaday of Blackshear, GA, Earlene (David) Elliott of Rome, Sue (Phillip) Murphy of Gaylesville, AL., Thelma Mayes of Athens, TN.; special nephew, Donnie Lee McDaniel of Summerville; lifelong friend and neighbor, Betty Nichols; many other nephews and nieces also survive.

Mrs. Rachel Nicholson Sparks, age 79, of Trion, GA, died Monday, August 04, 2014 at her home.

Mrs. Sparks was born April 8, 1935 in Rome, GA, the daughter of the late Fate Mann and mother and step-father, Myrtle Mann Headrick and Henry Headrick . She was retired from Riegel Textiles, Mt. Vernon Mills. She was a member of the Pennville Church of Christ. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Len Earl Sparks.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jack & Karen Sparks; daughter and son-in-law, Delaine and Nolan Crisp; brother, Ralph Mann; sister, Ernestine Dickerson; grandchildren, Misty McQuese, Lori McWhorter, Brittany McCurry, and Nathaniel Sparks; great grandchildren, Noah McQuese, Eli McQuese, Will McWhorter, and Ava Grace McQuese; and an aunt, Irene Roberts, and special care givers, Susan and Levern Crisp.

Mr. Terry Wayne DeBerry, age 63, of Trion, GA, died Saturday, August 2, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. DeBerry was born July 11, 1951, in Trion, GA, son of the late Ennis DeBerry and Cecil Nelson DeBerry.  Prior to his retirement, he worked in construction.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy DeBerry.

Mr. DeBerry is survived by his sons, Adam DeBerry and Jesse DeBerry; daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Lonnie Walters, Neisha and Tim Rutledge; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Elaine DeBerry, Harold and Sandra DeBerry, Jerry DeBerry, and Fred DeBerry; sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Buddy Rosson, Linda and Bobby Shaver, and Debbie Lynn Womack; 5 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. DeBerry will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 5, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Rutledge officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be nephews.

Mr. Billy Joe  Gann, age 77, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday August 1, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Gann was born June 17, 1937, in Hamilton Alabama, the son of the late John and Edna Howell Gann.  Mr. Gann was retired from Mt Vernon Mills and a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. Mr. Gann was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Gann, sister, Marie Gann, grandsons, Shane Chamlee, Billy Henderson, granddaughters, Becky and Sherry Henderson, a son-in-law, Gary Chamlee.

Survivors include his children, William Gann, Becky Chamlee, Patricia & Willard Hall, sister, Virgina Gann Couch, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 4 greeat-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews survive Billy Joe Gann.

Funeral service will be held 5:00 p.m. Sunday August 3, 2014 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. MS. SHIRLEY FAYE LEDGER, age 65, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Friday afternoon from injuries received in an automobile accident. A native of Georgetown, Indiana, She was born on February 13, 1948, to the late Lawrence Qinn Eskridge and Helen Margaret “Crickett” Ward Eskridge. She was a seamstress, retired from Echota Fabric. Ms. Ledger attended the Spring Creek Baptist Church; and was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Frances Eskridge, Doug Eskridge, and David Eskridge.

Surviving are Her children, Donna Smith and Darrin & April Smith all of Summerville, Dry Creek Community; sisters-Julie Taylor of Florida and Brenda Wansley of Atlanta; Brothers-Earl Eskridge of Shannon, Jeff Eskridge and Greg Eskridge both of Lanesville, Ind.; granddaughters-Chrystin Stotts of Ind., Sidney Smith of Summerville, Kasen Gilliam of Summerville; Aunt-Loyce Carter ; a number of “Adopted Children”; severa; Aunts, Uncles, Nieces , and Nephews.
