Mr. Franklin D. Messer, age 81, of Cedar Bluff, AL, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Messer was born February 15, 1933 in Cedar Bluff, AL, son of the late George and Lila Brown Messer.  Prior to his retirement, he was a supervisor with Ledbetter Brothers for over 30 years, and had also worked at Florida Rock Industries.  Mr. Messer was also a cattle farmer.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, George Messer, Jr., and a sister, Sue Messer Peace.

Mr. Messer is survived by his wife, Dixie Messer; daughters, Shelia Messer Hurley and Cindia Messer Peoples; a sister, Tressie Hanks; grandchildren, Michelle Wilkins, Kristen Bobo, Katie Peoples, Collier Peoples, and Meagan Hurley; great-grandchildren, Angel Bare, Danny Bare, Tristan Bare, and Will Bare, great-great-grandchildren, Madelyn Bobo and Brinlee Mobbs.

Funeral services for Mr. Messer will be held at 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Monday, June 16, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Melvyn Salter officiating.  Interment will follow in the Unity Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Mike Hurley, Bryan Peoples, Collier Peoples, Jeff Grace, Paul Peace, Dennis Peace, Cole Peace, and Michael Peace.  D. C. Sanford will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Mr. Messer will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) until the hour of service on Monday.

Mr. Charles Everett “Cadillac” McSears, age 78, of Summerville, GA , formerly of LaFayette, GA, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Kindred Hospital, Rome.

Mr. McSears was born June 9, 1935 in Walker County, GA, the son of the late Charles McSears and Lueolllie Powell McSears.  His parents, two brothers, and seven sisters have preceded him in death.

Mr. McSears attended school in the Walker County School System.  He was known and loved greatly.  He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist and was helpful to all who knew him.  We will remember him for his love for hats and how dignified he wore them.  He was inducted into the United States Army in 1953 and was honorably released from active duty in 1959.

He was married to the former and late Mrs. Ruby McSears.  As a dear husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. McSears loved his family.  For many years he was employed with General Motors where he retired in 1990.

Those who now remain and are devoted to his memory are his daughters and son-in-law, Mrs. Quby (Cornel) Brinkley, of Atlanta, GA, Ms. Linda Lawrence, of Summerville, GA; brother, Mr. Richard McSears, of Cleveland, Ohio; grandsons, Tommy (Denise) Lawrence and Charleston Brinkley; granddaughters, Rosie (Robert) Williamson and Selena (Melvin) Jones; Great grandchildren, Tommy Dakota Lawrence, Damaris Christopher, Shawn Lawrence, Johnathan Mayes, Josh Wells, and Jeremy Wells; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at Mason Funeral Home with Bishop V. T. Harden officiating.  Burial will be in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Tommy Dakota Lawrence, Damarius Christopher, Shawn Lawrence, Johnathan Mayes, Josh Wells, and Jeremy Wells.  Flower Bearers will be Granddaughters.

Mr. McSears will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until the service hour on Wednesday.

MR. TRAVIS EARL MONEY, age 72, of Menlo, Georgia passed away Saturday, June 7, 2014, morning in a Rome hospital. A native Chattooga Countian, He was born to the late Earl and Sybil Chesnut Money on April 11, 1942. Mr. Money was a member of the Menlo United Methodist Church, was an Auctioneer and along with his wife, Doris, owned and operated Travis Money Antique Auction Company, located in downtown Summerville. He was preceded in death by his daughter, the late Aleshia Renee Money.
  
Surviving are His wife, Doris Sumner Money; son and daughter-in-law, Jason Sumner Money and Nicole Money; grandchildren, Tatum Renee Money and Austin Sumner Money; sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Ann and David Ray and Barbara and Buck Leath; brothers and sisters-in-law, Randy and Pat Money, Billy Sam Money, and Sara Money; several Nieces and Nephews.
  
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 10th, 2014 at 2 P.M. from the J.D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home. Pastors Larry Elliott, Jerry Rutledger, and Jody Brock officiating, interment in the West Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Larry Vickers, George Stivers, Lynn Hall, Rocky Hatfield, Jackie Cash, and Stacy Boyd. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Hamby, Jimmy Deflice, Billy Wallace, Gary Mobbs, Albert Palmer, Jon Dennie, Eddie Hamby, Bobby Lee Cook, Daniel Cook, Jerry Westbrook, and all attending auctioneers. MR. JAMES LARRY TUCKER, age 66, of Raines Circle, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, June 6, 2014, evening in a Rome hospital. Mr. Tucker was born on December 23, 1947 in Blanche, Alabama to the late Jimmy Tucker and Ethel Christine Alred Armstrong. Together, He and wife Gail owned and operated the former Larry’s Bar B Q restaurant, in Pennville.  

Surviving are His wife-Gail Tucker; children-Brian & Julia Tucker, Blake Tucker, Kim Moses, and Jackie Portwood; brother and spouse-Johnny & Linda Armstrong; grandchildren-Branden Tucker, Breanna Tucker, and Gracie Tucker; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 8th, at 3:00 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, Pastor Tom Russell will officiate, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Chris Devier, Steve Sizemore, Jeff Devier, Jacob Devier, Kenny Hughes, and Sean Langston. The Family will receive friends Sunday, from 2 until the hour of service.

Mr. James Elbert  “Pillhead” Edgeworth, age 79, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday June 6, 2014, at his residence.

Mr. Edgeworth was born Oct. 28, 1934, in Henagar, AL, the son of the late Alex and Beatrice Dean Edgeworth. He was a retired truck driver from Storey Trucking.   Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Dick Edgeworth, Cecil Edgeworth, Floyd Edgeworth, John Frank Edgeworth, sister, Flora Jennings and son, James Lee Edgeworth.

Survivors include, wife, Mildred Inez Edgeworth, sons, Sammy Neal Edgeworth, Timothy Edgeworth & Desrie Wooton, daughter, Rebecca Ann  & Jackie Banther, brothers, Alfred Bearden Edgeworth, Marcus Boyd Edgeworth, grandchildren, Jeremy David Edgeworth, Joshua Britt Warnock, Tommy Jase Warnock, Jimmy David Warnock, Brandi Michelle Edgeworth, Haylee Edgeworth, Jonathan Spencer Edgeworth, Megan Victoria Warren, Shyanne Edgeworth, great-grandchildren, Sammy Edgeworth, Landon Edgeworth, Carson Warren, Chaney Warnock, Landon Warnock, Xander Warnock, Jada Martin, Charlie Smith, Elijah Smith, Chandler Edgeworth, and several nieces and nephews.
