Mr. Everett Lee Martin (M)

Mr. Everett Lee Martin, age 27, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, June 2, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
 
Mr. Martin was born October 15, 1986, in Rome, GA, a son of John Wesley Martin, Sr. and Janice Chisolm Conner.  He attended the North Summerville  Baptist Church and was employed with Omni Lighting.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Homer and Lula Martin.
 
Mr. Martin is survived by his father, John Wesley Martin, Sr., mother and step-father, Janice Chisolm Conner and James Gregory Conner; brothers, John Wesley Martin, Jr., Charles Robert “Chuck” Norton III; sister, Brittani Conner; grandparents, Buddy and Martha Chisolm; nephews, Chip Norton, Chandler Norton, Cameron Norton; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
 
Funeral services for Mr. Martin will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, from the North Summerville Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Russell, Rev. Brandon Bishop, and Rev. Mike Odum officiating.  Burial will follow in the Perennial Springs Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Bucky Chisolm, Blake Chisolm, Wesley Chisolm, Keith Bond, Kevin Bond, Cory Early, Kelvin Bain, and Chris Bain.  Honorary pallbearers will be friends and classmates.
 
Mr. Martin will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday.  He will also be in state at North Summerville Baptist Church from 10:30 A.M. until the service hour on Wednesday.

Mr. Johnnie Carl Ivey Obit (ER) Update

MR. JOHNNIE CARL IVEY, age 90, of  Summerville, Georgia passed away 
Monday, May 26, 2014, in the local nursing home.  A native of Huntsville, 
Alabama He was born to the late John Bryant and Lillie Cadilla Michaels 
Ivey on March 1, 1924.  Mr. Ivey was retired from Harriett-Henderson Mills 
and a Veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army in Naples, South France, 
and Central Europe; earning the rank of Staff Sargent, and was awarded 
the Bronze Service Arrowhead, EAMET Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal,
 Purple Heart, and Bronze Star.  He was preceded in death by sisters, the
 late Rosie King, Viola Thomas, and Eula Mitchell. 

Surviving are daughters & spouses-Carolyn & Charles Spraggins, Jane
 & Mike Floyd, and Debbie & Arnold Kilgo; sons & spouses-Dennis & Joan 
Ivey and Steve & Yvonne Ivey; sister- Audry Rial; 12 Grandchildren, 26 
Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces , and Nephews 
also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 29th, at 1:00 P.M. from
the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home, with 
Pastors Jimmy Bryant and Stanley Smith officiating, entombment in 
Greenhills Memory Garden, with Military Honor’s by American Legion Shanklin-Attaway Post #5, 
of Rome.  Active Pallbearers Adam Ivey, Ryan Headrick, Matt Floyd, Mark Floyd, Mickey Floyd,
 and Chad Spraggins.  The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Thursday from noon 
until the hour of service.

Mrs. Shirley Ann Smith Obit (M)

Mrs. Shirley Ann Smith, age 75, of Menlo, GA, passed away Sunday May 25, 2014, in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Smith was born December 22, 1938, in Menlo, GA, daughter of the late Henry C. Vanpelt and Bertha A. Phillips Vanpelt.  She was a homemaker and a member of the New Faith Tabernacle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Edward Smith, daughter, Rita Lynn Smith, son Jeffrey Kirt Smith, and sisters, Margie Ingle and Ruby Vanpelt.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her sons, Alton E. Smith, Tim Smith; daughters, Melissa Ward, Tamala Roan; sisters, Helen Williams, Marilyn Brown, Nora Gibson; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Brown and Rev. Shane Gibson officiating.  Burial will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Chris Smith, Mike Smith, Kebo Smith, Joe Rape, Darrell Kilgore, and Shawn Smith.  Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Ingle, Jimmy Murdock, Jay Ledford, Ricky Beason, and Tony Ingle.

Mr. James Lee Edgeworth, age 58, of LaFayette, GA, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at his residence.
 
Mr. Edgeworth was born October 31, 1955, in Summerville, GA, a son of James Elbert Edgeworth and Mildred Inez Hunter Edgeworth.  He was employed with Mohawk Industries and was a proud truck driver for over 30 years.  Mr. Edgeworth was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sam and Azor Mason Hunter; and paternal grandparents, John Elic and Isa Beatrice Dean Edgeworth.
 
Mr. Edgeworth is survived by his wife, Vickie Denise Rogers Edgeworth; sons and daughter-in-law, Jeremy David and April Edgeworth, Adrian James Edgeworth; daughters, Brandi Michelle Edgeworth, Haylee Diane Edgeworth; parents, James Elbert and Mildred Inez Hunter Edgeworth; brothers, Sammy Neal Edgeworth, Timmy David Edgeworth; sister, Rebecca Ann Banther; grandchildren, Sean Chandler Edgeworth, Elijah Nicholas Smith, and Charlie Hannah Smith; and a great-grandchild, Greyson Bernard Jackson.

Mr. Charles Crawford “Charlie” Teague Obit (M)

Mr. Charles Crawford “Charlie” Teague, age 68, of Lyerly, GA, died Thursday, May 15, 2014, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Teague was born June 14, 1945, in Gaylesville, AL, son of the late Henry Boughton Teague and Velma Chloe Teague. He was retired from the Cherokee County School System where he worked as a teacher. He was a member of the Mount Zion Independent Church where he served as pianist and a Bible teacher for over 45 years. He also served as a pianist for the Higher Praise Trio and many other groups. Mr. Teague played music at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center as well as the Suites at Oakview. He was a SP5 in the U. S. Army Med Field SRVC and served on the USAH Okinawa during the Vietnam Conflict.

Mr. Teague is survived by his wife, Martha Jo Teague; a son, Chuck Teague; daughters and son-in-law, Cheri and Alex Proels, Carla Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Boughton and Emma Teague; sisters and brother-in-law, Martha Owens, Betty and Billy Young; brother-in-law, Ralph Duff; grandchildren, Breana Bivens, Eva Proels, Maximilian Proels, Quentin Proels, and Sammi Rowell.

Funeral services for Mr. Teague will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 18, 2014, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. L. Sharpe and Rev. Jim Vanpelt officiating. Burial will follow in the Summerville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews.

MR. CHARLES AUGUSTA VAUGHN- Age 81, Of Summerville, Georgia passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, retired from Kellogg’s Bakery Company, and a long time employee of Willis Funeral Home, Inc., in Dalton, Georgia.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland L. Vaughn, Sr., and Mamie Rounsaville Vaughn, his wife, Jimmie Lee Long Vaughn, and brother, Harold Arnold.

He is survived by four daughters, Burnetta (Charles) Pender, Elaine Wiggins, Denise Brown, all of Summerville, Georgia, and Gwinnetta (Orange) Evans of LaGrange, Georgia; three sons, Charles A. (Madonna) Vaughn, Jr. of Deltonna, Florida, Gregory Lee Vaughn of Summerville, and Vincent (Christy) Madden of LaFayette, Georgia; sister, Rosalyn Malcolm of Atlanta, Georgia; two brothers, Cleveland L. (Annie) Vaughn, Jr. of Summerville and Robert (Portia) Vaughn of Waldorf, Maryland; sister-in-law, Clemmie L. Mason of Cleveland, Ohio; son-in-law, Larry Allen of Summerville; eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Mrs. Mildred Gore Wilson

Mrs. Mildred Gore Wilson, age 88, of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday May 11, 2014, in Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Wilson was born May 12, 1925, in Chickamauga, GA, the daughter of Gus and Fannie Horton. She was retired from the Chattooga County Hospital and preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Moore, and a uncle, Charlie Benson.

Survivors include her husband, John Wilson and other relatives.
