Mr. Michael E. Haygood, age 48, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at the Hutcheson Medical Center.

Mrs. Charlon Evaughn Cavin Obit (Perry)

Charlon Evaughn Cavin, age 75 of Gaylesville, passed away Monday, October 14th at her residence.
Funeral services will be 12:00 P.M. Thursday, October 17th at Perry Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Gary Howell and Rev. Doug Maddox officiating; burial will follow in Weiss Lake Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:PM Wednesday.
Pallbearers include Larry Lindsey, Wade Partridge, Matt Hawkins, Terry Hawkins, Casey Ray, Larry Ferguson, Herschel Pruitt, Leo Bridges.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Rickey) Wheeling of Gaylesville; brother, C.W. (Teresa) Ray of Cedar Bluff; sisters, Sue Mobbs of Cedar Bluff, Margie (Harry) Adderhold of Piedmont; grandchildren, Sandi and Courtney Wheeling; great grandson, Jaxon Wheeling; special caretaker, Penny Cavin; thanks to New Beacon Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Joe Cavin; daughter, Deborah VanPelt; brother, Sonny Ray; grandson, Todd Wheeling.
Mrs. Cavin was a native of Cherokee County, the daughter of the late Dee Lee and Gussie Mae Holbrook Ray and was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church. 

Mr. Bobby W. Shook Obit (ER)

MR. BOBBY W. SHOOK, age 79, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013, afternoon in a Rome hospital. He was born in Statesville, N.C. on October 30, 1933, a son of the late Bill and Agnes Powell Shook. Mr. Shook was a member of Summerville First United Methodist Church, a Veteran of U. S. Army during Viet Nam, and was a Chemist retired from Goodyear Corporation. He was preceded in death by a grandson, the late Mark Price. Surviving are wife-Martha Busbin Shook; daughters-Susan Wilson, Sara Billings, and Angela Barton; sons-Scott Shook, Sandy Shook, and Tony Shook; a Sister-Peggy Bright, Ten Grandchildren, Five Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews also survive. Memorial service will be held Thursday at 7:30 P.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Penson officiating, Honorary Pallbearers will be Men of the Summerville First United Methodist Church. The Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home Thursday from 6 P.M. until the hour of service. Earle Rainwater Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sheila Diane Teems Obit (M)

Mrs. Sheila Diane Teems, age 62, of Summerville, GA died Monday, October 14, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Teems was born February 26, 1951 in LaFayette, GA, the daughter of the late Thomas Warren Godfrey and Frances Theressa Hill Godfrey. She was a homemaker. Other than her parents, Mrs. Teems was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Ann Teems; sisters, Nancy Parris and Dorothea Farmer; and brothers, Ottis Godfrey, Larry Godfrey, and Allan Godfrey.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Wayne Teems; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Franklin Selman; brothers, Danny Godfrey and Charles Godfrey; sisters, Belinda Coley, Glenda Goins, Frances Pitts, and Audrey Wells; grandchildren, Sara Mae Pollard and husband, Jesse Pollard, and Jason Selman; and a great-grandchild, Lizzy Anne Pollard.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Teems officiating. Burial will follow in Armuchee Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Barbara Ann Rhinehart Young Obit (M)

Mrs. Barbara Ann Rhinehart Young, age 72, of Trion, GA, died Sunday, October 13, 2013, at her residence.

Mrs. Young was born May 12, 1941, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Kenneth W. and Jessie Willingham Rhinehart. Prior to her retirement, she was a supervisor with the Lookout Mountain Community Services. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Hoyt Rhinehart, and a sister, Mary DeGideo.

Mrs. Young is survived by her sons, Greg Tomlin and Grant Tomlin; daughter, Sonia Kay Wilkinson; sister, Waydean Jackson; 4 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Young will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 16, 2013, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tony Jackson and Rev. Andy Hutchins officiating. Burial will follow in the Pennville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Steve Willingham, Mike Jones, Zach Jones, Terry Smith, Buddy Rhinehart, and Junior Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be grandchildren, Abbi, Madelyn, Emma, Jerzie, Parker, Paisley, and Ben, and Charles Willingham.

Mr. Bobby Eugene Ramey Obit (CFH)

Mr. Bobby Eugene Ramey, age 72, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ramey was born in Lafayette, Georgia on April 29, 1941, son of the late Marvin Earle Ramey and Pauline Nations Ramey. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and prior to retirement, was employed with Shaw Industries as a mechanic. He was an avid fisherman and loved being outdoors. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ramey was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Ruth Evans Ramey, and a brother, Dennis Ramey. 

Mr. Ramey is survived by a son, Vincent Eugene Ramey of Trion; daughters and son-in-law, Leicia Ward and Katrina and Shawn Haney of Summerville; stepchildren, William Allen Brown, Bobby Lewis Brown and Paula Ann Morgan; brother, Jimmy Ramey of Lafayette; sister, Joanne Dover of Trion; 6 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside and Interment Services for Mr. Ramey will be held Monday, October 14, 2013 at 2:30 P.M. in the Bryan Cemetery with his brother-in-law, David Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Bryan Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Cody Ramey, Ricky Thornton, Jason Buice, William Brown, Gary Brown and David Evans.

Mr. Ramey will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home-Petitt Chapel and the family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M.

Mrs. April Renee Porter Obit (M) Updated/Corrected

Mrs. April Renee Porter, age 36, of Summerville, GA, passed away Saturday October 12, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Porter was born February 15, 1977, in Werzberg Germany, the daughter of Jimmy Blalock and Ann Lovell Hawkins, she was formerly employed with Dollar General Store.

Survivors include her husband, Billy LaDon Porter, daughter, Ashley Nicole Porter, son, Baylee Cole Porter, father, Jimmy Blalock, mother and step-father, Ann and Curtis Hawkins, sister and brother-in-law, Angie and Caleb Case.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday October 15, 2013 from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Peppers officiating with interment in the Lyerly Cemetery. Mr. Gordon Clyde Lee Obit (M)

Mr. Gordon Clyde Lee, age 80, of Trion, GA, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Lee was born August 1, 1933, in Trion, GA, son of the late Raymond Eugene and Mary L. Brock Lee. He was a member of the Ridgeway Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Roper. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lee was preceded in death by his sisters, Irene Bruce and Betty Minatree; and brothers, Wayne Lee and Ernest Lee; grandson-in-law, Shaun Bartlett.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Littlejohn Lee; daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Allen Hughes; grandchildren, Andy and Andrea Lee, Amanda Bartlett and Jonathan Nelson; great-grandchildren, Austin Lee, Allie Lee, and C. J. Bartlett; brother, John Robert Lee; sisters, Brenda Conrad, Nell Brown, and Pat Sizemore;.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, October 10, 2013, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Littlejohn Cemetery at Ridgeway. Rev. John David Gill Obit (M)

Rev. John David Gill, age 71, of LaFayette, GA died Monday, October 7, 2013 at his residence.

Rev. Gill was born May 5, 1942 in Summerville, GA, the son of the late Jess Gill and Emma Ponder Gill. Rev. Gill was a member of Faith Worship Center. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, J. D. Gill, Melvin Gill, and Lester Gill.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Gill; daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Kenny Clark and Gina and Eric Hurley; sisters, Louise Kinsey and Ester Saber; grandchildren, Joshua Smallan, Chelsey Smallan, and Lance Corp. Joseph Smallen; step-grandchildren, Katie Clark, Nathan Clark, Zach Clark, and Erica Hurley; step great grandchild, Lawson Sain; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p. m. Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Russell Swafford and Rev. Ricky Clark officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by Bro. Max Reed. Mrs. Kathleen Cavin Obit (ER)

MRS. KATHLEEN CAVIN, age 82, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday evening in the local nursing home. A native of Alabama, She was born to the late Houston Henry and Tressie Truss Smith on May 16, 1931. She was a member of Summerville First Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class of the Church. Mrs. Cavin was retired from retail sales and was preceded in death by husband, the late William Alvin Cavin.

Survivors include daughter-Anne (Henry) Moxley of Griffin; son-Phil (Beth) Cavin of Summerville; brother-in-law-Joe Smith; grandchildren-Allison Walters, Elizabeth Walters Wheeler, Paul Cavin, and Rachel Cavin Witt; four Great Grandchildren; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be Held Saturday, October 12th, at 2:00 P.M. from the Summerville First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Mahan officiating, interment in Alpine Cemetery. Active Pallbearers Mike Turner, Greg Thomas, Bob Rhinehart, Joe Smith, Andy Cash, and Jackie Cash; Honorary Pallbearers members of the Dorcas Sunday School Class of Summerville First Baptist Church.
