Mrs. Johnnie Mae Wells Obit (ER)

MRS. JOHNNIE MAE WELLS, age 82, of Covington, Georgia, formerly of Trion, Georgia,
 passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2013, in a Covington Hospital.  Born October 17, 
1930 in Dekalb County, Alabama, She was a daughter of the late George Washington 
and Cleo Cain Williams.  Mrs. Wells, along with her former husband , the late 
Charles Edward Wells,  owned and operated the former Mt. View Grocery, 
later she also was a clerk for Ace Hardware and Trion Drugs.  Formerly, 
She was a member of Central Avenue Baptist Church.

Surviving are children-Joyce Wells and John Hooper of Oxford,
 GA., Rhonda Wells and Bill Coody of Lilburn, GA., Jeff and Cindy Wells 
of Trion, Cindy Wells and Don Eaton of The Colony, TX.; grandchildren-Joshua
 and Becky Hooper, Nikki and Toy Freeman, Ellen and Garrett Anglin, 
Seth and Shayna Wells, Gina and Tommy McCollum, Troy Eaton; 
great grandchildren-Madeline and Alexandra Anglin, Charlie Hooper, 
Scottie Wells, Luca McCollum; brother-Gary Williams of Rainsville, AL.; 
several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, June 27th, at 11:30 A.M.
from Graveside in West Hill Cemetery, with Minister Hugh Glaze officiating.  Active Pallbearers Garrett Anglin, Bill Coody, Reggie Fossett, John Hooper, Joshua Hooper, Tim Perry, and Tim Thompson.  The Family will receive friends Thursday from 10 until 11 A.M. at the Funeral Home.

MRS, FRANCES LOUISE SMITH, age 64, of Knollwood Circle-Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday(June 25, 2013) morning in a Rome hospital. Born in Chattooga County, Georgia on April 17, 1949, She was a daughter of the late John and Annie Belle Ponder Rosson. Mrs. Smith was Church of God by Faith and was preceded in death by her, husband , the late Jackie Eugene Smith and sisters-Esther Scruggs, McKayla Scruggs, and Katie Hawkins all died earlier.

Surviving are daughter-Mary Jane Smith of Summerville (Pennville Community); son-Anthony Eugene Smith of Summerville; brothers-Robert Rosson of Summerville, Tommy & Peggy Rosson of Lyerly, Billy Rosson and Wayne Rosson both of Summerville;

Mr. Jimmy Lee Colbert Obit (M)

Mr. Jimmy Lee Colbert, age 71, of Calhoun, GA died Monday, June 24, 2013 at

Gordon Hospital.

 

Mr. Colbert was born July 8, 1941 in Summerville, GA, the son of Jessie Lee Dooley

Colbert Penland, and the late James Douglas Colbert.  He was self-employed in construction.

 Mr. Colbert was a member of NorthPointe Church and a veteran of the United States Army.

He was a loving father and grandfather.

 

Survivors include his wife, Janet Smith Colbert; son and daughter-in-law, Derek

and Jennifer Colbert; mother, Jessie Penland; sisters, Peggy Campbell and Paulette Owens;

brother, Doug Colbert; grandchildren, Bentley Colbert, Brayden Colbert, Blair Wilkey, and

Bailey Wilkey; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p. m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 at NorthPointe Church in

Adairsville, GA with Rev. G J Chandler and Rev. Fred Painter officiating.  Interment will be

at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

 

Pallbearers will be John Groover, Allen Myers, Ronald Everett, Roy Newberry, Michael Bryson,

Tim Bryson, and Frank Vineyard.  Terry Smithson will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

 

Mr. Colbert will be in state and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p. m.

Thursday at NorthPointe Church in Adairsville, GA.

Mr. James Curtis Christopher, age 88, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at

his home.

 

Mr. Christopher was born September, 1, 1924 in Chickamauga, GA, the son of the late

Hattie Christopher.  He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mill after 62 years of employment.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.  Other than his mother, he was preceded in

death by a grandson, Bryan Christopher; sisters, Mamie Lee Dallas, Betty Christopher,

and Odelle Christopher; brothers, Bill Christopher and Mack Christopher.

 

Survivors include his son, James W. Christopher; stepsons, Anthony Christopher and

Tim Christopher; grandchild, Sandra Moseley; Nieces and Nephews; Aunts & Uncles;

and Great Nieces and Nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p. m. Thursday, June 27, 2013 from the chapel of

Mr. Carlton Lee Kitchens, age 73, of Trion, GA, died Sunday, June 23, 2013

in Trion, GA.

 

Mr. Kitchens was born November 20, 1939 in Trion, GA, the son of the late

Lee Andrew Kitchens and Grace Hill Holbrook Kitchens.  He was retired from

the Town of Trion.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.  He was a

member of Trion Masonic Lodge #160 and a charter member of Marquls

DeLafayette Daylight Lodge # 765 F&AM.  He was also a member of

I.O.O.F.-Unity Lodge #3, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Chattanooga, and the Royal

Arch Masons, Grand Chapter of GA, chapter #19.

 

Survivors include his long time companion, Margaret Stinson; children, Andy

Kitchens; Sharon Kitchens, Charlene Sanchez, Angie Edwards and husband,

Matt Edwards, and Christy Kitchens; brother, Wayne Kitchens; and 5 Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at

Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Tom Parker, Doc Tanner, and Rev. Danny

Decker officiating.  Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery with graveside

Mrs. Karen Estell Dillard Caldwell Obit (M)

Mrs. Karen Estell Dillard Caldwell, age 57 of Summerville, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Caldwell was born in Summerville, Georgia on February 14, 1955, daughter of the late Thomas Eugene Dillard, Sr. and Billie June Warren Dillard.  She was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church, and was a homemaker.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Caldwell was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Caldwell.

Mrs. Caldwell is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, John and Jackie Bell and Joseph Caldwell; two daughters and sons-in-law, April and Tyrone Tresvant and Crystal Bell and Robert Spriggs; brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Kara Dillard; grandchildren, Raphael Foster, Silas Bell, Kayla Bell, Jacob Bell, Leona Spriggs and Gianna Spriggs.

Memorial Services for Mrs. Caldwell will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. James Black officiating.

Mrs. Mamie Ruth Carroll, age 77, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Shepherd Hills Nursing and Rehab.

Mrs. Carroll was born May 5, 1936 in Dirt Town, GA, daughter of the late E. E. and Jessie Mae Fincher Winters.  She was a member of the Harrell Street Church of God, and prior to her retirement, she was employed with Riegel Textile.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Carroll was preceded in death by her brother, W. A. Winters, and sister, Evie Lee Holt.

Mrs. Carroll is survived by her husband, Charles Carroll; son, Ronnie Carroll; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and J. R. Van Gurp; brothers, Grady Winters, Charles Winters, and Raymond Winters; sisters, Sarah Duckett, Marie Broyles, Hattie Dentmon, and Mary Studdard; grandchildren, Crystle Gordon, Miranda Sumner, Jarret Van Gurp, and A. J. Van Gurp; great-grandchild, Myles Gordon; and special friend, Linda Bailey.

MRS. DORIS JEAN WHITE, age 74, of South Pine Street-Trion, Georgia passed away Thursday afternoon in a Rome hospital. She was born in Chattooga County, Georgia on December 17, 1938, a daughter of the late Willie Matt (Bill) Brown and Sarah Mae Sparks Brown. Mrs. White was a member of the United By Faith Baptist Church, a Homemaker, and was preceded in death by Her husband, the late Charles Alvin White, Sr. and a brother the late Benny S. Brown.

Surviving are daughters-Elizabeth Carol Hartline of Summerville and Sonya Mae White of Trion; son-Charles Alvin White, Jr. of Summerville; sisters-Sue Sizemore and Leila Ward both of Summerville; brother Freddie L. Brown; seven Grandchildren, fourteen Great Grandchildren, several Nieces and Nephews.

Thompson and Gladys Lorene Rogers McGuire.  He was employed by the City of Summerville as a Sanitation Worker.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by a son, Corey Thompson; brothers, Charles and Jerry Thompson; and a sister, Brenda Smith

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Sherry Elaine Broyles Thompson; a son, Billy Thompson; a daughter, Heather T. Westbrook; sisters, Gaynell Garner, Kathy Wilkerson; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Thompson; grandchildren, Brianna Westbrook, R. J. Westbrook, and Brandon Thompson; as well as several nieces and nephews.
