Mr. Michael Keith “Mike” Alexander, age, 51, of Summerville, GA died Friday February 1, 2013 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Alexander was born December 15, 1961 in Rome, GA, the son of LeRoy Alexander, JR and the late Marjorie Lee Keith Alexander. He was the former owner and operator of Shamblin Hardware. Mr. Alexander was a Member of the 1980 graduating class of the Chattooga High School, where he was a member, former captain, and voted an MVP of the football program. It was in the football program that he lettered three out of his four high school years. Mr. Alexander attended Jacksonville State and was a member of the ATO Fraternity. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Summerville, and was a member of the Summerville Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time Mr. Alexander participated and coached in the little league baseball program and loved to hunt and fish.
Survivors include his children, Ross Alexander and Kaitlyn Alexander; father, LeRoy Alexander; Kay Alexander, mother of his children; sister and brother-in-law, Tricia and Mark Headrick; special friends, Penny Ploof,Pax Busbin, Mark Weaver, and Mark Benedict.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Greg King and Rev. Tom Russell officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mark Benedict, Mark Weaver, Wilson Mann, Andy Cash, Alan Fletcher, Randy Pauley,and Phil McGuire. Honorary pallbearers will be Butch Lanier, Steve Lanier, Scott Lanier, Malcolm Birge, and all present and former members of the Summerville Fire Department.
Mr. Alexander will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p. m. Saturday, February 2, 2013.
Mrs. Tressie Eloise Estus, age 71 of Davis Road, Trion, GA passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 in Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Estus was born August 26, 1941 in Trion, GA. She was a member of the Bethel Memorial Baptist Church, was retired from Mount Vernon Mills where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club, and was a member of Senior Citizens Center.
Mrs. Estus was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Paul Estus; and her father and mother, Judson P. and Monteal Dooley Williams.
Mrs. Estus is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Theresa and Greg Latta and Debra and Michael Taylor ofTrion, GA and Marcella and Jose Cabrera of Trenton, GA; her grandchildren, Andy Latta, Ben Latta, Philip Cabrera, Nina Cabrera, and Faith Grace Cabrera; great-grandson, Knox Latta; brother and his wife, Judson and Glenda Williams of Texas.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Bud Marteen and Rev. Marc Williams officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. Tressie Eloise Estus will be Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m.
Pallbearers will be the following gentlemen and they are asked to assemble at the funeral home on the day of the service by 10:30 a.m., Steve Keith, Kirk Estus, Don Estus, Steve Blevins, Mark Cothran, and Jamie Mitchell. MR. DEFOREST SCOTT- AGE 72, Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. and Helen Knox Scott, Sr. and one brother, Thomas C. Scott, Jr. He was a member of Hemphill A.M.E. Church.
Survivors are one daughter, Racquel (Dennis) Johnson of Bremen, Georgia; step daughter, Nischa Daniel of Summerville, Georgia; two sisters, Mary Helen Underwood of Siginaw, Michigan and Frances Reeves of Riverdale, Georgia; one brother, Robert Scott of Chattanooga, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Jamie Johnson, Kalia Johnson, Zharia Johnson, Nia Johnson, Kendrick Daniel, Eddie Farmer, Jr., Jimmy Reese, Jr., and Amaya Reese; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

REV. JACK H. RICHARDSON, age 88, of Trion, Georgia, passed away Monday, January 28, 2013, at his residence. Born in Gillette, Wyoming on January 14, 1925, He was a son of the late Bert E. and Johnnie Eugenia Hair Richardson.
At an early age Rev. Richardson moved to Dalton, Georgia, attended Whitfield County Schools, and served in the U. S. Navy during WW II. He was graduated from Truitt-McConnell University, in Georgia, and Southern Seminary in Louisville, Ky. He was a Minister of the Gospel having pastored the following Baptist Churches Mountaintown in Ellijay, Hill City in Calhoun, Doug Gap in Dalton, Tunnel Hill in Tunnel Hill, McConnell Memorial in Hiawassee, and Elk Creek in Taylorsville, KY.
Rev. Richardson retired from the Georgia Baptist Convention, in 1992, having served Chattooga, Whitfield, and Memorial Associations as Missionary for 20 years. He was a member, Deacon, choir member, and teacher/organizer of the Seekers Sunday School Class of Trion First Baptist Church.
Surviving are His wife, Jean E. Richardson; daughters & spouses-Amy and Dale Cruse of Dalton and Annie Marie and Chet Hollomon of Rome; grandchildren-Tyler Cruse, Richard Lewis, Amy Sarah Lewis; great grandchildren-William Lewis and Piper Lewis; sisters-Jean Hogsehead of Dalton, Frances Silvey of Ringgold, Carol Hammond, Decatur, TN, and Pat Toland of Sanford, FL; brother-Harold Richardson of Jacksonville, FL; several Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. from the Trion First Baptist Church with Dr. Floyd Roebuck and Dr. Warren Moorhead officiating, interment in West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Billy Trey Walters, III, age 22, of Mentone, AL died Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Riverview Medical Center.
Mr. Walters was born September 22, 1990 in Fort Oglethorpe, GA, the son of Billy Charles Walters, JR and Rebecca Ann Hardin Walters. He had worked at Walters Construction.
Survivors include his father, Billy Charles Walters, JR, Mother, Rebecca Ann Hardin Walters; sister, Jessica Walters Ponder; brothers, Gordon Ray Walters and Gunner Walters.
Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Perennial Springs Cemetery with Rev. Billy Wright officiating. Active pallbearers will be Jeff Dotson, Ethan Harrison, Aaron Strickland, Brent Smith and Brandon Ponder.

MRS. MYRTIS MARTHA SHIPP FITZPATRICK, age 89, of Ramsey Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday evening in the local nursing home. A native of LaFayette, Georgia She was born to the late Rev. W. H. Swift and Effie Greer Swift on October 2, 1923. Mrs. Fitzpatrick was retired from the weaving department of Pepperell Mills and a member of Berryton Church of God. She was preceded in death by first husband-the late Ray Shipp and second husband the late Shields Fitzpatrick, a daughter-the late Terresa Green, grandson-the late Joey Green, three Brothers and two Sisters also preceded Her.
Surviving are daughter-Anita Johnston; granddaughters-Rhonda Wofford & Pam Green; sisters-Gladys Crowe of Rossville and Margie Oaks of Rome; grandson-Marty Green; great granddaughters-Brittany Rhinehart & Marti Green; great grandson-Brody Lathem; several Nieces and Nephews.

Mrs. Johnnie Mae Tucker, age 91, of Trion, GA died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at her residence.
Mrs. Tucker was born July 10, 1921 in Rockwood, TN, the daughter of the late Gettie and Hettie Mae Blankenship Evans . She was a homemaker. Mrs. Tucker was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis Marshall Tucker, Sr., son Marshal Tucker, Jr., daughter Cathleen Tucker Lapsley, son, Ronnie Leon Tucker.
