MS. ELLA LOUISE ADAMS- Age 79, Of Menlo, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Floyd Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Louise Almond, brothers, Billy Almond, Tommie Almond, children, Cleveland Brown, Willie D. Adams, and Linda Gurley.

Survivors are her children, John (Leslie) Adams of Menlo, Georgia, Deborah Adams of Summerville, Georgia, Rick (Jackie) Adams of Harrisburg, North Carolina, and Cristel (Eli) Bonds of Cartersville, Georgia. A host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2012 at 1:00 P. M. at AMI Cemetery in Menlo, Georgia. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P. M. at Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church in Menlo, Georgia.

Mr. Charles William “Chuck” Porter, age 51, of Menlo, GA, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Porter was born February 23, 1961, in Miami, Fl the son of Patricia Joan McGraw Campbell and the late Charles Alfred Porter. He had worked for Padgett Trucking as a truck driver. He attended Cedar Chapel Church.

Survivors include mother, Patricia Joan McGraw Campbell, brothers, Jerry Porter, Tom Porter, special friend, Brenda Guffey.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday February 20, 2013, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Mason officiating with interment to follow in the Lyerly Cemetery. Miss Clara Jane Johnson, age 78, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday February 15, 2013, at the Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.

Miss Johnson was born July 26, 1934, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Lyle and Pluma Fletcher Johnson. She was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church of Summerville, a retired RN having worked at Georgia Baptist Hospital for 37 years, and Floyd Medical Center for 10 years.  Miss Johnson was preceded in death by sisters, Qunnie Johnson, Sara Johnson Lewis, brother, Lyle Johnson, JR, nephew, Jimmy Lewis.

Survivors include special niece Johnnie Lewis, nieces,  Kay Johnson, Devita Johnson, great-nieces, Kimberly Lewis Hanson, Cristy Humble, Kelly Wamsley, Melissa Johnson, Brooke Barden, Dylan Johnson,  nephews, Marris Johnson, Harold Johnson, great-nephews,  Clifton Lewis, Wesley McConnell, Michael Hogan, 10 great-great nieces and nephews sister-in-law, Juanita Johnson Hogan.

Mr. Ivan Bruce Weevie, age 80, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Weevie was born October 4, 1932 in Rushville, IN, the son of the late Raymond Jack and Nellie Fox Weevie. Mr. Weevie was a graduate of Inidana School For The Blind. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mr. Weevie was a past member of Chattooga County Civil Defense, the C B Club, where his handle was Bicycle Red, and the Odd Fellows of Indianapolis, IN. He was a member of the Chattooga Council of the Blind, North Georgia Talking Book Club, and the Chattooga County Historical Society. He was retired from Harriett and Henderson Cotton Mill , where he had worked for 47 years. He loved to fish, cane chairs, and listen to his short wave radio. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Patsy Posey Weevie; son, Joseph Weevie; brother, Russell Weevie; and a sister, Nellie Fox

Survivors include his son, Randy Weevie and Lynn Lewis; and a brother, Charlie Weevie, Lynn, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ed Skoretz officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Mrs. Louise Brown Dillard, age 91, of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday February 10, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Dillard was born August 23, 1921, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late Stonewall Jackson Brown and Mattie Jane Sprayberry Brown. She graduated from Summerville High School in 1940. She was the salutatorian of her class. She lettered in basketball for four years, serving as team captain her senior year. She was a well respected charter member of Wayside Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many decades. She was employed by the Farmers and Merchants Bank/BB&T for approximately 50 years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dillard was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan Dillard, seven sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Ivan(Sonny) Dillard and Linda Reynolds Dillard, grandchildren, James Matthew Dillard and Gina Adams, great-grandchildren, Ethan Crider, Bailey Dillard, Mia Crider; nieces, Louise Brown Helton, Margaret Dillard, nephews, Rex Cook, Gary Hinton, special cousin Phyllis Howell, and a number of great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, February 14, 2013 at the Wayside Baptist Church with Rev. Don Knowles and Rev. Mike Odom officiating. Mrs. Dillard will also lie in state at the church from 1:30 until the hour of service on Thursday. Burial will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

MR. MELL R. SMITH, age 87, of Conyers, Georgia, formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013, in Conyers, following a sudden event. A native of Chattanooga, Tennessee, He was born to the late L.F. and Maude Bennett Smith on March 2, 1925. Mr. Smith attended the Summerville First Presbyterian Church PCA, was a Veteran of the U.S. Army Infantry serving in WW II, where He was awarded the Purple Heart, and was retired engineer for Midwest Operating Engineers. He was preceded in death by first wife the late Leola T. Smith and a son, the late Raymond Taylor Smith.

Surviving are His wife-Nelda Padgett Smith; grandchildren-Matthew Smith of Memphis, TN. and Katheryn Ann Smith of Jonesboro, ARK.; step daughter-Debbie Gayler of Conyers; sister-Shirley Crane of Menlo; several Nieces and Nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Greg King officiating, interment in Summerville Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Funeral Home Wednesday from 10:00 A. M. until the hour of service.

Mrs. Ada Mae Rosser Bridges Morgan passed from this life in the wee hours of Saturday morning (2/9/13) at her residence. She was 95 years of age. Mrs. Morgan was born on May 8, 1917 in Jackson's Hollow at a place where Chattooga County meets Floyd County. A daughter of the late George Lee and Bessie White Rosser, she was very proud of her ancestors who were early settlers to Chattooga County. She was named for her grandmother, Ada Hudgins White. With the exception of one year spent near Waycross, Georgia as a child, she was a lifelong resident of Chattooga County. Joining shortly after its charter, Mrs. Morgan was a member of the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church for almost 80 years. She attended church activities regularly until the age of 90 and at her death was the oldest member of the church. She was married to Joe Henry Bridges in Chattooga County on December 24, 1933. After Mr. Bridges' death, she married Gilbert A. Morgan in Dade County, Georgia on January 23,1982. Having been employed at the Trion Company in the Glove Mill, she was retired from Harriett & Henderson Yarns, Inc. in Berryton. She also worked for a time at Advance Glove in Rome, Georgia. She was formerly an active member of the Home Demonstration Club in the Little Sand Mountain Community. She was a three-time cancer survivor. She took solo trips to Florida until the age of 80; and drove her car until the age of 90. She also enjoyed church activities, ceramics, cooking, gardening, family history, flowers-especially her "Old Maids", quilting, traveling, and activities of the North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation. She was loved by all that knew

her, but she was especially adored by her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her

husband, Mrs. Morgan is preceded in death by her siblings: Annie Bell Bishop, Rose Murdock, Ballenger Rosser, Frances Rosser, Frank Rosser, John Rosser, Milton Rosser, and Helen Satterfield.

Mrs. Morgan is survived by a host of relatives. Survivors include her children: Jerry (Sue) Bridges, Summerville; Patty Shepherd, Gainesville, Florida; and Ted Bridges, Leesburg, Alabama. Mrs. Morgan is also survived by six grandchildren: Bambi Bridges, Menlo; Barry (Pam) Bridges, Summerville; Ben (Sylvia) Bridges, Macon, Georgia; Betsy (Kevin) Hayes, Summerville; Angie Keen, Earleton, Florida; and Chris (Leslie) Shepherd, Melrose, Florida. She is survived by 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and former daughter-in-law, Carol Ann Bridges.  She is also survived by siblings: Hilda (Bob) Reynolds, Lyerly; Josephine Baggett, Rome, Georgia; and Paul Rosser, Summerville. Gratitude is expressed to her special friend and caregiver, Marie Henderson; caregiver, Bridget Iwens; caregiver, Carolyn Blackmon; caregiver, Sharon Hughes; and to the entire SolAmor Hospice Staff. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 11, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Earle Rainwater Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted in the Little Sand Mountain Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. The services will be conducted by Ben Bridges and the Reverend Ricky Studdard. Mrs. Dorothy (Polly) Norton, age 78, of Summerville, GA, passed away Sunday February 10, 2013 in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center. Mrs. Norton was born November 3, 1934, in Centre, AL, the daughter of the late Irby and Lucille Smith Abernathy. She was a home maker and a former employee of the Montgomery Knitting Mill. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, George Tomlin, 2nd husband Walter Norton, son, Edward Tomlin, brothers, David and Junior Abernathy.

Survivors include her nieces and care givers, Trish Rich, Kathy Terry, Judy Slaughter, Kayla Warren, Tonya Dawson, Melinda Clark, and a nephew, Tim Abernathy, earthly angels, Amanda Miller, Katrina Kirby, special friend, Robert Chaney.

Mr. Daniel L. (Danny) Coker, age 79, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Saturday February 9, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Coker was born September 23, 1933, in Shannon, GA, the son of the late William R. and Willie Johnson Coker. He was a retired Chief Petty Officer having served in the U.S. Navy during Korea and Vietnam conflicts.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Elanie Hartline Coker, son, Gary Coker, daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Troy Lewis, 4 grandchildren, Michael Coker, Melanie Gautreau, Eric Sparks, Tonya Sparks, and 9 great-grandchildren

Mrs Nancy Evelyn Thomas, age 72 of Trion Highway, Trion, GA passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at her residence.  Mrs. Thomas was born March 14, 1940 in Trion, GA.  She was retired from Wal-Mart and was a member of the Trion United Methodist Church.
