Mrs. Myrtice Elaine Hendrix Obit (M)

On November 21, 2012 God took Mrs. Myrtice Elaine Hendrix Jackson, age 64, of Summerville, GA home to be with him.

Mrs. Jackson was born July 13, 1948 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late Joseph Terry Greene and Annie Gwin Crider Greene. She was a member of Trion Heights Baptist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by 6 brothers, Lloyd Greene, Leonard Greene, Scott Lee Greene, Russell Fay Greene, Wayne Greene, and Donnie Greene; and 2 sisters, Marie Thomas and Barbara Harris.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, LeBron and Marsha Hendrix, Dalton, GA; a daughter, Renee Brown, LaFayette, GA; a sister, Eula Story; 4 Grandchildren, Christopher, Adam, Devon, and Logan; and special friends, Nellie Wilbanks, Martha Oliver, Rhonda Levine, and Pam Powell.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Ladies Sunday School Class of Trion Heights Baptist Church.

Mrs. Jackson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Friday.

Mrs. Joyce Luvella Arden Obit (EP)

Mrs. Joyce Lavella Arden, age 85 of Sunrise Circle, Trion, GA passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.  Mrs. Arden was born March 27, 1927 in Chattanooga, TN.  She was retired from Best Manufacturing and was Baptist by faith.

 Mrs. Arden was preceded in death by husband, Clyde Arden; father and mother, Clarence W. and Hazel Eller Suits; and brother, Franklin D. Suits.

 Mrs. Arden is survived by brothers, William J. Suits of Palm Coast, FL and James D. Suits of Homestead, FL; nephews, Phil Bacon of Chattanooga, TN and Ken Arden; 3 brothers and 1 sister also survives.

Graveside and Interment services will be Friday, November 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.  Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery.

 Visitation will be Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Mr. Ray Allen Millican

Mr. Ray Allen Millican, age 80, of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Floyd Medical Center.

 Mr. Millican was born in Cedar Bluff, Alabama on December 14, 1931, son of the late Charlie Duke Millican and Allie Ann Robinson Millican.  He was retired from Glove Mill.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Millican was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Millican and sister, Helen Kilgo.

Mr. Millican is survived by his sister, Vivian Millican, brother, Charles Millican.

Graveside and interment services for Mr. Millican will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Tom Russell and Rev. Talmadge Barnes officiating.

Mrs. Mattie Ann Christopher 87 of Summerville passed away Sunday at Oak View Nursing Home…She was a member of the West Fifth Street Church of Christ. survivors include her husband Curtis Christopher, stepson James Christopher of Summerville, nieces, nephews and a special nephew Charles Stewart of Atlanta, a host of devoted great nieces, nephews, cousins and other relative also survive,,,Services will be held Saturday at 1PM at the West Fifth Street Church of Christ with Bro. Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Hamby Thomas, age 85, of Summerville, GA, Passed away Saturday November 17, 2012, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Mrs. Thomas was born August 28, 1927, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of Hugh and Margaret Wofford Hamby. She was retired from Best Mfg, a member of the Trion United Methodist Church, the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class, the United Methodist Women, the Triple LLL Club, and preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Levi Thomas, sisters, Peg Tate Hogg, and Nelle Adamson.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Doug Wilson, grandchildren, Liz and Stefan Hoglund, Darren Mitchell, Joan and Michael Graham, Amber Browning, Douglas Wilson, great-grandchildren, Claire Lindsey, Murphy Browning, Sydnie Hoglund, Wil and Tristan Graham, Addison Wilson, sisters, Hugh Belle Tucker, Joyce Hogg, Jane Stokes, brothers, Edwin Hamby, Jerry Hamby, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Durward Pettit Obit (EP)

Durward Leon Petitt age 85, of Mahan Road, Summerville, GA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 16, 2012.  Mr. Petitt was born January 3, 1927 in Whitfield County, GA.  He was a Veteran of the United State Army having served in WW II. 

 Mr. Petitt was a graduate of the Gupton-Jones Mortuary College and  was the  President of Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home having acquired the funeral home in 1969.  He was in the Funeral Service for 66 years.  Mr. Petitt was a member of New Antioch Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon for 51 years, a member of Chattooga Lodge, Yaarab Shrine & Chattooga Shrine, and American Legion Post # 129.

Mr. Petitt was preceded in death by daughters, Rhonda Wells and Sandra Petitt; father and mother, Troy Leon Petitt and Gaudie Mae Petitt; sister, Vera Thompson; and brother, Bob Petitt.

Survivors are wife of 65 years, Ruby Petitt; son, Dana Petitt;, daughter, Renia Miller; and son-in-law, Larry Wells; grandchildren, Jeff Richardson, Anthony Richardson, Julie Becker, Travis Petitt, Yvette Hauck, Daera Wells, Natashia Dover, and Chad Miller; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Martha Higgins and Charlotte Dooley; and brothers, Harmon Petitt and Billy Petitt.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Helton, Rev. Waydell Howell, and Rev. Ken Johnson officiating.  Music will be by Waymon Blansit, Harold and Brenda Helton, and Billy Petitt.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Edward Monroe Lively, age 62, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday November 15, 2012, at the Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lively was born June 20, 1950, in Summerville, GA, the son of the late Howard and Evie Lee Robins Lively.  He was a house painter and was preceded in death by a son, Jason Lively, brother, Steve Lively, and a sister, Yvonne Lively.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Lively, daughters, Mendy Edgeworth, and Teresa Smallwood; stepchildren, Janice Hankins, Rodney Lewis, and Kathy Ward, sister, Nancy Chambers, 10 grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Mason Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Brown and Rev. David Pettyjohn officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Jerry Wayne Boyd, JR, age 44, of Summerville, GA died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from injuries received in a log truck accident.
 
Mr. Boyd was born July 8, 1968 in Trion, GA, the son of Jerry Wayne Boyd, SR
and Shirley Deloris Long Boyd.  Mr. Boyd was employed with Dalrymple
Trucking.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was an avid Nascar fan and
he loved the Georgia Bulldogs.  He loved driving a log truck with his loyal
dog, C B.  His favorite pass time was spending time with his two sons and his
“Princess” of a granddaughter, Jayla Elizabeth Boyd.
 
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Tammie Boyd; sons, Jamie Wayne Boyd and
Zachery Thomas Boyd; granddaughter, Jayla Elizabeth Boyd; parents, Jerry
Boyd, SR and Shirley Deloris Boyd; sister and brother-in-law, Amanda Dalrymple and Michael Bumbalough; brothers and sisters-in-law, R. C. and Jennifer Boyd, Stacy and Holly Boyd, Randy and Tracy Dalrymple, Andy and Kerrie Dalrymple;
