Mr. Deforest Eugene Hogg

Mr. Deforest Eugene Hogg, age 86, of Summerville, GA died Sunday, November 4, 2012 at Floyd Medical Center.

 Mr. Hogg was born May 30, 1926, the son of the late Marcus Judson Hogg and Maggie Thomas Hogg.  He was retired from the United States Army with 10 years of service, the United States Air Force, with 12 years of service and was retired from the Civil Service. Mr. Hogg served in WWII, Vietnam, and Korea.  Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kazue “Betty” Hogg; his second wife, Violet Lee Hamby Tate Hogg; sister, Madelyn Young; and brothers, Hugh Hogg and James Thomas “Tom” Hogg.

 Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gil Takemori; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Mike Lanier; brother, Morris Hogg; grandchildren, Madeline Takemori and Nathan Takemori; special friends, Shirley Pope and Thomas Cole; nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Memorial services will be held at 7:30 p. m. Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Macedonia Chapel at Camp Hamby with Rev. Neale Lanigan officiating.

Burial will be in Sanger Cemetery in Sanger, California.

 The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p. m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at the Main Cabin of Camp Hamby.

Mrs. Carolyn Jeanette Shore

Mrs. Carolyn Jeanette Shore, age 84, of Trion, Georgia passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at her residence. Mrs. Shore was born in Trion, Georgia on September 4, 1928, daughter of the late Roy Dow Clifton and Lilly Belle Barnett Clifton.  She was a retired salesperson with Stanley Home Products.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shore was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Zell Shore; son, Cliff Shore; sister, Margaret Clifton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dee Troy and Johnnie Bean Clifton and Roy Zell Clifton, Jr. and Oleeta “Little Head” Clifton.

Mrs. Shore is survived by a sons and daughter-in-law, Dow and Kelley Shore and Montage Choate; 2 grandchildren, Breann Shore and Brittany Helms; a great granddaughter, Heaven Helms; special cousin, Marie Jones; special friends, Louise Tapp and Jim and Reba Long; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Shore will be held Thursday, November 8, 2012 at 6:00 PM in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. John Leatherwood officiating.

 Mrs. Shore will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 4 until 6 PM.

 The family is accepting flower, however, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Charles Michael Wright Obit (M)

Mr. Charles Michael Wright, age 57, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday November 2, 2012, in Kindred Hospital. Mr. Wright was born March 21, 1955, in Marietta, GA, the son of Margaret Ann Brackett Wright and the late Charles Lee Wright.

Survivors include his wife, Reta Faye Scoggins Wright, mother, Margaret Ann Abernathy, daughters, Amy Abernathy, Kristy Reynolds, Bobbie Jo Wright, brother, Charles Lee Wright, II, and 3 grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday November 6, 2012 from the Subligna Cemetery with Brother Darrell Golden officiating with burial in Subligna Cemetery. Miss Margaret Faye Bailey Obit (EP)

Miss Margaret Faye Bailey, age 69 of Oak Street, Trion, GA passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 at Floyd Medical Center.  Miss Bailey was born in Trion, GA on February 22, 1943.  She was retired from Crawford-Long Hospital in Atlanta and was a member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church.

Miss Bailey was preceded in death by her father, Roy Bailey; brother, Duard Bailey; and nephew, Allen Bailey.

Miss Bailey is survived by her mother, Burma Bethune Bailey of Summerville, GA and several cousins.

Funeral Services will be Monday, November 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon  Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Monday, November 5, 2012 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Pallbearers will be Barry Hammond, Clete Holzer, Jason Taylor, Tim Harrison, Dennis Bethune, and Verlon Bethune.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the Ladies of the Trion Heights Baptist Church.

Mrs. Barbara Smith Brannon

Mrs. Barbara Smith Brannon, age 75, of Allen, Texas, formerly of Jamestown, AL, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Presbyterian Allen Hospital.

 Mrs. Brannon was born in Lafayette, Georgia on October 23, 1937, daughter of the late William Henry Smith and Blanche Estelle Evans Smith.  She had attended the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Jamestown and prior to retirement was a Bookkeeper for Sears, JC Penney and the Gulf Oil Company.  Mrs. Brannon was preceded in death by her husband, James Marvin Brannon; grandchildren, Garrett Brannon and Collin Brannon; and a sister, Henrietta Fitzpatrick.

 Mrs. Brannon is survived by her daughters, Tina Brannon of Allen, TX and Linda Brannon Franklin of Tuscaloosa, AL; brothers, Maurice Smith of Jamestown and Roger Smith of Locust Grove, GA; grandchildren, Ty Franklin, Gavin Brannon, Jameson Brannon and Ian Brannon; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 Funeral Services for Mrs. Brannon will be held Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Close officiating.  Interment will follow in the Moseley Cemetery.

 Pallbearers will be Thom Fitzpatrick, Mike Smith, Mark Smith, Lee Smith, Tim Smith and Brian Lackey.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Ty Franklin and Gavin Brannon.

Mrs. Nera Bell Bailey Obit (M)

Mrs. Nera Bell Bailey, age 88, of Menlo, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at a Walker County Healthcare center.
 
Mrs. Bailey was born in Summerville, Georgia on April 2, 1924, daughter of the late Henry Guy Pickle and Vera Alafore Cox Pickle.  She was a member of the Berryton Bible Mission and was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosemary Howard; great grandson, Alex Jenkins, brothers, Paul Fay Pickle, Hugh McDonald Pickle and William Henry Pickle; and a sister, Grace Williams.
 
Mrs. Bailey is survived by her husband, Bobby Ray Bailey; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Edward Elrod, Jr. and Phyllis Elrod; daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Leonard Schrader, Lynda and William Cochran, Darla and JD Schrader and Susan Hampton; brother, Franklin Eugene Pickle; sister, Buel Hawkins; 13 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, a special friend, Mike Cooper and a number of nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bailey will be held Friday, November 2, 2012 at 4:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Rutledge officiating.  Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Methodist Church Cemetery.
 
Pallbearers will be Todd Spears, Daniel Driver and Rickey Stoker.
