Mrs. Martha Ann Kinsey Teems, age 81, of Summerville, GA, died Sunday, September 7, 2025, at her residence.

Mrs. Teems was born May 7, 1944, in Marianna, FL, daughter of the late Bun and Maida Lou Sasser Kinsey. She was a member of Fisher’s Chapel Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Sears.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Owens.

Survivors include her husband, Ray Teems; son, Jason (Dena) Teems; daughter, Emily (Mike) Gaddis; brother, James Earl Kinsey; sisters, Betty Ward and Gail Atkins; grandchildren, Olivia Ann Headrick Bearden, Jordan Ray Hughes, Sarah Wilson, Meghan Herbel, Mikey Willingham, and Andrea Croft; and several great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Fisher’s Chapel Church Pastor Bruce Owens and Pastor Mike White officiating.

Donald Richard “Don” Wright, Obit (C)

Mr. Donald Richard “Don” Wright, age 78 of Trion, Georgia passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025 at his residence.

Mr. Wright was born in Trion, Georgia on April 14, 1947, son of the late Toby Rufus Wright and Geraldine Savannah Waters Hall. He was a member of the Pennville Baptist Church and was a retired carpenter with the Carpenter’s Local #225 out of Atlanta. He was also a member of the International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA) and was a rough back rider for over 17 years.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Wright and a sister, Judy Becker.

Mr. Wright is survived by his son, Shawn Wright; sister, Mary Tripp; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Memorial Services for Mr. Wright will be held Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Tina Ann Jennings, age 52 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025 at her residence.

Tina was born in Summerville, Georgia on September 16, 1972, daughter of Betty Ruth Williamson Jennings and James Lamar Jennings. She had been employed as a creeler with Mt. Vernon Mills and was of the Baptist Faith. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her grandchildren. Tina was preceded in death by an infant son, Perry Lee Fowler; daughter, Kayla Leann Jennings; sister, Regina Smith and a niece, Samantha Smith.

Tina is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Nickola and James Shropshire; sons and daughters-in-law, Alex and Katlyn Jennings and Johnathan and Katie Blackmon; mother, Betty Jennings(Gary Bailey); father, Lamar(Reba) Jennings; brother, Phillip Jennings; sister, Susan Jennings Davis; grandchildren, Gabe, Brayden, Paisley, Aubrey, Gracelyn, Isabella, Coven, Naomi and Bentley; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral Services for Tina will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Rickey Biddle officiating. Private interment may follow at a later date.

Mrs. Sheila Dale Scoggins Mitchell, age 74, of Trion, GA, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, at her daughter’s residence.

Mrs. Mitchell was born September 1, 1951, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Willie Roy Scoggins and Effie Mae Dunlap Cox. She was a member of the Harrell Street Church of God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Scoggins; grandmother, Elena Dixon; aunt, Linda Ross; uncles Calvin Dunlap and Robert Owens.

Survivors include her husband, Richard Mitchell; sons, Shannon (Dianna) Scoggins, David (Katie) Mitchell, Jeffery (Jenny) Mitchell; daughters, Sabrina (Randy) Jones, Cherrie Scoggins; a brother, Charles “Sonny” (JoAnn) Scoggins; a sister, Janice Blackmon; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, September 7, 2025, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lamont Kiser officiating. Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Mrs. Rita Kay Treadaway, age 63 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Monday, September 1, 2025 at the residence of her son in Lafayette.

Mrs. Treadaway was born in Summerville, Georgia on January 24, 1962, daughter of the late Eddie Lee “Humpy” Tapp and Nina Mae Timmons Tapp. She was a member of the Solid Rock Baptist Church and was a homemaker. Mrs. Treadaway never met a stranger. She loved to make people laugh, loved music and singing, especially gospel, but her favorite activity was spending time with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Treadaway was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Wayne Treadaway; brother, Eddie Ray Tapp; and sisters, Ruth Bryan and Doris Shelton.

Mrs. Treadaway is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Amanda Treadaway; daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Brian Saylors and Rachel and Robert Brown; sisters and brothers-in-law, Net and Ronald Collins, Tammy White and Cindy and Tracey Carter; brothers and sister-in-law, Troy and Patricia Tapp, Roger Tapp and Larry Tapp; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and a number of nieces and nephews.

Evelyn Ruth DeLay, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Lafayette, Georgia, Evelyn spent her later years in Centre, Alabama, where she built a life rooted in love, resilience, and quiet grace.

She was the beloved daughter of Clyde Bartlett of Menlo, GA, and Flora Allen of Dalton, GA, both of whom preceded her in death. Evelyn carried their values of strength, kindness, and perseverance throughout her life.

Evelyn dedicated over 30 years of service to Shaw Industries, where she was admired for her unwavering commitment, strong work ethic, and the warmth she extended to everyone around her.

She was married to Raymond Delay for nearly 20 years, a bond just five months shy of that milestone. Their relationship was one of deep companionship, laughter, and mutual respect—a partnership that brought joy and strength to both their lives.

Evelyn was the proud mother of Tina Carroll Thompson (spouse Bobby Thompson) of Cedartown, GA; Dwight L. Carroll III (spouse Jenny) of Lafayette, GA; Joseph Delay (spouse Laura) of Trion, GA; and Raymond Delay Jr. of Dalton, GA. She was lovingly known by many names—Maw, Momma, Granny, and Mimi—each a reflection of the special place she held in the hearts of her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She is also remembered as a cherished sister. Evelyn was preceded in death by her sisters Linda Adolphson and Joyce Ellison, and is survived by her sister Sandy Corbin of Menlo, GA, who continues to carry forward the bond they shared.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Mason Funeral Home in Summerville, GA, with Reverend Carlton Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Johnston Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Hunter Thompson, Dennis Smith, Wade Smith, Joey Delay, Lucas Delay, and Carlton Dunn—each honoring Evelyn with their presence and love.

Evelyn will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) until the hour of service on Thursday.
Evelyn’s journey was marked by quiet strength, enduring love, and a deep sense of purpose. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Mr. James Lamar Dover, age 78, of Menlo, GA, died Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Pruitt Healthcare LaFayette.

Mr. Dover was born August 21, 1947, in Summerville, GA, son of the late James Leroy Dover and Thelma Lucindia Smith Dover. He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills. Mr. Dover was also a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean Conflict.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Dover was preceded in death by a son, Brian Lamar Dover; and a brother, Jimmy Leon Dover.

Survivors include his wife, Becky Dover; sisters, Ann Shuler and Brenda Dover; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Gordon Douglas McCollum, age 91, of the Gore Community, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mr. McCollum was born October 29, 1933, son of the late William Pharr McCollum and Nellie Lee Gordon McCollum. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, but had most recently attended Howards Chapel of Mentone, AL. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with General Electric.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Jennie Langston McCollum; and a brother, Thomas C. McCollum.

Survivors include his son, Jimmy (Lillian) McCollum; daughter, Judy (Jeff) Mosher; grandchildren, Ian (Gabi) McCollum, Wes (Cara) Love, and Aaron McCollum; great-grandchildren, Rhett Love and Callum McCollum.

Graveside and interment services for Mr. McCollum will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Chris Murdock officiating. Mr. Hurst was born in Ider, Alabama on August 27, 1945, son of the late Andrew Hurst and Mary Lee Holland Hurst. He was a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the maintenance department of Shaw Industries. Mr. Hurst enjoyed gardening, piddling, and going to Trade Day, but his favorite activity was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Elton Crane; brother, Jimmy Hurst and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Hurst.

Mr. Hurst is survived by his wife, Sharon D. LT. COL. RETIRED BUDDY LEE PARKER, age 81, of McDonough, Georgia, formerly of Summerville, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, in the local nursing home. A native of Summerville, Georgia, He was born to the late Robert and Lillian Butler Parker on February 22, 1944. He was a member of the Union Grove Baptist Church, McDonough, Georgia and Retired Lt. Col. U. S. Army after his service of 25 years and Veteran of Viet Nam War. Buddy worked for the Georgia State Medical Examiners Board for 10 years. He Loved hunting, fishing, going to yard sales and collecting fishing rods. He was the Lead Bird Hunter at The Burge Club in Mansfield Georgia.

Surviving are his daughter, Kelli (David) Luxemburger; granddaughters, Rory Luxemburger and Emma Luxemburger; sisters, Jean Spivey and JoAnn Dempsey; brother, Larry Parker; girlfriend, Wanda Groover; his hunting dogs, J.J., Jake, Joe, Rex, Rip, Rap, Lady, Suzie; several nieces and nephews also survive.
