Mrs. Elsie Lee Wooten Obit

Mrs. Elsie Lee Terhune Wheeler Wooten, age 73, 0f Cedar Bluff, AL died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Wooten was born March 5, 1937 in Floyd County, GA, the daughter of the late LaDell and Grace Cagle Terhune. She was formerly employed with People Telephone Company. Mrs. Wooten loved traveling with her husband and playing cards with many of her friends, but what she love most was her precious dog, Butch. Other than her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Juanita Terhune and a brother, Archie L. Terhune.

She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years, Marvin "Bud" Wooten; son Tony Wheeler; Cedar Bluff, AL; stepchildren, Tina Louise and Jonathan Hayes and Marvin "Bud" and Jackie Wooten; step daughter-in-law, Susan Tanner; grandchildren, Chance Wheeler, Kayla Wheeler, Jonathan Wooten, Katie Beth Wooten, Jay Lee Rutherford, and Sam Rutherford; step-granddaughter, A. J. Wooten, great grandchildren, Dawson Allen Wheeler and Brianna Grace Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m (EST) on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Henry Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in Weiss Lake Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Richard Camp, Todd Mason , Kip Wooten, Brad Mason, Scott Woodall, and Dennis Mason. Honorary pallbearers will be Martha Ann House, Linda Faye Finch, Glenda Williams, and Juanita Tarpley.

Mrs. Wooten will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. (EST) Tuesday, February 15, 2011. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital.

Mr. Evan Deforrest Bowman Obit

MR. EVAN DEFORREST BOWMAN, age 82, of Whitley Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 12, 2011, evening at his residence. He was born on October 7, 1928 in Chattooga County, Georgia, a son of the late Robert Loren Bowman, Sr. and Mildred Foye Powell Bowman,. Mr. Bowman enjoyed Golf, played in the Textile League Softball, and for several years coached Little League Baseball. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a Veteran of WW II serving in the U. S. Marines, and was retired District Accounting Supervisor for Georgia Power Company. Mr. Bowman was preceded in death by his brother the late Robert L. Bowman, Jr. on October 9, 2010.

Surviving are His wife Doris Bowman; daughter-Becky Burns of Rome; sons and daughters-in-law-Randy & Kay Bowman and Tim & Suzann Bowman all of Summerville; grandchildren-Kyle Bowman, Haley Bowman, Kelsey Bowman, Jennifer Bowman, Jacob Bowman, & Will Bowman; great grandchildren-Madison Rogers, Talen Carruthers, & Noah Bowman.

Funeral service will be held Monday, February 14th, at 1:00 P.M. from Graveside in Greenhills Memory Garden with Rev. Danny Decker officiating. Active Pallbearers Randy Bowman, Tim Bowman, Kyle Bowman, Jacob Bowman, Will Bowman, and Brandon Gurley.

Preacher Wayne Christian Obit

Preacher Wayne Christian, age 80, of Menlo, GA, passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011 at his residence.

Preacher Christian was born November 17, 1930, in Quenton, OK, the son of the late Sidney Ralph and Bonnie Dobson Christian. He was a retired U.S. Navy Chaplain, and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Thelma Jane Garis Christian, sons, Billy W. Christian, David C. Christian, Ricky G. Christian, brother, Bud Christian, sisters, Sue Kimbrel, Travis Garrett, Jean Sherill, grandchildren, Alana Christian Garrett, Tyler Christian, Karen Hurley, and Rick Hurley.

Graveside service will be held at 11:45 A.M. Monday Feb. 14, 2011, at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Roger Kennard officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. Monday Feb. 14, 2011 until the service hour at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pleasant Grove Missionary Fund, in care of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church

Rev. Wayne Christian Obit – Incomplete

Rev. Wayne Christian of Cloudland, Georgia passed away on Sunday morning, February 13, 2011.  Mr. Christian served as pastor at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Cloudland for many years. 

Mr. Christian will lie in state at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church at Cloudland from 10 AM until 11:30 AM on Monday with graveside services at 11:45 AM.

Mr. Evan D. Bowman Incomplete Obit

MR. EVAN DEFORREST BOWMAN, age 82, of Whitley Drive-Summerville, Georgia passed away Saturday evening at his residence. Mr. Gene Paul Moseley, age 74, of Lyerly, GA died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Moseley was born September 15, 1936 in Broomtown, Alabama, the son of the late
Eric and Avis Loveless Moseley. He was retired from Mohawk Industries. Mr. Moseley was
a member of Oak Hill United Methodist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in
death by a granddaughter, Stefanie Morgan Moseley. Mr. Moseley was a devoted husband of
56 years and a father of 2, grandfather of 3, and great-grand father of 3.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Mincey Moseley, sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and
Gail Moseley, Lyerly, GA, and Marshall & Cora Moseley, Summerville, GA; grandchildren,
Jessica Fletcher and Lisa Moseley; great grandchildren, Evan Fletcher, Callie Fletcher, and
Jaydon Moseley; sisters, Barbara Moseley, Orange Beach, AL, Bonnie Ernst, Atlanta, GA,
Linda Watts, Birmingham, AL; and brother, Marnell Moseley, Gaylesville, AL.

Mr. David Dennis Lea, age 70, of Lyerly, GA, passed away Tuesday Feb. 8, 2011 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Lea was born Jan. 15, 1941, in Mentone, AL, the son of the late Robert and Unasee Taylor Lea. He was a member of the West Berryton Faith Temple, and an Evangelist. He was preceded in death by a sister, Naomi Jo Moses, brothers, Jimmy Lea, Herschel Lea, Terry Lea, and Ray Lea.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Flowers Lea, children, Dennis & Angie Lea, David & Christy Lea, JoNell Hulsey, Patty Anderson, Wanda & Robert Smith, brother, Andrew Lea, sisters, Margaret Ward, Glenda Eden, Mary Helton, Winonina Jackson, Carole Ramey, 17 Grandchildren, 7 Great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011 at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John Mann and Rev. Billy Wright officiating with interment in the Bankhead Cemetery. Mrs. Nora Ann Tucker, age 63, of Menlo, GA died Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Tucker was born January 24, 1948 in Blanche, AL, the daughter of the late Bill and Bessie Crane Mason. She was a homemaker. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Logan Laney; and a twin sister, Nora Lee Mason.

Survivors include her children, Gilbert Laney, John Tucker, Tammy Tucker, Christy Tucker, and Lori Tucker; sisters, Lucille Woods, Sue Philips, Cledia Woods, Joyce Burk, and Judy Tucker; grandchildren, Maci Tucker, Alex Tucker, Zack Tucker, Leanna Tucker, Haley Spraggins, Heather Spraggins, Levi Laney, Shelly Laney, Breanna Laney, and Danielle Coleman.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Burke and Bro. Shannon Tucker officiating. Burial will follow in Needmore Cemetery. Doris Campbell Ridenhour obit

Mrs. Doris Campbell Ridenhour, age 80 of Trion, GA passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 at her residence. She was born July 21, 1930 in Gordon Co., GA.  She had been employed with the E. T. Barwick Company and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.

Mrs. Ridenhour was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Morris Campbell; son, Jack O. Campbell; daughter-in-law, Charlene Campbell; and father and mother, Jack Andrew and Annie Sarah Ballard Akins.

Survivors are sons and daughter-in-law, Anthony M. Campbell of Trion, GA; and Kenneth B. and Darlene Campbell of Belmont, NC; several grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Feb 6, 2011 at 3 pm from the chapel of Erwin-Pettit Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Bailey officiating.  Interment will be in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Ridenhour will lie-in-state on Sunday, Feb 6, 2011 at the Erwin-Pettit Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2 to 3pm.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Eugene Sizemore, James Hilton Sizemore, Jr., Billy Wayne Campbell, Russell Townsend, Jr., Butch Young and Billy Price.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Bruce Campbell, Jessie Campbell, Carl Towe, Jay Towe and Douglas Towe.

Thomas Ray Faulkner obit

Mr. Thomas Ray Faulkner, age 62 of Trion Hwy, Trion, GA passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 at Hutcheson Medical Center.  Mr. Faulkner was born March 23,1948 in Illinois.  He organized the Youth Soceer League in Fredricksburg, TX and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in LaFayette, GA.

Mr. Faulkner was preceded in death by his father and mother, Benjamin Franklin and Helen Humphries Faulkner; a sister, Sandra Faulkner and a brother Steve Faulkner; and a granddaughter, Nicole Mosseau.

Mr. Faulkner is survived by his wife of 30 yrs, Pat Faulkner of Trion, GA; Son and daughter-in-law, LaWayne and Jennifer Bowling of Charlotte, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Richie Willingham of Trion, GA; son, Toby Faulkner and family of Austin, TX; daughter Tammy Casselman of San Juan, TX; and son, Chris Brian and family of Spokane, Washington; grandchildren, Michael and Erica Bowling, Joshua, Kiri and Emmie Mosseau, and Danielle Faulkner;  great-children, Elyssa and Cameron Bowling; 2 brothers and 3 sisters; nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday, Feb. 7, 2011 at 2 pm from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Lafayette, GA.

There will be no visitation.
