Cross Obituary

Mr. Jackie Ray “Jack” Cross, age 73, of Panama City, FL died Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Cross was born January 27, 1935 in LaFayette, GA, the son of Louie Bass and Mamie Carrol Cross. He was a twenty year veteran of the US Army, serving in Korea, Germany, Turkey, and Okinawa, Japan. He was an active member of the VFW in Key Largo, FL and a lifetime member of the American Legion. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was also a dedicated Nascar Fan. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Cross.

Mr. Cross is survived by his wife and companion of 21 years, Wanda J. Cross; daughters and son-in-law, Catherine & Jay Morgan, Lowell, Massachusetts, Susan Cross, Ocala, FL, sons and daughter-in-law, John Cross, Lilburn, GA, Jeff Cross, Jesup, GA, Garry and Felicia Cross, Alpharetta, GA, sister, Oneida Cross Brown, Cloudland, GA, 7 Grandchildren, 2 Great-grandchildren, nephews, Bill and Arthur Brown, Panama City, FL, Dennis Brown, Cloudland, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 Saturday, November 8, 2008 from the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill Brown, Dennis Brown, Arthur Brown, Arthur Brown, Jr., Rusty Brown, and Sean Bethea.

Mr. Cross will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p. m. Friday, November 7, 2008.

Mrs. Curtis Mae Brown 85 of Raines Circle , Summerville passed away Thursday at her residence.. a native of Chattooga county. she was born to the late EJ and Ida Mae McSpadden Bush on september 22nd 1923..She was amember of Calvary Baptist Church, a nurse retired after 40 years of service. She was preceded in death by her husband the late Ralph Country Brown, and Siblings Frances Floyd, Edward Bush, and Jimmy Bush.  Surviving are son and Daughter in law Marty and Joyce Brown of Summerville Grandchildren Lisa and Keven MacKenny of Gainesville and Jason & Buffy Brown of Summerville, Great grandchildren, Jase and Libby Brown and Jeff MacKenney,a brother Bobby Bush of Caroleen, NC, plus several nieces and nephews also survive.  The Family request no flowers and suggest contributions to the Calvary Baptist church Missionary Fune or the Ralph Country Brown Scholarship Fund at BB & T bank…Funeral arrangement are incomplete and will be announced later by The Earle Rainwater Funeral Home.

Infant Deering obit

Infant Georgia Aileen Deering died November 5, 2008 at Floyd County Medical Center.

Georgia was born November 5, 2008 the daughter of Jerome and Kristy Deering. Other survivors include a brother, Jayden Deering; grandparents, Deborah and Cedric Price, Marvin & Carolyn Timmons, Beverly C. Deering, Marvin and Steven Parker.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a. m. Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Summerville Cemetery. Minister Tommy O’Kelly will officiate. Pallbearers will be Marvin Timmons, JR. and Johnny Parker.

Baby Alley will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10:00 a. m. until the service hour on Friday.

Master Gavin Knox Clayton, newborn son of David and April Toles Clayton, passed away Monday, October 27, 2008 in New York.

Graveside and Interment Services for Master Gavin Knox Clayton will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 8, 2008 in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Charles Kenneth Smith, age 64, of Cloudland, GA passed away Tuesday, November 04, 2008 at his residence.

Mr. Smith was born in Summerville, Georgia on August 23, 1944, son of Jimmie Sue Green Smith and the late Kirby Robert Smith. He was self employed as a mechanic and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his father, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Allen Langston.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Debra Sue Smith, Cloudland; Daughters and sons-in-law, Charlsie Nicole Dodd and Greg Day of Lyerly and Elizabeth SueAnn and Micah Maddux of Trion; Stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Bryan Lee and Kelly Tate of Fort Payne, AL; Brother and sister-in-law, Tony Dewight and Gloria Smith of Cloudland; Sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia Langston of Cloudland and Peggy Sue Aldridge and Ronnie Tipton of Menlo; Grandchildren, Dakota Dodd, Autumn Dodd, Shadow Day, Bryce Tidmore, and Johnathan Tate; great grandchildren, Cayden Dodd, Koi Dodd and Kaylee Dodd; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Smith will be held Thursday, November 6, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dan Hogan and Rev. Billy Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the Cloudland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Marvin Thomas Coley, age 82, of Summerville, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Coley was born in Cedartown, GA on January 4, 1926, son  of the late Tyson Coley and Romer ConnellColey.  He was of the Baptist Faith and prior to retirement was employed with Mt. Vernon Mills.

Burnett Obituary (incomplete)

Mrs. Thelma Rush Burnett, age 91, of Sunset Lane in Trion, Georgia, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008 in a local nursing home. A native of Heflin, Alabama, Mrs. Burnett was born to the late Leemon and Flora Mae Rooks Edwards on August 30, 1917. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and was retired from the weave shop of Reigel Textile.

Mrs. Burnett was preceded in death by her first husband, the late William Otha Rush, as well as three brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are her son, Gaylon Rush; daughter – Marilyn Wood, both of Summerville; husband – Gladstone Burnett, of Trion; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters – Sybil Brown of Carrollton, GA and Dean Pendley of Monck’s Corner, SC; several neices and nephews also survive.

Ms. Amanda Rose Hartline, age 31, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Saturday, November 1, 2008 in Cherokee Medical Center.

Ms. Hartline was born August 24, 1977 in Rome, GA, the daughter of Kimberly Bullard and Billy Mitchell. She had been employed with the Chattooga County E-911 as a dispatcher. Ms. Hartline was of the Baptist faith and attended Chesterfield Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Johnny Cavin, and her great-grandparents.

Survivors include her son, Drew Morris, Gaylesville, AL, parents, Kimberly Bullard and Billy Mitchell, Gaylesville, AL, brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Crystal Hartline, Gaylesville, AL, grandmother, Farice Cavin, Gaylesville, AL, niece, Isabella Hartline, special niece, Danielle Hartline, aunt and uncle, Becky and Phil Lenderman, Summerville, GA and special cousin, Whitney Bullard, Summerville, GA.
