Mrs. Charlotte "Dang-Dang" Sprayberry, age 68, of 199 Cherry Street, Trion passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at her residence. Mrs. Sprayberry was born October 16, 1940 in Trion, GA. She was a housewife and Baptist by faith.

Mrs. Sprayberry was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jessie Dexter and Myrtle Mathany Hardy; sister Nina Teal and brothers J.D. Hardy and Sammy Hardy.

She is survived by her husband, Rayford W. Sprayberry of Trion, daughter and fiance, Pam Green and Jay Jones of Trion, Grandson and fiance, Eric Glenn and Tammy Youngblood of Trion, Grandson, Kevin Glenn of Trion; great-granddaughter, Cassie Glenn of Trion and great-grandson, Dawson Glenn of Chickmauga; very special friend Susan Wallin of Trion; 4 sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews also survived.

Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2 P.M. from the chapel of the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home with Rev, Charles Izell and Rev. Robert Spears officiating. Interment will be in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Sprayberry will lie-in-state Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M.

Active pallbearers will be Jay Jones, Warren Hall, Tim Pickle, Michael Thompson, Jeremy Hardy, and Carlos Zellner. Honorary pallbearers will be Mary Sue Williams, Vesta Wilbanks, Rick Chesley, Dan Floyd, Jim Searles, Preston Sills, Kevin Buice, Kenneth Estus, Susan Wallin, Sylvia Starkey, Britt Carpenter and Gail Allen. They are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Howard Obit

Mr. Herman Daniel “Danny” Howard, age 54, of Trion, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Hutcheson Medical Center.

Mr. Howard was born in Trion, Georgia on November 26, 1954, son of the late Tillman Howard and Effie Mae Bowman Howard. He was an auto mechanic by trade and was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Howard was a special nephew of the late Neil Bowman, Sr., and was preceded in death by a son, Shayne Howard, and brothers, Johnny Howard, Tim Howard and Jimmy Howard.

Mr. Howard is survived by his wife, Joy Howard; Stepson, Larry Sauls; Daughter and son-in-law, Tabitha Howard and Jeffrey Kim Johnson; nephew, Scott Howard; Grandchildren, Jackson, Ryan, Eli, and McKenzie and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Howard will be held Friday, January 9, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of the Mason Funeral Home with Bro. Joel Smith officiating. Private Interment services will be in the West Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Howard will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour

Eubanks Obit

Mrs. Regina Lynn Huffman Eubanks, age 47, of Summerville, GA, passed away Tuesday January 7, 2009 at her residence, leaving her family behind, but being restored with theLord.Mrs. Eubanks was born May 24, 1961, in Lafayette, GA, the daughter of Jo Ann Teems and the
late S. Wayne Huffman, Sr.  She was employed with the Floyd County Sheriff Department as a Jail Officer and was a member of the Pennville Christian Missionary Alliance Church.
Survivors include her husband, Matt Eubanks, mother, Jo Ann Teems, son, Donnie Ray Cordle, Jr., Trion, GA; daughters, Amanda Cordle Key, Jennifer Cordle Rutleldge, Summerville, GA; brother, S. Blalock Obit

Mr. Hugh Lee Blalock, age 79, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, January 06, 2009 at his residence.

Mr. Blalock was born January 5, 1930 in Cherokee County, AL, the son of the late Calvin Frances and Lula Don Hartline Blalock. Mr. Blalock was a member of Perennial Springs Baptist Church. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Quarter Century Club. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, having served in the Korean War. Mr. Blalock was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Evelyn Wheeling Blalock and a brother, Bob Blalock.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Nell Durham Blalock, daughter and son-in-law, Linda Diane & James Hayes; son & daughter-in-law, Gregory L. & Teresa Blalock; step sons and wives, Greg & Kim Hurley, Terry & Donna Hurley; sisters, Katherine Vernon and Nell Dodd; brothers, Ronald Blalock, Billy Blalock, and Harold Blalock; grandchildren, Stacy Blalock, Jessica Fletcher, Garrett Hurley, Haven Hurley, Marcus Blalock, Chad Teems, and Miranda Hurley; great grandchildren, Madison Blalock, Shanea Hinson, Micayla Hinson, and Evan Fletcher.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday, January 8, 2009 from the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Waydell Howell and Rev. Lee Byrd officiating. Snider Obit

Mrs. Hazel Lovella Snider, age 72, of Summerville, GA died Monday, January 5, 2008 at her residence.

Mrs. Snider was born April 5, 1936 in Trion, GA, the daughter of the late William Luther and Georgia Elizabeth Hawkins Caldwell. She was a homemaker and a member of Freedom Fellowship. Mrs. Snider was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Snider; sister, Delsey Evaline Eaton; brothers, William Harvey Caldwell and Charlie Marvie Caldwell.

She is survived by two sisters, Ruby Hall, Summerville, GA and Pauline Ash, LaFayette, GA; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at the Freedom Fellowship with Rev. Ken Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow in Summerville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Caldwell, Ray Caldwell, Dewayne Caldwell, Doyle Ash, Jimmy Caldwell, Ronnie Hall, Bobby Brown, Buddy Ash, and Curtis Brown.

Runyan Obit

Mrs. Hazel Idell Runyan, age 81 of Given Street in Summerville passed away on Saturday in a Rome Hospital.  She was a native of DeKalb County, Alabama born to the late Jessie Monroe on August 21, 1927.  She was a Baptist by faith and retired from the Spinning Department of the former Geneva Cotton Mill.

Surviving are husband, Bobbie C. Runyan, daughter Debbie Ponder of Summerville, son Roger Swanson of Fife, Alabama along with half brother, Gene Monroe of Alabama and four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several neices and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 6th at 1 PM from the JD Hill Memorial Chapel of the Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Odum officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden.  Active Pallbearers: Dustin Ponder, Dwight Ponder, Roger Swanson, Chris Swanson, Steve Swanson and Darrell Shamkles.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 AM until the hour of service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Eloise Hope Cagle, age 84, of Summerville, GA died Thursday, January 01, 2009at her residence.Mrs. Cagle was born March 7, 1924 in Cherokee County, Alabama, the daughter of the late James Henry and Nan Stinson Stephens.  She was retired from Best Manufacturing
and was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.  Mrs. Cagle was preceded in deathby her husband, Edward Eugene “Gene” Cagle; daughter, Nancy Joyce McElduff; brothers,Norman Stephens, John Stephens,  and James Stephens; and a sister, Josie Stephens.Survivors include a daughter, Betty Jean Stanfield, brother; Jule Stephens; grandchild,Jennifer Hope Wade; great-grandchild, Gracelyn Rose Drake.

Mr. Jeremy Douglas Mahan, age 28, of Summerville, GA died Tuesday, December 30, 2008at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Mahan was born February 14, 1980 in Rome, GA.  He was a member of the Trion UnitedMethodist Church.  He was employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee.Mr. Mahan is survived by his parents, Douglas and Linda Mahan, Summerville, GA; and a
brother and sister-in-law, Jeff & Renee Mahan; nephew, Garrett Mahan; niece, Marie Brown.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p. m. Mrs. Roberta Eloise Thompson, age 68, of Summerville, GA., passed away Wednesday December 31, 2008 in Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Thompson was born November 19, 1940, the daughter of the late Robert and Naomi Woodard Duckett. She was a homemaker and a member of the Trion Height Baptist Church.

Survivors include husband, Larry Edward Thompson, children, Ronald E. & Gwen Thompson, Keith Scott & Zetta Thompson, Sabrina & Tim LuAllen, grandchildren, Cole LuAllen, Byron Thompson, Glori Boyd, Emily LuAllen, great-grandchild, Jaren Boyd.
