Mrs. Ruth Hawkins Glass, age 84, of Summerville, GA., passed away Thursday August 7, 2008, at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Glass was born Dec. 15, 1923, i n Rossville, GA., the daughter of the late O.H. and Annie Bessie Edwards Hawkins. She was a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Glass was preceded in death by her husba nd, Ervin Glass;brother, J.D. Hawkins; and sister, Mamie Arnold. Survivors include a son & daughter-in-law, Don & Linda Glass, Summerville, GA.; grandchildren, Casey Glass and Michelle Stephens; great-grandchildren, Jessica Stephens and Juli eanne Stephens. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a. m. Saturday, August 9, 2008 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Shores officiating. Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery. Mr. Anthony, Steve (Butterball) Walraven age 56 of Calhoun passed away Thursday morning August 7th at Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome following a brief illness.
Steve was born on May 28, 1952 in Gordon County, Georgia son of the late Grady Walraven and Lucille Sitton Walraven. He served his country with the U.S. Army. At the time of his death he was employed by Walmart Store at Acworth Georgia as a department manager.
Steve is survived by his wife, Deborah Jean Balliew Walraven to whome he was married for 34 years. One daughter; Stephanie Lathem and her husband, Robbie of Clahoun, Georiga. Two brothers; Grady Walraven, Jr. and his wife Nina Mae of Lindale, Georgia and Tim Walraven of Calhoun, Georgia. Nephew- Brian Walraven, four grandchildren Brody, Lorin, Briana and Libby Lathem.
Funeral services for Mr. Anthony Steve (Butterball) Walraven will be conducted Saturday at 11 AM at the Chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home with Reve. Eddie Brannon officiating. Active pallbearers serving will include; Keith Thomas, Bill Dillard, Jonny Dean, Jimmy Dean, Jerry Dean and Jimmy Godfrey. These gentlemen are requested to meet at the funeral home Saturday morninga t 10:15 AM. Internment will follow the service at Chandler Cemetery. Mr. Grady A. Bennett, age 67, of Ocala, Florida formerly of Chattooga County, Georgia passed away Tuesday (August 5, 2008) in Ocala, Florida. He was born in Lithonia, Georgia on September 13, 1940 to the late Otis Richard and Eula Flippo Bennett. He was a member of the Bellview Assembly of God in Bellview, FL. and owner/operator of Bennett Music Company in Ocala, FL for several years.
Surving are wife – Jimmie Ann Young Bennett; daughters – Melody Hall and Karen Jensen of Texas; sons – Mark Bennett of Chatsworth and John Paul Bennett of Arkansas; mother-in-law Ann Young of Summerville; sisters – Drucilla Ragland of Rome, Eula Belle Scoggins of Summerville; brother – James Robert (Bob) Bennett of Rome; sisters-in-law – Peggy Green of Cloudland, Pat Money Donna Whitmire both of Summerville, Peggy Bennett of Rome, Ann Bennett of Summerville; brothers-in-law – Donnie Scoggins & Randy Money of Summerville, Dewey Ragland of Rome, and Donald Green of Cloudland; Six Grandchildren, special niece Alania Carpetner & great-niece Emma Leann Carptenter, several Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews survive.

Ms. Brenda L. Hatfield, age 62 of Ridgeway Drive in Trion passed away on Saturday afternoon at the residence. She was born in Trion on march 22, 1946 to the late Albert Martin (Chunk) Sprayberry and Louise Cagle Sprayberry who survives. Ms. Hatfield was a memebr of Ridgeway Baptist Church.
Surving are Mother, Louise Sprayberry of Trion; Daughter – Lisa Floyd of Trion; Son – Rusty Floyd of Henager, Alabama; Grandchildren – Colton Floyd, Dakota Williams, Jamie Griffin, and Summer Williams. Special Friend David McNeese of Summerville, several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins also survive.

Mr. Terry Wayne Haygood, age 40, of Trion-Teloga Road, Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday in a Rome hospital. He was born on April 6, 1968 in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia to the late Myra Nell West Haygood and Herman M. Haygood, who survives. Formerly, Mr. Haygood was a lift-truck operator for Mohawk Carpet and was a member of Waterville Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Kathy Young Haygood, and aunts – the late Sheila McDaniel and the late Beverly Haygood.
Surviving are fiancee – Karen Anita Young; father – Herman M. Haygood, of Trion; sisters and spouses – Brenda & David Wells of Irvington, KY, and Diane & LeBron Lancaster of LaFayette, GA; half-brother and spouse – Joey & Rita Wells of Cleveland, TN; 4 nieces, 2 nephews, several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 AM from the J. D. Hill Memorial Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Maddux and Rick Butler officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Garden.
