Charles Franklin Clements, Obit (M)

Mr. Charles Franklin Clements age 87 of Trion, GA passed away Friday, November 17, 2023 at a Rome, GA hospital.

Mr. Clements was born March 22, 1936 in Summerville, GA to the late Frank and Dorothy Willingham Clements. He was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills and was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and spending time with his family.

Along with his parents Mr. Clements is preceded in death by his wife, Lois Stallings Clements.

Survivors include his children and step-children, Stan (Elaine) Clements, Ed (Joyce) Williams, and Wanda (Billy) Payne; sister, Charlotte Stowe; grandchildren, JoAnna (Ched) Jackson, Scott (Misty) Clements, Lana (Brian) Moseley, and Emily Clements; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside and interment services to celebrate the life of Mr. Clements will be held at 2:00 Monday, November 20 at Greenhills Memory gardens with Minister Josh Daniel officiating. Pallbearers will be Alan Lonas, Scott Clements, Ched Jackson, Randy Dover, Brian Moseley, David Hardy, and Phil Hall

Peggy Jo Wallace, Obit (C)

Mrs. Peggy Jo Wallace, age 70 of Cedar Bluff, Alabama passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. Wallace was born in Rash, Alabama on October 25, 1953, daughter of the late Willie Edward Arnold, Sr. and Lula Candace Guinn Arnold. She attended the Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center and was a retired Paramedic with the Chattooga County EMS. Mrs. Wallace was an avid Alabama Football Fan and loved to Treasure Hunt on the beach, looking or shells, shark’s teeth and ocean glass. She enjoyed fishing and loved horses, but her favorite activity was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Dooley; a brother, Willie Edward “Eddie” Arnold, Jr.; and a great granddaughter, Joselyn Danielle Phibbs.

Mrs. Wallace is survived by her husband, Lonnie Lee Wallace; sons and daughter-in-law, Shannon Murphy, and Kevin and Sha Wallace; daughter and son-in-law, Angel and Harvey Fitzgerald; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Hugh Lively; grandchildren, Danielle Phibbs, Jameson(Caitlin) Phibbs, Justin Wallace, Katelyn(Brice) Wallace, Kayla(Corey) Allen, Dustin(Abby) Fitzgerald, Mason Wallace and Derek(Kecia) Fitzgerald; 19 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Wallace will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 5:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Andy Hutchins officiating. Private Interment will follow at a later date.

Mrs. Wallace will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 3:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

MR. GREGORY LEE VAUGHN – Age 68, of Summerville, Georgia passed away peacefully Sunday morning, November 12, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born June 28, 1955 to his late parents, father Charles Augusta and mother Jimmie Lee Long Vaughn, Sr. Greg was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and for many years he was employed for the Chattooga School System as a Custodian at Summerville Middle School.

He is survived by four sisters, Burnetta (Charles) Pender, Elaine Wiggins, Denise Brown all of Summerville, GA, and Gwinnetta (Orange, Jr.) Evans of LaGrange, Georgia; two brothers, Charles A. (Madonna) Vaughn, Jr. of Deltona, Florida and Vincent (Christy) Madden of Chickamauga, Georgia; uncle, Cleveland L. (Annie) Vaughn of Summerville, GA; brother-in-law, Larry Allen of Summerville, GA; devoted niece and caregiver, Nakia Brown; dear friends, Dan Mosteller, Linda Wooten, and Susan Reese; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.

Homegoing Service will be held Sunday, November 19, 2023 at 2:00 P. M. at New Bethel Baptist Church, 281 Georgia Ave, Summerville, GA 30747, with Pastor Kevin Roach, Eulogist.

MR. PATRICK LEBRON EVANS, SR. – born September 3, 1969, in Rome, Georgia to Everett Evans and the late Carolyn Printup. He departed this earthly life for his heavenly home Thursday, November 9, 2023.

Patrick was educated in the Chattooga County School System and graduated from Chattooga High School in 1987. He was employed by HON. Patrick enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also loved watching sports, especially the Baltimore Ravens, but was most excited when he was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

George Glenn Patterson, Obit (C)

Mr. George Glenn Patterson, age 82 of Gaylesville, Alabama passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at a Rome Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Patterson was born in Trion, Georgia on December 13, 1941, son of the late Horace Glenn Patterson and Maxine Phillips Patterson. He was a veteran of the United States Marines Corps, attended the Summerville Pentecostal Worship Center, and prior to retirement, was employed with General Electric. Following his retirement, Mr. Patterson worked with Dan’s Bounty Table and worked part time with the Erwin-Petitt Funeral Home. He loved being outdoors, gardening and hunting, but his favorite activity was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Patterson was preceded in death by a brother, Hall Patterson, brothers in law; Glenn E Hughes, Wayne Miller, and Roy Cox.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Patterson; Daughter: Nicole Patterson; sister, Elaine Miller; Grandchildren: Autumn Patterson, Gracie Patterson, John Patterson, Hunter(Levi)Robinson, Hensleigh(Seth)Cox; Great Grandchildren: Cadince, Kailyn, Addison, and Dillon Green; Brothers/Sisters in Law: Dan (Deborah) Hughes, Harold (Joan) Hughes, Janie (Larry) Kellett, Peggy Cox, and Gail Hughes; Special Nieces: Allyson Crump, Dana Hughes, and Hayden Hughes; Special Great Nephews: Daniel T. Mrs. Regina Jill McElroy, age 64 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2023 at her residence.

Mrs. McElroy was born in Trion, Georgia on July 24, 1959, daughter of the late Jack Nelson and Imogene Cochran Nelson. She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, where she was employed as an inspector. Mrs. McElroy was a great mother, Grandmother and friend to everyone. She was always available to give advice or helping hand. She loved her family and all of her friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. McElroy was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Bryant Nelson.
Mrs. McElroy is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Allisha McElroy/Reynolds and her husband, Caleb; grandchildren, Riley McElroy and Esther Mae Reynolds; cousins, Melissa Laney and Tracy Hall; and a number of additional family members and friends.

Mr. Calvin Ray Holt, age 74 of Summerville, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at a Rome hospital.

Calvin was born in Bryant, Alabama on October 29, 1949. He attended the Central Avenue Baptist Church, and was a former member of the Boy Scouts of America. Calvin had a gentle demeanor and an infectious smile. He enjoyed playing UNO and Checkers and watching Westerns. Calvin was preceded in death by a dear friend and fellow housemate, Henry Reynolds.

Calvin is survived by his caregiver, Betty St. Clair; “Sissy,” Kim Lane; Friend and Guardian, Brenda Veatch and friend, Mary Beth “Tina” Durham.

MR. DEVONTÉ DE’VAUGHN ALBERT – Age 30, of Summerville, Georgia passed away Friday, October 27, 2023. He was born on December 18, 1992 and was lovingly known as “Dee Dee.”

He was employed at Roper Corporation and his last employment was at McDonald’s and Taco Bell. He received his education at East Saint John High School in Reserve Parish, Louisiana and Chattooga High School. He was a member of the Baptist Faith.

As the family mourns the loss of Devonté and cherish his memories, are his loving mother, Mayola Lindsey (Jason), father, Eric (wife)Holland; siblings, Eric Albert, Jaquawn and Nicholas Lindsey, Justice Tassin, Malik, Anthony Martin, Jr., Minnie, Antrell, and Sky Martin; grandparents, Marilyn (Fields) Kelson, Nelda Lindsey, and Warren (Pam) Albert, Jr., and Rosemary House; two nephews, Kayden and Aavin Albert; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Naomi Ruth Leavell Bullard, Obit (Wilson)

Naomi Ruth Leavell Bullard, 86, of Fort Payne, Alabama, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2023. She was born August 2, 1937 to the late Aurthur T. Leavell and Della Keith Leavell.

After Della passed when Naomi was a young child, her father married Maude Little. Ms. Bullard enjoyed gardening, canning, crocheting and sewing. She sewed clothing for her children and grandchildren, including matching bows. She retired from Best Manufacturing in Menlo, Georgia, after 37 years.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Donny Hilyer and Rev. Charles Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Adamsburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.

She is survived by her children Glenn Bullard, Brenda Ogle and husband Ron, and Lisa Brown and husband Charles; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Johnny Gerald Bullard.

Mrs. Mary Louise Johnson, age 82 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Thursday, November 2, 2023 at the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Red Hill, Tennessee on October 22, 1941, daughter of the late Homer Kilgore and Lois Austin Kilgore. She was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church and was retired from the Chattooga County School System, where she worked as a secretary for Chattooga High School. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed cooking, especially baking; quilting and working in the church. She was active in both the Chattooga Band Boosters and the Chattooga Athletic Boosters. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Starks and Shirley Wallace.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rev. Ken Johnson; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Dwane Justice, Brenda and Jeremy Worsham, and Cricket and Kindel Thurston; brother, Randall Kilgore; sister and brother-in-law, Patty and J.C. Christian; grandchildren, Katee Justice, Wendy (Tripp) Greer, Dakota (Becky) Thurston, and Skyler Thurston; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Johnson will be held Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Petitt Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Jennings and Rev. Barry Peppers officiating. Interment will follow in the Summerville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include Jeremy Worsham, Dwane Justice, Kindel Thurston, Dakota Thurston, Skyler Thurston, Tripp Greer and Dewayne Allmond.
