Raymond G. Jones, Obit (M)

Mr. Raymond G. Jones age 60 of Summerville, GA passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at an Atlanta area hospital.

Mr. Jones was born July 15, 1965 in Summerville, GA to the late Chester Jones and Dorothy Shaver Jones. He was employed as a lineman for over 35 years and part of Journey Lineman local IBEW 175. He was a member of Chelsea Baptist Church and enjoyed the outdoors, riding motorcycles, playing the piano, teaching/mentoring others, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his step mother, Mary Jones; step-father, James Simmons; and aunt, Mary Elicker.

Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Annette Jones; children, Raymond G. Jones, Jr., Tiffany Barnes, and Amber Jones; sister, Esther Wilcox; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Jones will take place 11:00 AM Saturday, August 23 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Lemons, Rev. Malcolm Harris, and Rev. Jeff Shaver officiating. Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery with Bailee Jones, Raymond Jones, Jr., Josh Wilcox, Jake Benton, Stanley Shafer, Charlie Logan, and Samuel Jones serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the former fellow lineman that he served with.

The family will receive friends Friday, August 22 from 5:00 – 7:00 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Christine (Chris) Daniel Thompson, Obit (ER)

MRS. CHRISTINE (CHRIS) DANIEL THOMPSON, age 88, of Harrisburg Road, Summerville, Georgia, passed away Wednesday evening, August 20, 2025, in the local Nursing Home. A native of Blairsville, Georgia, She was born to the late Thomas and Myrtle Davenport Daniel on May 13, 1937. Mrs. Thompson was a home maker and member of the Ivey Log Baptist Church and attended Beersheba Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by husband the late Wayne Lester Thompson and sisters the late Eva Hemphill, the late Sue Davenport, and the late Bonita Cantrell.

Surviving are sons, Tim (Kathy) Thompson and Tommy (Susan) Thompson of Trion; sister, Barbara Garnto of Blairsville; grandsons-Scott Thompson, Don Thompson, Wes Thompson, Ben Thompson, and Luke Thompson all of Trion; Great Grandchildren, Sydnee (Hunter) Clark, Jake Thompson, and Emily Thompson all of Trion, and One Great Great Granddaughter Avree Clark; several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 P.M. from the Chapel of Earle Rainwater Funeral Home with Rev. David Autry officiating, interment in Greenhills Memory Garden. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 noon until 1 P.M. at the Funeral Home. The Family request no food.

Verlene H. Pope, Obit (C)

Mrs. Verlene H. Pope, age 97 of Ft. Oglethorpe, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025 in a Rome hospital.

Mrs. Pope was born in Hamilton, Alabama on August 24, 1927, daughter of the late James Monroe Howell and Nicie Everlyne Sumner Howell. She had worked at Riegel Manufacturing, the Trion Glove Mill and Dean’s Auto Parts. In her later years, she was a homemaker who loved raising and supporting family, but loved all children, near and far, taking each in as her own and making them feel loved. Mrs. Pope was a member of the Newnan Springs United Methodist Church in Rossville and was a former member of the Trion Heights Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, “spinning yarns” and using her writing skills to write poems and skits. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Jack Choate; Second Husband, Stanton Dean; and 3rd husband,Fred Pope; son, Stan Dean;granddaughter, Kimberly Dean; sisters, Stella Beaird, Jessie Bethune, Ethel Brown, Lura Bell Precise, Dorothy Byrd, Doris Nixon and Dean Page; and brothers, Wallace Howell, Cleveland Howell, Max Howell, Wilburn Howell and Dennis Howell.

Mrs. Pope is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Ann Choate; daughter-in-law, Dianna Dean; grandchildren, Pamela Dean, Jeremy Dean and Kayla(Sean) Grubb; great grandchildren, Brynn Dean, Colton James, Sydney James, Elijah Dean and Aubrey Dean; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Pope will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Green Hills Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Pope’s family will receive friends Thursday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour.

MRS. MAYOLA MONIQUE “NIKKI” ALBERT LINDSEY – AGE 50, – Of Rome, Georgia passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025. Mrs. Albert was born July 1, 1975 to Warren Albert, Jr. and Marilyn King in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was preceded by her son Devonte DeVaughn Albert and her sister, Jaunique Williams.

Nikki is survived by her loving and devoted husband of twenty years, Jason Lee Lindsey; three sons, Eric Albert, Jaquawn Lindsey, Nicholas Lindsey; two grandchildren, Kayden and Aavin Albert; parents, Warren (Pam) Albert, Jr., and Marilyn (Fields) Kelson; sisters, Desiree Steer, Raven Shorts, Yoshanta Davis, Krystal King, Reva Davis; two brothers, Jeremy Albert, Bron Walker; mother-in-law, Nelda Lindsey; a host of aunts, uncles nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and her church family.

Anthony Morris “Zipper” Campbell, Jr, Obit (C)

Mr. Anthony Morris “Zipper” Campbell, Jr. age 56 of Trion, Georgia passed away Sunday, August 17, 2025 at his residence.

Zipper was born in Trion, Georgia on July 4, 1969, son of the late Anthony Morris Campbell, Sr. and Charlene Virginia Steele Campbell. He was a member of the Central Avenue Baptist Church and was a jack of all trades. Zipper worked with Mt. Vernon Mills, CTL, was a mechanic and also helped his father in the Locksmith business. Among some of his many hobbies, he loved to dance. In addition to his parents, Zipper was preceded in death by granddaughter, Blakeleigh Faith Campbell; sister, Cindy Brown; uncle, Jack Campbell; grandmother, Doris Ridenhour and a grandfather, Willie Campbell.

Zipper is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Cody and Ali Campbell, Austin and Brittany Campbell and Will and Katelyn Campbell; sisters, Nicole Irvine and Angela Campbell; brother, JJ Irvine; special friends, Gordon Kinsey, Tommy Slayton, Ricky Simpson, Bobby Chisolm and Chris “Bird” Scott; 13 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Mary Lou Henson Wade, age 66, of Gaylesville, AL, died Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mrs. Wade was born September 1, 1958, in Knoxville, TN, daughter of the late George E. and Rosa Lee Henson. Prior to her retirement, she had worked as a manager in the hosiery industry. She had also previously worked as a bus driver for the Walker County School System. Her most important job was being a loving grandmother, mother, and wife.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wade was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Henson.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Wade; sons, Ronald LaDale Baldwin, Jeffrey Dewey Baldwin, and Johnathan Scott Wade; daughters, Louisa Ann Scriven, Crystal Charlene (Joe) Scriven, Heather Ann Wade (Greg Ledford), Tiffany Nicole Wade, and Lesia Candice Craig; special chosen son, Seth (Jessica) Dawson; siblings, Wilma J. Miller, David E. Henson, Charles E. Henson, Sue Ann Brown, Donald R. Henson, and Betty Lou Hill; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wade will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. (GA Time) on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Winfred Leon Bolt, Obit (M)

Mr. Winfred Leon Bolt, age 94, of Menlo, GA, died Saturday, August 9, 2025, at his residence.

Mr. Bolt was born July 23, 1931, in Rossville, GA, but at 10 years of age, moved to the Atlanta area. He was the son of the late George and Irene Wall Bolt. Prior to his retirement, he was self-employed in the excavation industry and was also a mechanic. Mr. Bolt was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served in the Korean War. He dearly loved his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kay Knight; and brothers, Jim Bolt and Brian Bolt.

Survivors include his companion, Ann Chancey; son, Eugene Chancey; daughter, Sharon Manney; 3 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 14, 2025, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Bolt will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Thursday.

MR. LARRY JUNIOR FARMER- Age 76, Of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025 with his family at his bedside. Mr. Farmer was born on November 15, 1948 to his late parents, Frank Famer, Sr. and Mary Lee Gober Farmer. He was preceded by his daughter, Leslie Farmer Lester, three brothers, Frank Farmer, Jr., Lewis Farmer, Jimmy Dorsey Brown, four sisters, Margaret Ruth Farmer, Mae Willie Christopher, Ossie Bell Wheeler, and Carolyn Louise Bradley.

William Randall “Randy” Brinkley, Obit (C)

Mr. William Randall “Randy” Brinkley, age 65 of Summerville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at a Gordon County Hospital.

Randy was born in Trion, Georgia on July 8, 1960, son of the late William Eugene Brinkley and Betty Irene Phillips Brinkley. He was a member of the Life Purpose Church and prior to his unofficial retirement, was the owner and operator of R and D Electrical. Following his retirement, Randy helped his wife, Julie operate Pine Ridge Outdoors in Lyerly. Among his many activities, he was a farmer and was active member of the Chattooga Young Farmer’s. Randy was a workaholic, but enjoyed fishing and hunting, but nothing was more important to him than spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Jaxton and Cason. In addition to his parents, Randy was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca Lynn Brinkley.

Randy is survived by his wife, Julie Brinkley; daughter and son-in-law, Brianna and Matt Hill; brother, Terry Brinkley; two grandsons, Jaxton Hill and Cason Hill; and a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral Services for Randy will be held Friday, August 8, 2025 at 12:00 Noon in the Chapel of the Coffman Funeral Home with Pastor LeBron Long and Rev. Wayne Pace officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Bandy, Mike Moeller, Harold Chesley, Keith Durham, Tim Cook, Randy Hall and Ralph Tomlin. Honorary Pallbearers will be his former employees and work associates.

Randy will be in state at the Coffman Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Thursday afternoon from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.
