The Chattooga County Young Farmers Association has announced a full slate of events for March 2026, featuring educational programs, livestock services, and the annual Ag Day for local students.
The month kicks off Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. at the Chattooga Ag Center with a program on Fly Control Options, presented by Makayla Mickle, Purina Livestock Specialist. A steak dinner with baked potato, salad, and dessert will be served for $10. Attendees are asked to RSVP by March 3 to Lauren Jarrett.
On Thursday, March 19 at 7 p.m., the group will host a Pruning Fruit Trees program featuring Keith Mickler of Floyd County Extension. The evening will include a meal of vegetable soup, potato soup, cornbread, cobbler, and ice cream. The meal is sponsored by Anita’s Blissful Bites at Alpine Mini Farm.
Livestock producers can take advantage of the Bull Breeding Soundness Exam on March 21, 2026, at the Chattooga Ag Center. Appointments begin at 9 a.m., with a cost of $60 per bull. Producers should call the Extension Office at 706-857-0744 to reserve a time.
The month concludes with Chattooga County Ag Day on March 31 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ag Center. The annual event welcomes fifth-grade students and offers hands-on agricultural learning experiences. Organizers are seeking volunteers and exhibitors to assist with setup and activities.
The Chattooga County Young Farmers Association meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Chattooga County Ag Center. Annual membership dues are $30 for individuals and $50 for couples.
