Just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, the Chattooga FFA partnered with local businesses, volunteers, and agricultural organizations to distribute 125 Community Commodity Boxes filled with fresh food and pantry staples to families throughout Chattooga County on Monday.
The boxes supplied assistance to 125 households, supporting 205 adults and 120 children. Each box included a combination of fresh produce, meats, and essential groceries — made possible thanks to donations and partnerships across the community.
Chattooga FFA expressed its gratitude to the many contributors who helped make the effort possible. Local partners included Ingles Market, Menlo Lucky’s, Alexander Produce, Wright’s Meat Market, Summerville Middle FFA, and the Chattooga County Young Farmers. Their combined donations ensured families across the county received high-quality, nutritious items in time for the holiday.
Special recognition was given to Mandy Hale, a dedicated Chattooga Young Farmer member who assisted with distribution and continues to support local agricultural projects. The FFA also thanked Mr. Clyde Alexander of Alexander Produce for his generous contributions, along with Stephanie Bentley at Menlo Lucky’s, whose ongoing support continues to strengthen community outreach efforts.
Wright’s Meat Market was also praised for going “above and beyond” with its meat donation, which provided a meaningful addition to many of the boxes distributed. Ingles Market’s ongoing “brown bag” donation program played a key role as well, with purchased bags directly supporting families in need.
The organization also acknowledged several anonymous donors whose contributions helped ensure no family was turned away.
Chattooga FFA leaders say the annual project reflects the strength of local partnerships and the county’s commitment to supporting one another, especially during the holiday season.
