Last Friday, December 19, marked the 17th anniversary of the unsolved murder of Michael Mullens, a father and local business owner who was shot and killed outside his machine shop in Flintstone, Georgia.

On the morning of December 19, 2008, investigators with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, responded to Premier Pattern and Machine on Woodburn Road to investigate a homicide. Authorities say Mullens had just arrived at his business when he was ambushed by an unknown individual or individuals and shot in the back of the head.

Over the past seventeen years, investigators have pursued numerous leads and followed up on information related to the case. Despite continued efforts, no arrests have been made. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains active and believes someone may still have information that could help identify and arrest those responsible.

“We are seeking any information that may help us obtain justice for Michael Mullens and his family,” the sheriff’s office said. “Even information that may seem minor could be critical in solving this case.”

Anyone with information regarding the homicide of Michael Mullens is urged to contact Detective Walter Hensley at 706-670-1939, email whensley@walkerso.com, or submit an anonymous tip through the Walker County Sheriff’s Office website at www.walkerso.com.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office continues to thank the public for its support and encourages anyone with knowledge of the crime to come forward.
