Georgia Northwestern Technical College will offer a Driver’s Education course in Chattooga County October 6 through October 9, giving local students an opportunity to complete the training required under Georgia’s Joshua’s Law.
Classes will be held at the GNTC Chattooga County Education Center from 8:30 AM until 5 PM each day.
The program includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind-the-wheel driving with a certified instructor.
The regular cost of the course is $400, but scholarships are available through the Georgia Driver’s Education Grant Scholarship Program to help eligible students cover the cost.
The scholarship program is administered through the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety and is designed to help Georgia teens receive professional driver training while promoting safer driving habits.
Students interested in receiving the scholarship must apply for the funding separately. Scholarship information and applications are available through the Georgia Driver’s Education Grant Scholarship program.
GNTC says its Driver’s Education program meets Joshua’s Law requirements and provides students with both classroom instruction and practical driving experience.
The Chattooga County course is one of several GNTC Driver’s Education sessions being offered this fall across Northwest Georgia, but the October 6-9 class is the session scheduled locally in Chattooga County.
Students and parents interested in the class can contact GNTC Driver’s Education at driversEd@gntc.edu or call 706-516-5442 for information about the current schedule and registration.
