You would have to search hard over the last 10 or 15 years to find a home game for Trion where the stakes were any higher than they will be Friday night at Sam R. McCain stadium.

The stage is set for a top 10 matchup as the defending Region 6A champion Bowdon Red Devils roll into town  to square off with the upstart Trion Bulldogs.  According to MaxPreps, the Red Devils are currently ranked 6th in the state while Trion sits at #10.

Many pundits have slated Trion and Bowdon as the two early frontrunners who have emerged this season for the Region 6A title.  Tonight marks the start of region play for both teams and the winner of tonight’s game will be sitting directly in the driver’s seat for the region title.

Bowdon comes into the game tonight 3-1 with their only loss this season being a 14-10 loss to very tough AA Haralson County team.  Trion sits at 4-0 for the first time since 2002 with blowout wins over Coosa, Model, Howard and Cedar Bluff.  The Dawgs have not won a region title since the Dome team of 2003 but a win tonight would mean a huge step in the right direction.

It has been a rocky start to the year for the Chattooga Indians.  The Indians have battled a slow start and Covid 19 cancellations and sit at 1-2 on the season but things are looking up after their the first win of the season last week.  The Indians went on the road and defeated Heritage Newnan 49-38.  Chattooga will begin their region schedule tonight at home against a 1-3 Model team.

The Trion vs Bowdon game will be broadcast live on 99.1 FM and AM 1180 tonight.  You can also enjoy a live video stream of the game on the WZQZ Facebook page.  Join Ben Groce and Jeremy Burke for the pregame show at 7pm tonight with kickoff to follow at 7:30pm.

The Chattooga vs Model game will also be live streamed on the WZQZ Facebook page.  Barry Peppers will call the action tonight for the Indians.
