Funeral services will be held today for Mr. DeForest “Brimp” Warren, recognized as Chattooga County’s final surviving World War II veteran. Warren, 101, of Summerville, died Saturday, November 29th, at his residence.

Warren served in the United States Army and was a longtime community leader and businessman. In 1960, he founded Warren Ford in Summerville, operating the dealership until 1986. He earned numerous honors from Ford Motor Company and was a member of the Ford Hall of Fame. He also helped co-found the Chattooga County Democratic Association.

Warren was a member of Horizon Baptist Church, the Chattooga Masonic Lodge, and the Chattooga Shrine Club, and had been selected as a Grand Marshal for the Chattooga County Veterans Day Parade.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. today in the Mason Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Chattooga Shrine Club.
